  1. No resistor is needed....running one in mine since 2000.
  2. Does anyone know if 240 rear stub axle spacer sleeves are a different length than ones from a 280?
  3. See a car you want on ebay or Craig's List but are unsure as to whether you should buy it sight unseen? Look up as local Z club nearby and ask if they know anything about the vehicle and if it might not be possible for one of them to stop by and inspect it for you.
  4. Did you return the valance and get your money back? If not please note we'd be happy to refund your money if it didn't fit right. I have seen three different 240 valance lip styles (from 3/8 to 1 1/4). I also have an un-used one that has BRE spoiler ready capture nuts.
  5. I have to say that the presentation of this car up for sale was one of the most honest ones I've seen on ebay. They provided a ton of pictures and didn't avoid taking shots of potential or real problem areas. Back here on the East Coast that is a $2,000. car. To me it would make a great "break glass in case of crashing your other 240" car. If I had room for another one I'd buy it and put it away.
  6. I have about 50 of them and they are $1.00 each plus $5./shipping
  7. Think right hand drive and right hand battery box. As to moving the posts all your need is a 24F battery (same size just reversed posts) and two new cables (red as long as the old black one and black as long as the old red one). Real simple, real safe. IMHO, not doing this when you have a chance to do so is plain outright dumb.
  8. Any, I repeat, any locksmith can make you a key for your car. Period.
  9. There is a specific line for comments for each item being judged. I instruct folks that they should write things like: dirty, rusty, non-OEM, cracked, etc. to show why they deducted points. The glove box light issue is old and no longer applies. As to protesting a score, it's done all the time. If you want to score well, then have an experienced ZCCA judge, PRE-JUDGE your Z a few weeks before a show. Then correct everything he/she finds and you will then be that much closer to winning in your class. No rocket science needed...................just hard work (and a lot of money).
  10. Foam pads - one for your back and one for your head. I've also found having someone hand you tools makes it easier (no getting in and out). Long needle nose pliers and a headlamp did it for me. I built a special screwdriver for the heater cables...
  11. Okay, I'm unsure why a label on a package saying "Datsun Competition" makes them somewhat better than other wires in similar packaging. You want good plug wires, buy good ones. I've been running Magnecor 8mm for 3 years now on my 3.2L NA stoker motor WITH an MSD box and a petronix unit under the cap (stock cap and rotor, B8ES NGK plugs).
  12. At $165. for a piece of metal that has a small lip and a few holes, all I can say is, no thanks.
  13. Sounds like a stub axle. You can replace this with a used 280 stub axle (stronger) but either way the strut comes off (you can leave the control arm on) and have someone press out the axle stub then have them press in a replacement stub axle. Good time to replace the wheel bearings and seals. Might want to do both while the car is up on jackstands....
  14. I have a 77 2+2 awaiting disassembly (winter snows) and i will be interested in comparing the coupe vs 2+2 rear arms.
  15. Guys, let the kid abuse the Zed (with no rev limiter), let him break a few parts, have him go look up Z parts and buy stuff from me. One Zed less in the world is not the worst thing that can happen (maybe one less clueless Zed owner might be a good thing). Telling him to back off could be like taking money out of my pockets. So, the_cafe, bust a nut my man and then contact me for all the things you'll need to get it back into good enough shape to sell. I got rooms full of stuff. But please do it somewhere a long way from any other human being......oh, lastly, do you know what an open diff means?
  16. I have a set on my 240 and you can feel the heat coming out the vents.
  17. I remember paaing up on buying a similar brochure a few years back (it was $25.) and it had caught my eye as the C-pillar badge was missing. I seem to remember something else in the interior was there as well. Nice find...
  18. The other question to ask is what tires are available in 15 vs 16-inch sizes. I'm was running Pole Postion -03s but they don't make them in 245X45X16 anymore, they are(were) expensive and I will be running on a set of Yokohoma Es-100s this year instead. Harshness is relative to tire pressure, tire type and size, road condition, springs and shock settings. This year along with the new tires I'll be riding on 250F/275-R springs and Tokico HTS 16-position adjustable shocks, and TechnoToyTuning TC rods @ -2 camber and 5 degrees of caster. I imagine it will be harsh,
  19. Plus you'll need special hood hinges that are NLA but available as an aftermarket item from: www.baddogparts.com Oh, and to answer the original question of where can one find a g-nose?" - My garage (1972 240Z-G) and the shed along side my house (that one is from Bob Sharp Racing, it's one piece and I picked it up and am storing it for Blue)
  20. I'm guessing my '72 that got wrecked a few years ago isn't in this current thread mileage range as it had over 400,000 miles on it (owner notebook, receipts, etc.).
  21. Since my rollbar blocks the dome light this looks interesting. Maybe a clear plastic slipsleeve to help protect the tubes might work. I have them for the overhead lights in my workshop.
  22. Morgan still makes wood framed roadsters. Howdy Doody show. Gas @ $0.24/gal Gas caps behind hinged rear tail lights Push button automatics Dash mounted slide lever automatics Duck and cover Captain Video
  23. Mark - maybe we could start a thread with pictures of dashes Bob has signed. He drove our "club" 240 race car at the ZCCA convention in NY. The track day was held at The Glen and after taking about 10 laps he came in and said we needed more horsepower. Prior to going out I was talking to him about coming into the "boot" and hitting the brakes to settle the car before the rather abrupt turn-in. He responded by asking "you hit the brakes??", "why we use to go through there doing more than 90mph and drift through and then power out of the turn". So after the statement about needing more HP, he looks at me and says that he went in doing just over 80mph and was about 2-inches from the blue painted metal wall as he attempted to power out of the turn in a car with about a 1/4 of the HP that he was used to driving in. He thought maybe a little brake might make for a better (and safer) outcome. When I asked him how he liked the "bus stop" (neither of us had been back to The Glen in over 20 years and it's new, make them go slower add-on, he said, "what bus stop?" The corner workers confirmed he went right through it.
  24. Okay - 1) 45 record players in car (tell me how they loaded) 2) milk w/ cream bubble at the top (I walked into folks' houses at 4am and put it in the refrigerators) 3) non-synco 1st gear 4) baja bugs 5) Eastern Airlines 6) South East Asia Games (all participants ended up losing) 7) 84s (before they were portable) 8) fax machines w/roller printers
