  1. They are enough of a hazard that you will fail tech with SCCA, NASA, POC, etc. They break for a variety of reasons, not just impact.
  2. Glass fuel filters are a safety hazard.
  3. What Chickenman said above is true in my experience. Around 200hp I would use a Nissan pressure plate and a Daiken or Exidy clutch. Unfortunately you can't get the Nissan Motorsports clutch and pressure plate anymore. Both were very good.
  4. IMHO, the Centerforce pressure plate with those weights is a POS. The increase in release pressure at higher rpm caused by those weights put a lot of load on the thrust bearing in the engine and the added mass of that pressure plate puts a bigger load on the transmission synchros. A number of us who raced in ITS years ago wouldn't run those things even when Centerforce gave them to us for free. I guess if you just putt around and the street they would be OK.
  5. When shimming brake pads you want the trailing end of the pad to engage the rotor surface first. That reduces the vibration (and squeal) if the pad hit the rotors normal to the rotor surface.
  6. You can also lift the car under the TC rod chassis mounts and the seat belt pockets at the rear of the floor pan.
  7. None of the plug connectors thread on that I know of, except maybe some older setups for magnetos. The Porsche ones click on like the Rajah. This is generally not a big issue and I take a pair of pliers to the threaded on caps when I changed plugs on my Zs. Always check the gap too. And if you're really anal, index the plugs using this washer kit from Moroso. http://www.jegs.com/p/Moroso/Moroso-Spark-Plug-Indexing-Washers/748785/10002/-1
  8. Porsche has been using uses the threaded type of plug connector since 1949. Never an issue. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Rajah-7mm-Spark-Plug-Wire-Ends-Straight,8490.html
  9. An air hammer, penetrating oil, and heat has always worked for me. I've probably pulled 50 spindle pins over the years. Luckily I've never had to cut one out. When reassembling be sure to use lots of anti-seize. 20 years from now someone will thank you.
  10. Good lawyers. Cheating people has absolutely nothing to do with how a company is organized.
  11. LLC is essentially no different then an S corporation. Both legal protections can be pierced by a good lawyer. All it takes is a couple personal transactions from the business accounts and the S Corp/LLC shield is useless. Single member LLCs and S Corps are even more vulnerable. As always, the conduct of a business is 100% in the hands of the owners, regardless of the type of company organization.
  12. My drill bit strategy is the opposite. I buy cheap jobber drill bits and throw them away when they get dull. I'm careful to always use cutting oil, make sure the bit is making chips, and not spin them too fast. I can get 30 to 40 holes in mild steel before they dull.
  13. They used the words "scrap" and "shock" in the headline to sensationalize it and get site visits and clicks. Its a poorly sourced article (a reprint from Autocar) based on a rumor from an "insider." It conveys no solid information and exists only as click bait. I will apologize if I'm wrong and we will know the answer by 9/28/15. And my link below is not sensationalized or provocative in nature so it really can't be considered click bait.
  14. Do you really think Nissan is going to use the Z name on a crossover? You guys are responding to click bait.
  15. Proper packaging costs money. Most people don't want to pay for proper packaging because they shop primarily by price. We are a WalMart society and complain because we don't get Nordstrom's service.
  16. Turn 16 is the most important turn for fast lap times at the Cal Speedway sports car track layout. You should be foot to the floor exiting that turn and only have to lift to help turn in for turn 1. Turn 9 is also important for the infield straight. Ideally you'll run an asymmetric alignment emphasizing left turns.
  17. You and the 911 played well together. Nice driving.
  18. Yes, the springs are unique to the S30 and yes, Stagg and Jdmwekrs are the same company, and yes they purchased the entire production run of the springs from Vogtland. Jack Mardikian is the man behind this. This is what Jack does for fun:
  19. If you're just tooling around then you don't care about handling. Driving at 4/10ths of a car's ability doesn't require good handling.
  20. Its probably worth $800. Take the rear cover off and make sure its a CLSD. You should also be able to see the ratio numbers stamped on the rung gear.
  21. Limited Slip Diff. The best bang for your buck handling and performance modification.
  22. Halfshafts are $20 each. What diff housing (R180, R200)? What CLSD (NIssan, OS Giken, Powerbrute)? What condition?
