1. Just watched it get trailered away:( I'm sad but Happy... Thanks Ramses. You'll sell yours, just be patient.
2. Well Guys, The auction is up to $5700 with two days to go and 118 people watching it:eek: I 've received an offer of $6300, and i'm taking it. He's coming to get the car tomorrow morning. I know i could take a chance and let the auction go to close, it could go past $6300, but who knows? Even if it does, then i've got to worry if the winner is gonna pay me, etc... He's coming cash in hand, so i guess i'm aring on the side of caution. I won't cancel the auction untill the money's in my hand though. I'll keep you all posted. I'm already missing it :stupid:
3. Thanks everyone for the kind words about my z... Trisha, i definitely understand what you're saying. But i just can't consciously let the car just sit anymore (except for the occasional Sunday drive). I'd rather see the car go to someone who will get a lot of use/enjoyment out of driving/working on it. For me there's just no time in my life right now. I've had some great cars over the years, and it always hurts when they go. But i believe I'll always be able to find another (albeit at a higher $ value than I'm selling mine perhaps). Ramses, I'm asking $5+K So I'm looking for offers between 5K and 6K (hopefully closer to 6K). I'm trying to be realistic and get the car sold quickly. If I've learned one thing over the years, you never get back what you put into cars... Good luck with your sale too! *edit* Ramses, your z is very clean! And i see it's already at $5400! Maybe i should raise my buy it now price!
4. Hey everyone, After much internal struggle over the past few months, I've decided to put my 72 240z up for sale on eBay. I honestly never drive the thing, but when i do i really enjoy it (that's what made me take this long to finally sell it!) There's a few factors why i'm selling: I'm never home (work a lot), and the car just sits for months at a time. When i am home, i have so much to do that i have no time to work/play with it! I'll be relocating to NYC in a few weeks, with no real place to store it close to me (or the funds for the added expense of storing it). I just bought a bunch of computer/camera equipment to further my career (film/t.v.) and honestly could use the cash from the sale of the z to pay for some of it. Don't hate me fellas I'll have another some day (i just hope i can find one in as good a shape as the one i own now!) Take a look and tell me what you think... Ebay link
5. Thanks jmortensen. Every time i post a thread you always reply with great information! Thanks again. So have you figured out how to "seal" the areas where the frame rail didn't meet perfectly in the back, or are you just going to leave it open?
6. Hi All, Been thinking about finally doing some frame connectors to stiffen up the car (240z) and connect the front and rear rails. I was looking around the internet yesterday and saw that bad dog parts now offers new front/rear rails. Anyone have any experience with these? They look very nice, but i'm not sure how strong they would be. Am i just better off making my own from square tubing?

Interesting, i'll check it out. So i just read that article, it ditched one SU and then just used one? Am i looking at that right? How could one provide enough fuel? Weird... Veritech-z, that hybridz thread is really good. Thanks for posting it. After reading that, it's a dead issue as far as i'm concerned. Oh well...

I'm not a big fan of blown carburator cars (mostly because they never seem to work entirely great and are a bitch to tune). But i was thinking today, the SU's are not like your standard carb, since they meter the air as it comes in and add fuel accordingly, their almost (in theory) like a fuel injected car. You guys think i'd be possible to take a small turbo, maybe one from a 300zx Twin turbo (just one), and split it into two pipes and direct it thru the SU's? Just bored and thinking about different things. Would it work (moderate boost maybe 8psi). What gains (hp) you think you would get? Too hard to do? (i'm not thinking so). What do ya think?
9. I don't know why you guys are having such a problem with the TEP bar, it really fit near perfect on my car. I had to enlarge 2 holes just about 1/16th of an inch. I have had a crazy busy few weeks, but i will try and snap some pics off when i get a chance. Jay
10. The triangle design stops front/back movenent as well as side to side. I did not cut the vinyl at all, the lower triangulated part is like a U groove that fits over the shock tower brace (vinyl and all). It did come with a bolt, but there were no holes drilled into the U, nor do i think anything to bolt it through at that location. The top caps can be put right back into place. I think it looks great! I've been slacking on getting some pic's up. I'll try and snap a few off tomorrow...
11. Hmm, the rear fit quite well. I had to elongate the bolt holes just a hair (probably because the car was already flexed/tweaked a little with age). Other than that, no problems...

I have that hole too. Mine was from a trailer hitch i removed when i bought the car. That's probably where yours came from too...
13. I'll take some tomorrow
14. I've had this thing sitting in the garage for a few months now. Never got around to installing it. Finally put it on the car yesterday and Wow, all i can say is wow! My car feels like a completely different car. Gone are all the shakes/rattles from the rear of the car. It feels completely solid now. Going around turns... no flex at all! The car's tighter, more agile. Even simple things like going over bumps, potholes, driveways, etc. No flex, and the load is distributed so evenly, you can really feel it. Probably the best thing i've done to change the driving experience of the car for the better. I never thought it would do so much! My only regret is not buying the front one too! I highly reccomend it...
15. Beandip, I don't know how you got that muffler to tuck up so it can hardly be seen. My muffler is almost touching the trunk floor and it is an offset inlet as well, at least half of the muffler sticks out of the bottom...
16. So I got around to installing the Super turbo (manifold back) exhaust I bought from MSA yesterday. I decided to install it sans any pre muffler first, to see if I liked the sound/loudness before I screwed with the kit. I love the sound! I have never cared for Dynomax muffler's sound (on other cars), so i thought I’d be replacing the muffler almost immediately, but on the Z it really works well. It gives the car a nice throaty sound, dare I say almost classic Ferrari sounding. But the car seems to pop/backfire now on almost every shift (in the upper revs). It never did that before with the stock exhaust. I was thinking I’d gain some top end as well; my stock exhaust was some shitty press-bent, super small, Midas looking junk from the previous owner. But the bottom end has seemed to improve with no gain on the top end (which is backwards to conventional wisdom when going to a bigger "free flowing" exhaust. Weird... Some things I don’t like: The exhaust hangs very low under the car, it's scraping off of driveways, etc now. Also, to get it to fit i had to compromise between the bend/pipe lining up with the mount cut-out in the rear (before the dif) or hanging even lower. So I’d say fit wasn't as good as i hoped it would be. They shorted me a clamp with the kit (had to go out and buy one), and I have to say, I hate the way the muffler hangs down in the back (because it's a horizontal muffler turned vertical). It really looks stupid in my opinion, like it was rigged up or something. So overall, I guess I’m happy for now. I think I may buy a round canister type muffler in the future though, not for sound but more for looks. And I’m going to have to take it to an exhaust shop to see if they can maybe heat it and bend it up a little so it's not so low/scraping the ground. Hope this helps someone else when choosing to buy the kit or not...

