  1. Energy Suspension might as well. I know they sell the rear bar that mounts to the legs behind the diff. BTW, your rear bar might have been removed because the PO thought it handled better. We run w/o a rear bar in the 240 race car but have them in our street 240s.
  2. Today I had the steering wheel slip 90 degrees as I was driving on the highway (Rt495). I pulled over at the first safe place and checked the steering wheel nut, the coupler and the rack bolts. One wheel had a serious toe in issue so I drove very slowly the remaining 10 miles home. I suspected that the inner tie-rod had gone in my reman rack but it turns out the concentric control arm bushing had slipped because the bolt was loose. Now I just need to get it back to something close to normal and get it re-aligned this week. Bad news - it was the first sunny day in a week. Good news - I didn't wreck my Z. Glad your issue got solved Paul....
  3. For such a simple question there seems to be little agreement as to what came with what and for that matter why.
  4. I have the 5/8 MC and the 11/16 slave in my 240 as well but I have a 280B tranny. The FSM is fine as long as you keep everything stock.
  5. Those are 2-piece 16X8 BBS style wheels from Custom Wheel that are no longer available. When I got them in '03 you could get any off-set you wanted. They make a similar design in a 3-piece (more $$$). You could try Primarily Japanese in Tuscon to see if they have any left.
  6. I finally installed mine as well. The pics show my custom made airdam/splitter before it was powder-coated. The splitter plate runs all the way back to the radiator. Car is stable at 2x highway limit.
  7. If one is going to install that much HP into a 240 then something other than stock seats and even a roll bar would be called for. I noticed the rear vinyl bubbling too.Take a look at the engine picture that shows the crankcase breather and a whole lot of dirt. I've had my 240 apart a few times (too bad I wasn't being paid by Nissan to do so) and I'd take my Rebello 3.2L with a better interior, strut bars, and suspension over this VZ modified car any day.
  8. Were the front airdam and grill area modified (rubber strip and blocked off bottom section) done recently? Also the strip along side the door and 1/4 window? Very nice pictures!!
  9. If it helps with diaper rash it will help keep your dash soft. Vasoline is too messy so I have been using baby oil to keep my 38 yr old dash crack-free. Wipe on, wipe off excess, re-apply to areas that dry out, wipe off excess.
  10. Of course, throw-out bearing height plays a more important role in all this.
  11. See the post above yours and you get a sense that this info isn't as well known as one thought. The ZX slave is an 11/16 (80-83). My point is to find out which went with what and see if I can solve a problem regarding engine/tranny swaps.
  12. There are slaves for: 1) 70-72 2) 73-78 3) 79-83 (non-turbo) 4) 82-83 (turbo) At least one of them is a 3/4-inch bore. So what are the sizes to match the years/engine type?
  13. I have searched and have yet to find a listing of the different clutch slave cylinder sizes and the year Z they were installed on. Does anyone know where I can find this info? Thanks....
  14. I'm pretty sure that the hood cable came with a grommet attached and not separately. The carb/choke cable grommet should be available.
  15. I would expect that the ones you get from Black Dragon will be Nissan OEM handles. You can call Courtesy Nissan and see what they're selling them for as well.
  16. Perhaps only Alan will know the answer to this one but was the original hood support rod in an way different on the gnose version as opposed to the stock 240 rod?
  17. Beandip - your improvised cable release brought back memories of losing my throttle cable 30 miles from the nearest dirt road and using wire fishing leader and a tree branch as a handle. My wrist and hand were sore for days, but I got the truck home. I really like your idea of a backup release cable and will be installing one next week.
  18. That big wide open grille style is eye pleasing but results in a very large amount of drag. Based on the wind tunnel tests we have changed the way our 240 front grille area is constructed by building an air shroud box that feeds the radiator but blocks all other openings. I am now in the process of doing the same thing for my gnose'd 240.
  19. I'm running filter (Holley 100 micron), pump, regulator, filter (OEM), carbs (in line w/#2 set-up) and return. No issues after 25,000 miles of very hard driving.
  20. Have you thought to undo the rear sway bar and see if it was pulling the RCAs to one side?
  21. Carl - that retro fit pump was being considered long before they installed them since the wiring harness and ends where on pre-'72 240s.....
  22. Series I 240s had the metal ones and the metal fans. Splash pans are judged if they are there. In a tie, a car w/pan is better than one w/o. Please remember that judging of stock Zs is very different that all other classes. Don't get confused by car show rules and practicality.
  23. According to the ZCCA judging rules, a stock car is defined by how the car came out of the factory and not the dealership (or how you want the car to look re: fog lights, etc.). A FG shroud would not have any points deducted if it was clean and installed correctly. If there was a tie between two cars, then the one with the metal shroud would win based on originality. The same holds true for braided hoses, tires, batteries, etc. Original parts trump new parts as long as they are clean. Rules not to your liking, then join the rules/judging committee and work to change them, otherwise "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's" and move along. How long did Carl Beck search for the correct rallye lights for his BRE car? Ask him if he over paid for them.... Their worth is proportional to your desire to have them.
  24. How about $1,200. or more for a set of gnose headlight covers? The metal fan shroud price is based on the fact that it is rare and a vital part if you want a completely correct stock 240Z. If a perfect score at a judged car show or a better selling price is what you're looking for, then a reproduction fiberglass unit is not acceptable. It's not your money, and no one is getting hurt.....
  25. Has anyone dealt with Bill Ryan, who repairs digital ZX dashes and instruments?
