Would he like to sell it? (for a song)

    R200 Finned Differential.
  3. Who bought it? It was hard to not bid on this at the price. I watched it in the final 9 minutes and thought of what it would be like to have another Z and be single again. I decided at the last second not to bid.
  4. Steve, I agree. This one is only going to go up in value. The time is now!
  5. At one time, I had a rally clock in my car and over time removed it and really did not know the uniqueness of it until reading about them on this site. I would like to see, like I do with any new project, if I can find some working or non-working parts and pieces and restore a working example to put back in my Z. This is one currently on Yahoo Japan, opening bid very high, wires cut, and I have tons of the other gauges. But they are out there.

No, this one seems to have been sanded on and possibly a screw broken off in one of the bracket mounting points on the top. Mine is as original no sanding, stored for 30 years+ and ready for clean up. Looking at what this one is bringing I believe that I will put at least one of mine on EBAY and see how it goes. I would help pay for some of my current project expenses!
  7. Sounds good, I am considering having Dave build me a 2.7 stroker (purist engine) using my numbers matching engine. He suggested I go for the 3.1 and sit my engine aside. This is how I have some Idea of the cost. Still undecided, but have all summer to consider it. JLP
  8. Just found this on Yahoo Japan. I believe that this auction is for one JDM headlight cover not a pair, but I am not sure about that and I cannot figure out how to contact the seller on Yahoo Japan. http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/e213835571
  9. Metalman, I have a set of door skins if you need any details from them let me know.
  10. The NOS large diameter fuel tank vent hose delivered today. As soon as the 7.5 and 4.5 fuel line arrives I will be ready to put the tank back in the car.
  11. Dave Rebello will built that engine for around $7,800 with not core parts, if I am not mistaken. I would like to know what the dyno output is on this engine. Looks like a good deal if that is the style Z you are interested in.
  12. Your are correct these are for the vented rotors. The seller did not know, but I am happy with the purchase. I have a couple of options. Find the parts I need and install this set or trade these parts out for a sent on non-vented. I would really prefer non-vented, but will be happy either way. I am thankful that Kats is helping me navigate the Japanese market to find these parts. I have gone on Yahoo Japan and found some of the parts, bidding is difficult and I don't feel comfortable bidding on parts that I am not sure are correct.
  13. I have an attic full of parts for the same unknown reason! I can't seem to toss them away.
  14. They are the cloth braided. The lines on the carbs, as I recollect, were as pictured with all of the other hoses being the cloth braided lines. I have found the NOS cloth braided vent lines for the fuel tank. The seller of the large diameter vent hose claims that it is the last NOS in existance. I don't know if that is true, I doubth it, but I paid like it was. The rest of the, non-preformed lines at the tank will be replaced with the cloth braded line I ordered and clamped with restored original wire clamps. I will also replace the rubber hoses on the right side of the engine with the braided fuel line. The car in the photo has more emissions equipment than my 72 had when purchased. JLP
  15. Yes, the original look when someone looks under the car or opens the hood, to some of us purist, is gratifying. The total cost of the original style hose was under $50.00 shipped. I have spent much more for much less when it comes to my car projects. Just to clarify, that is for the fuel hose not the NOS pre-formed vent hoses. Those were the proverbial "arm and a leg".
  16. I have a NOS set of Vent hoses on the way for the fuel tank and just ordered 4.5mm & 7.5mm cloth wrapped fuel line for replacement of all of the other fuel lines. I have a complete set of re-plated original hose clamps to finish this project off. Ordered cloth wrapped fuel hose from PartsKlassik.
  17. Set of vented rotors on Yahoo Japan. I believe that these are correct. http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/c589770837?lang=en&rc=yaucc
  18. These are the additional parts that I purchased with the calipers. I need two more spring clips that hold the brake pad shims, brake pad shims, spring clips that hold the pad retaining pins in place and possibly vented rotors.
  19. Here are the MK63 and parts that I received today. I will need to pick up a few other parts but happy overall.
  20. Kats, I just received the calipers. The space for the rotor is 23.62mm where the one you show is 15.9mm. I will assume that these are for the vented rotors. That means quite a bid of additional expense for the rotors. There are enough extra seals to rebuild both calipers and 4 NOS pistons a set of pads ( I will check to make sure they are correct), 4 NOS pad retaining pins (without the clips to hold them in place). Two of the 4 needed spring clips to hold the shim plates in place but not shims. So if I decide to go ahead and install these I Know at this point that I would need vented rotors, 4 brake pad shims, 4 spring clips to hold in the pad retaining pins, 2 spring clips to hold the brake pad shims in place. Possibly brake pads I will check on this using your measurements. I will post a picture of the calipers and parts this evening. I also plan to pull the pistons to make sure the NSO calipers are in good condition internally.
  21. This is why I find it hard to discuss the value of a car without seeing, smelling, and touching. The initial pictures of the car show a "re-fresh paint job" ID tags not removed etc..but the assumption that it was just a re-fresh due to the lack of need of a restoration can be assumed by the nicely presented awards, look of the interior etc....Now that the additional photos have been posted a very different assessment has to be made. The car has had major rust repair done badly (what else is lurking under that re-fresh paint job?). To a untrained person who wants to get in on the upward movement of Z values this car is the Venus Fly Trap of cars as so many cars are.
  22. I am planning to replace all of the fuel lines with cloth wrapped hose. I just measured and it looks like two sizes one for all of the supply side and another size for all of the return lines. I get 5 and 7.62 mm ID does any one know these sizes for sure? Thanks in advance. Jerry
  23. Metalman, I have a set of door skins if you need any details from them let me know.
  24. Metaman, can't wait to see the finished product. I have a brother firefighter that had makes metal reproduction hoods (Hoosier Hoods) for early roadsters. They ship all of the world. It is amazing what he can do with metal. Once my FIA brakes arrive he is going to make backing plates for my z that look factory but fit the FIA brake calipers. I will post once made. Thanks for working on a project such as this for all of us owners. JLP
  25. I had one of these which I wore the cover off of back in the 70's. A couple of years ago a young lady (Sarah Bee) who lives out west, owns an early Z, autocrosses it, and had been following my Oddessey post on this site was in the area and stopped by. I gave her my How to Modify Datsun book to help her with tuning her autocross car. I know she has put it to good use.