Thanks Mark. I guess i'll install it on the car and see if i like it, then go the pre muffler way if i don't. Besides the resonance, you liked the sound before the glasspack install? How loud was it?
18. Jayru posted a post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
Anyone on here using it? What does it sound like? I bought the full Al exhaust MSA offers and it comes with that muffler. The guy at MSA said the Super Turbo was quieter than the regular Turbo muffler and overall it wasn't loud. Is that true? I don't want the car to be loud, just a little more throaty than stock. I'd hate for it to sound like a bumbllebee or something.
19. Well, i just bought about $550 worth of stuff for the car today so it looks like i'll be holding on to it for a while Once i pulled it out of the garage and drove it, i was hooked all over again...
20. Thanks guys. Yes it is the car in my gallery. Don't get me wrong, i do love the car. I think i just want something i can enjoy more on a regular basis. Still undecided at the moment...
21. Hey guys, So I’ve had my original owner, 82k mile, 72 240z for almost two years now, and i'm thinking of selling. Honestly, the car is great fun, but I never drive it. It's not a car that I can/would take on long trips or drive daily because of many reasons (ride quality, noise, no A/C, creature comforts, etc.). So it just sits unless I’m buzzing around town on a Sunday. I really miss having something fun/fast up to the task of a DD. I started my datsun/nissan adventure many years ago with a 300zx twin turbo, and have owned two over the years. I'm seriously thinking of returning to my roots. I really love those 300zx's, and it's a car I can drive every day (in comfort with all the accessories/amenities and power I can handle). So am i crazy? Should I reconsider? Here are some specs on my car: 72 240z, Aprox 82k miles, bought from the original owner (by me), I have the original owners manual and service book. Drivetrain: Original 2.4l & 4-speed trans/rear. Motor runs strong and fires right up. Electronic ignition from the later 280z, MSD coil (still have the whole original points/dist setup) Converted to a new internally regulated alternator (have the entire original ext. setup) New Battery Complete tune up done, carbs balanced and adjusted Boiled and sealed gas tank with all new filler neck/gas hoses throughout the system (and overflow tank), New sending unit & fuel pump. New Brake Master Cylinder, Clutch Master & Slave Cylinder, SS clutch line Body/Exterior: Lime Yellow (repainted in the late 80's) quality job and the paint still shines/looks great. Almost all the body parts were replaced with fiberglass though - Hood, fenders, headlight buckets, rockers, and quarters, all fiberglass. The rust was cut out & treated from the quarters and rockers and the fiberglass bonded over. Obviously there's some scratches/dings/etc. but overall it looks great. New fiberglass front spoiler (have the original setup) Usual Surface rust on the floors/battery tray in some spots, nothing major (still very solid, no holes!) No Rust! Frame rails, etc. New MSA Power antenna (uninstalled) Wheels/Suspension: New 15" Koing Rewinds, Brand New tires (forgot the brand) less than 150 miles on wheels and tires. Still have the Original steel wheels with like new tires and 4 original Z hubcaps (I’d rate them good to great condition). New Tokico 5 way adjustable struts with matched Tokico springs (rear installed, front still in box). Poly bushing kit, new in box except for rear bump stops (installed). Interior: (All original) black interior, original UN-cracked dash, small rip in the drivers seat (almost unnoticeable), otherwise in great shape. Rip in center console arm rest. Original rubber 240z floor mats. I have all the original parts for anything i upgraded, even the original front/back bumper guards. I also have a ton of spare tune up/ignition/carb/gasket/etc parts that are too much to list here. So what is a fair asking price guys?
22. Thanks for the sugestions guys. Interesting point about the radiator. I'm prety sure i have the original 2 row unit. So is the 4 row unit that much better/worth the money over the three row one MSA offers? I used to have a 550hp supercharged mustang that had a three core rad, it always stayed nice and cool. Are Z's so bad that they need the 4 core?
23. Hey Guys, My 72 240z began to overheat a few days ago while driving around town. So i've decided to overhall the entire cooling system (hoses, waterpump, thermostat, etc). My question is, go with an electric fan or use a new fan clutch and radiator shroud (the one MSA sells for the 240)? At first i thought going the clutch/shroud way would be cheaper, but after pricing it out, it's almost the same price if not more for the latter... Any suggestions?
24. A question. What holds the front spoiler on? Just the side bolt on the fenders and under the blinkers? I ask because i just bought one and there's no center support like the stock piece, seems like it would stress and crack the fiberglass with no support in the middle.
