  1. Bobby Lee, I would recommend that you pull the mechanical fuel pump. However, with trip-carbs, "flow rate" is just as important as "pressure rate." You should ensure that your fuel pump has the capacity to push out at least 60 GPH at a minimum of 3 PSI. I use a Holley red top, that puts out 71 GPH at 4 PSI and I try to keep my pressure just below 4 PSI. Hope this helps..... George

This is what the Nissan 2400 OHC looks like.....
  3. Ed, Where in NM are you? I'm in El Paso and heading over on I-10..... Am trying to convince a Z buddy to take his car although he thinks it won't make it. But if we are heading out the same way perhaps we can meet up..... George

Christopher, The best price for Illumina's that I found on Ebay recently was $395 just for the shocks. My surprise was that Yoogener got the struts and coil-overs for $400.

Wow...you got yourself a GREAT deal.... Tokico Illumina's are well over $400. and with coilovers included that is a fantastic price.....

Am very happy with my Tokico shock & spring set which replaced my KYB's with MSA Euro Springs. Got what I thought was a great deal at www.shox.com. $405 for shocks and springs, delivered free.
  7. Thanks Mike.... that says it all.....
  8. Dave, Quick question. What is the difference between your driving light harness and that sold by VB? George

The plot thickens.... seems like Ebay pulled this auction. This listing (#4617046731) has been removed or is no longer available. Please make sure you entered the right item number. If the listing was removed by eBay, consider it cancelled. Wonder what gives?????

Well, it went for $12,500.... surprise, surprise. The first bidder withdrew his bid. Took him four days to figure out he entered the wrong number. Right. But the serial numbers certainly look suspicious.....They do not appear to be even, lots of little extra marks on them.... I wonder....

  12. Ziebart is still around and you can fina a dealer close to you at ziebart.com. I would think you should have no problem getting some caps, which, by the way, are black now with their name on it. I had my Z Ziebart'd the second day I owned it and it was the best thing I ever did to it..... 33 years and I have no major rust problems.

Remember, it's on Ebay and we all know what can happen there..... But I think it should bring 14-16K. Of course, I bought mine new 33 years ago for $4,400.... best 4 grand I ever spent.
  14. My advice is to get rid of it. If for no other reason, it's unsightly and I doubt it is doing much good in your set-up. Of course, I have a 73 and it went through modifications at the dealership that did nothing to improve drivability. I took mine off and it would be my guess that it was not made of asbestos. Rather, it was a heavy-duty foil material that contained no dust that I recall. As soon as my warranty ran out, I also removed the smog pump, all its attachments and of course the carbs. Replaced the carbs with trip-Mikuni’s, built myself a heat shield below them and have not had a lick of problems in that area since. I am, however, curious why you would have this installed on your 1970 Z? George

  16. Arne.... if you start making some up please let me know..... George
  17. You can try Gary Meekins at Spanky's Auto Body on Alma School Road (644-0060). He has done a lot of work on my car. Gary is extremely knowlegeable with Z's and works very closely with Arizona Z car. Just to give you an idea of how good I think he is, I live in El Paso, Texas, and drive the 400 miles to Gary when something critical needs to be fixed..... George

You can try AutoZone..... They have a set that looks very similar to yours for $24.99. I don't recall if they were Tornados or not but I can check tomorrow when I go by there..... George

Thanks Bart..... With the Z Specialties alt you don't have to change any bushings or install any diodes.... it is about as close to plug and play as you can get. As I mentioned, I installed a heavier cable to the battery but that was my choice. 105 amps is great..... will try to send Dan a PM regarding his harness.... George

Bart & Dave, Thanks..... would you happen to know the difference between what VB sells and Dave's creation? George
  21. ZIII replied to landmizzle's post in a topic in Electrical
Gary, Do you know who is selling the harness? I know that VB has a harness in their catalog ($29.95) but that seems like just for the high and low beams. Is this harness sold by one of our members cover the rear/tail lights also? Thanks, George

I recently bought and installed a Z Specialty Alt and couldn’t be happier. This is one of the best mods I have ever done to my car. Regarding your consternation concerning the connections, that is really a small point. I did use the stock ground wire but the hot was completely replaced with a thicker gauge wire with a proper solder on the connection ring that fits onto the alt. Can’t say enough good things about this mod…. Even if you do not require a lot of juice, car seems to run so much better….. Enjoy your blinkers…. George

Premium here is 2.69.... regular is 2.49..... Had a Hummer guy yesterday at the pump almost in tears..... $72.50 for a fill up...... Brace yourself though, its going to get worse before it gets better.....

The lady at Victoria Bristish knows what she is talking about. The Monza is a stock diameter.... If you are going with a 2.5 you may also want to consider headers in order to maximise flow.... I see you are using trip Solex's. If that's the case, I would really recommend you put a set of headers on with the 2.5....
