Look up ! We're sending a Martin Mars bomber . They are coming from Vancouver Island , and scoop 10,000 gallons of water in 23 seconds . Of course $1200 per hour private contract , but it is a sight for sure , flying slowly with 4 engines vibrating the ear drums , and the massive wingspan ! Hope it all turns out better , but at over 1400 homes lost , help can't come sooner !

Yep . Ask for black facecaps .

I'm a locksmith , and you can get replacement facecaps that have ''tangs'' on them . You remove the lock , peel the old cap , and replace , and yes, you can get black ones and stainless ones, your choice . Replace the gasket at this time as well . Good luck !

This is of course an apples to oranges comparison, I have both a 1970 z and a 1973 corvette c3 convertible . The gm has the v8 appeal , it's got a gm crate motor ( 330 horse ) , and it's been restored ( yellow with a black stripe ekklers stinger big block hood ) and torque thruster 11's . The z czr though is quicker ( built crown turbo, 5 lbs boost , fun fun ) . The vette wallows around corners , and the body and frame tourques and twists if you hammer it around corners . I must say the vette's brakes are much better though ( 4 wheel discs ) . Sadly due to storage issues the z is for sale , otherwise I think I have the best of both worlds !

I'm running the Crown turbo kit with a single big SU from a Jaguar . It's running 5 lbs boost , and I never have to tweak a thing ! It's as dependable as a Cummins , and with a 3'' exaust , 8.5 compression , it's a joy to own and drive . Drivers behind me can really hear that blade spinning . Also, my gas mileage is phenominal , as compared to most .

Or ..... it sounds like rich exaust carbon coming out with cold start up moisture - splatters like oil, but dries leaving a paint can splatter on the ground directly behind the pipe in the mornings , no ?
  10. My Jan 1970 car vin # 538 has the red dot mirror , so it made it into later ''early'' cars I suppose . By the way this car is for sale , no hijack intended .
  11. Time to replace the ignition cylinder , and have a new one set to your existing door keys to match . Take the car to a good locksmith shop , or have a mobile guy come out . The housing has to come off the column, then the roll pins removed , then the new unit re installed . I'm a lock- smith , so bring it to a shop that has the right parts . Here that job brings between 120.00 - 160.00 , but may be less in your area . Do a search on this topic on this site for more info if needed !
  12. Say guys , can you give a step by step on the best way to winter store an old Zcar ? Yeah it's been a while , and I don't see low temps here , but it might help getting a few good tips ! :classic:
  13. Insert key, and gently rap it with the plastic handle of a screwdriver. Otherwise have your key rebuilt by a competent locksmith , either by decoding the key or cut new from a code found on a door lock housing. Could be a worn ignition cylinder , or a bent wafer in the ignition . Could even be a broken steering lock 'lockbolt' assembly . Try silicone spray right in the keyhole , and don't be afraid to drown it ! Flood it , and run your key in and out , and clean the black crap off with a cloth each time . Good luck !
  14. Austin, what kind of tires/ size are those you're running ?

Sounds like you need a new door lock AND cam assembly - go to a decent locksmith , and get a lock , set it to your existing key , then see if you can locate a cam from the dealer . Option 2 - find a wreck and get the part if it's in good shape . The plug's end drives the cam , and that's where the wear takes place . While you're in there lube all moving parts and mechanisms , including the window tracks ( guides ) . PS just replacing either cam or lock , not both , will guarantee future problems - replace both at the same time , with NEW parts if at all possible ! Also straighten any bent rods screwed up by over zealous tow truck drivers that like to slim jim cars open with force.

This nice gentleman you all speak of was in my driveway 2 months ago . Stood me up 4 times over the past 2 years or so ,2 no shows on a car, and 2 no shows on a parts car. Finally he showed , and offered a whole $200 Canadian after wasting my time ''going over '' the car .
  20. No . You used the word " Wabbies ", you blew it.
