Having been the original owner of my car I had a reference. The easiest way would be to take the length of the two longest stickers and add approximately 3/16" and center that total length then put the larger sticker as close as possible to the lip of the outer edge of the inner seal surface and the smallest sticker 3/16" over toward the front of the air box equal distance from the inner seal surface then place the longer white sticker equal distance from the main sticker and from the smallest sticker. Is that as clear as mud?

I need a horn mechanism for a 1972 Datsun 240Z stock steering wheel.
  3. I am in need of a horn mechanism (button) for a stock 72 steering wheel. See picture. I would appreciate if someone is willing to sell one. Thanks JLP
  4. I am still waiting for the shop to change mine out. They have had them almost 3 weeks. Insult to injury is that they are not being changed out due to the rebuild of a blown Porsche engine.

I absolutely do not know anything about these covers. I agree with you in looking at my warranty book the inside pages were stapled and then the cover was glued over the staples. I always wondered how they typed the information on the inside of the cover without damaging the book. I have noticed that some dealers filled out the inside of the covers by hand. My book is typed.

There is a lot of about 15 of them, as well as a number of blank window stickers. I don't know the original source.

I first scraped off the gaskets and then sand blasted the air box to remove all of the material. Coated with etching primer sanded then sealer primer light sand then paint.

An antique dealer friend contacted me saying he had something that I might be interested in. I have told him, in the past, to look for Datsun dealership signs etc... I do not know what to think of what he had found, they are Warranty book covers only. I did buy them from him along with some old Datsun window sticker sheets, and paid more than I should have . I went by the philosophy of American Pickers when you see something you have not seen before buy it. The window sticker sheets were on traction feed perforated paper he had torn them apart for easier stacking. I have attached a copy of the warranty book cover.

I just finished refreshing my air cleaner. I am ok with the results, could have been better. I will probably start over next winter.
  12. The modified backing plates are complete. I am happy with the results, they look factory. I believe having backing plates along with my MK63 caliper upgrade will enhance the overall upgrade.
  13. Original, Datsun accessory spook from 1972.
  14. That is what my local speed shop said when they tried to find them for me. They said that someone had most likely mixed and matched springs that work for our application.
  15. I have KYB's and hope my car carries the same level as yours once complete. I did confirm with MSA that the 01's go on the front. It is interesting that no one but MSA has the Eibach progressive springs for the Z's. These are packaged for MSA exclusively.
  16. That will be disappointing, but I will have to see how it looks. If I don't like it I will change it next winter. Thanks for the heads up. jlp
  17. What would shipping be to Indiana 47374. They make great fun office chairs.
  18. A friend of mine here in Richmond purchased this car. I believe he got a great deal and he is happy with the purchase. He had made an offer from the start, prior to it ever being listed on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Datsun-Z-Series-/182486843636?nma=true&si=79ZTciTaRkYi%2FESZqv984O6hf2U%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  19. Gav, I don't believe that others installing this system are considering brake bias (balance), but I had a set on my race car years ago and did have an inline system to balance the system. I still have those and will see if I need them in this application. These calipers are rare, reproductions are now available. I did not want reproduction calipers and was lucky in finding a set of NOS along with NOS rebuild kits for the future. The nice thing about the fact that these are being reproduced is that reproduction rebuild parts are now available and like the microprocessors for rally clocks this has driven up the value of the original rare calipers.
  20. I have all of the suspension off the car for clean up and installation of Eibach progressive springs. I am also working on installation of the MK63 calipers. Kats has helped me find the parts needed to complete the project. (vented rotors, spring clips etc...) I have began the process of modifying a set of backing plates for the new calipers. I have marked a spare set of backing plates (silver area to be cut out and metal rolled over to resemble factory). I have a metal shop that will complete this for me, then I will clean the backing plates up (media blast) and have them powder coated. I believe that having backing plates will give a more complete look to the upgrade. I will continue to update as I progress.
  21. The final word on the Eibach Springs for the S30. I read up on them on this site and ordered a set. I have the suspension pulled and want to make sure I have it correct. Their seems to be much confusion on front and rear placement of the new progressive springs. I thought I had the placement figured out until I pulled the suspension and became confused. The stock springs are long in the rear and shorter up front. The Eibach progressive are the opposite according to most of what I have read on this site. So do I have it correct the Long Eibach springs ending in the number 01 go on the front and the short springs ending in the number 02 go on the rear. Correct?
  22. Actually had a few hours free to work on my Z. I waxed the rear suspension parts and began to put it back together including the new rear hangers with mounting points for installation of sway bar. I am still waiting for the new springs then rear upgrade will be complete, then will start on the front suspension.

My extra seats are now office chairs. Makes your day go by quicker!
  24. Guilty as charged, but if someone needs them later and I don't change my mind they will be restored and available for trade. JLP
  25. Thanks Chris, these look like the third example. I think I might try to pick these up. One will have another $300 or so in them once re-plated. I don't plan to go this route as of now, but they will only be harder to find in the future if I do.
