I'm a little floored ! Even if it's a possible 'clone' fake , you couldn't buy one and restore it to that condition for 12,500 . The buyer, in my opinion , got a smokin' good deal ! Hope he joins the club though...

DATSUN GEEKS ! Do you all wear pocket protectors too ? You guys sound / read like the characters on '' Napoleon Dynamite '' !
  3. Please link . What a cool video ! Imagine the money spent .....

The radio is from a later car as well, but now's the time to wager the results , no ? I say $21,000 . By the way , WHY do cars listed that are so close to being complete always have a few things that don't work ? Come on , get the think completely functional , right ? Gimme a break the radio dosen't work , the antenna won't go up..... fix it already ! :tapemouth
  5. This is what happens when projects go wrong ! Someone please link this ebay item . ( 70 240z ) .
  6. So cool . Do you have both low and high beams using only the one lense ? Was there much cutting / metal work if any ? I have an aftermarket twin ballast / hid set up that really works well except I can only run high beams aimed low , I'm missing the daytime running ligh bulbs . The car gets lots of double takes with the headlights on - old meets high tech !
  7. Now that the game's over and the Seahawks lost , this is a probable no sale . Classic example of fans emotions gone stupid ! If it sells for that amount I'm buying stickers and I'm putting them on a toilet on ebay . :stupid: Oh wait - I see the reserve hasn't been met yet !! Maybe when the bid goes past $10,000 we'll see a sale !

I'm with Mike on this one . Build / buy a done up motor and install . A single turbo / single carb old school is fun too , beat on it and save the worry of punishing the original stuff . Of course you would have to beef the rest of the 'train .......:pirate:

Your old worn out keys can be decoded by a competent locksmith. With the actual '' bitting '' numbers , the info can be put into a computerized code cutter . The end result ? You , the customer , walks away with a factory perfect key that will perform like it should, unless your locks are shot. Did you know a worn key can put thousands of ''miles'' of wear on your sticking door locks and ignition cylinders ? Takes about 5 minutes and less than $20.00 !! Get it done , it's a really cheap investment .
  10. Talk about winning a lottery ! A convertible too ( drool ) ! Too bad they never made a topless Zcar .

Mike , settle down . No flame intended, as you can't see me smile when I added my two cents in . Sure you're no fool , I can see that by you justifying the 76.00 per blank . Now I understand ! ROFL . Seriously , I didn't mean to rough you up about something as small and insignificant as a key blank . Happy New Year , I'll send you that case tomorrow .

How do you capitalize the first letter in every word of your post ? Oh , that was my outside voice wasn't it .... what's the car's vin number ?

Many customers appreciate ORIGINAL dealer blanks . As a locksmith , I am happy to supply them where I can . New cars have keys that must be programmed into the vehicle's computer - but old dealer blanks from the 60's and 70's are getting harder to find - I'm in Canada and I CAN still find dusty dealer blanks hanging on hooks or stacked in boxes to be recycled . The customer appreciates the added quality to the dealer blanks , not the crap offshore stuff trust me - the next time you break a crap quality key off in your door or ignition you will remember this thread ! :stupid:

Go to an old school locksmith shop . Ask the owner to see what he has in the way of original Datsun blanks . You'd be surprised ! Also , replacement ignition plugs can be had for a reasonable cost to replace those worn ones . You don't have to replace the entire ignition , just the center piece where the key slides in . Same with door locks ! Just be smart and source them besides running to ebay with your hard earned dollars .

Ebay is a great place to get rid of old key blanks for large $ ! I am a locksmith and it never ceases to surprise me what some common key blanks go for at auction . Please don't pay more than 5-10 bucks for these - they are readily available ! The fool who pays upwards 100.00 US has a hoarding problem !
  16. Zthing , you have to understand that really early ''anything'' to do with z cars is expensive ! Your car and manuals are nothing compared to these items and the people that bid to win them . $200.00 for a small plastic clip for the inspection lid is a small pittance to those who think they really need it . Your '72 is worth little , and geez the manuals for it are toilet paper ! Seriously , Merry Christmas etc.
  17. The ebayer emailed me not to clarify the statement '' it's the real thing '', but to state simply '' what do you want ? I've got the paperwork ! I'm not misrepresenting anything ( because he's got a few live ones bidding RIGHT NOW ... ) . Now , where's that wascally wabbit ha ha ha ha ha !!!
  18. Item # 4592398396 ! Historical interest . Please link properly , I'm computer illiterate .

Wouldn't the name ''Sharkman'' give a hint ? The waters are a churnin' already !
  20. That explains why the car on the cover was turned slightly, not a straight side picture. I just bought a manual from a supplier ! Almost mint for $40.00, published 15th November, 1970. So you figure what is an original am radio worth? You mean I could have paid more ? :pirate:
  21. Those inspection clips went for over $200.00 usd to one of this site's members. Same with an owner's manual to someone else - $130.00 usd. The world has gone mad here too I see :stupid: No offense- I've bought an original radio for 128.00, and still wonder why- maybe it's ebay and the perceived pressure to raise that bid! I watched a 1970 Dodge go to $220,000 usd 2 days ago, I don't think it reached the reserve. Koito headlamp assemblies for over $400.00 ? I'm out. The wife needs a new kitchen, I would like a hot tub.

Thanks ! All seals are new, but I'll check the deck lid grommets. Question - after reading some banter about the first shipment of series 1 cars to North America, do we know for sure which were the serial numbers ? Wait, it gets better! From what Carl B. writes, about 537 zcars were pruduced in '69, which includes that first shipment of 500 cars. My car's vin is # 538. Did it ''miss the boat'' , or make it? I'm not including the right hand drive cars in this case. Question 2 - were any shipped to Canada, and if so when? Not including those 2 ''test'' cars I've seen in pictures. Thanks for any info, the more the better! Cheers.

Hi ! I see your sig- wow twins! And early! What do you do about the exaust smell coming in the cab? If my fan isn't on, our eyes will water and clothes smell like we've been at Indy!

Thanks Mike ! I will upload pictures when I figure it out. Former member Steve sold me the car, and I bought it Robin Leach style not wanting to "build" a car from parts off ebay! He must have invested over $30,000 Canadian in the tastefully modified restoration. After driving this midlife crisis for a few sunny weekends, I know now what a rare few enjoy! That being said, this car #00538 is for sale. I feel like a pimp :disappoin The car will be properly advertised in the spring, unless someone wants it for a Christmas present for their spouse  . Original motor goes with it.
