  1. Detailed photos of groupings of parts. "Engine prior to removal and then photo of all of the removed parts and brackets", " Engine compartment etc...." and some times it's just the bolt that was left over...LOL
  2. Ignore the fuel lines they would not do them. Only the smalls. I ended up buying new stainless lines.
  3. Jeff, if you had them ready, you could ship them to me and I will take them for you. The shipping might get a bit pricey. I cannot express enough that they must be ready for plating and all possible small parts daisy chained with metal wire. I will attach a picture of my parts after wire brushing and daisy chaining.

Just found the NOS large diameter vent hose for my fuel tank. Hard to find had to pay $200.00 for the hose...OUCH! Once I get it I will be ready to put the NOS tank back in and fire the Z back up. I am getting excited after talking to Dave Rebello about the possibility of a purist build for my Z next winter. Any thoughts on my taking my matching numbers engine and having a stock appearing 2.7 stroker built.
  5. You have to wire, (daisy chain) all the parts you can together. I have not lost any parts to date. I plan to take a bunch of parts over in the near future. I made a wire basket to allow me to media blast my parts in my blast cabinet and then I run over them quickly with a wire brush to smooth the finish for a nice plating finish. You can see some of the daisy chaining in the pictures. I do chains of about 1'.
  6. They are a big company and my batch's are small potatoes, but they like car guys. I did three batches on the FJ40 project, but if I had all the parts ready at one time it would have counted as one batch. You must bring them ready, cleaned and each part wire brushed for best results, and small parts wired (daisy chained) together and they yellow zinc plate them for me and then clear plate over the yellow zinc for a better finish. Ready...wait for it.....they do each batch for $75.00. It is so cool to pick up the parts they are like jewelry. The problem is you have to bring them in and pick them up. I live within 50 miles so no problem. Muncie is also where I went to college, (Ball State University), so kind of fun seeing my home of 4 years back in the 70's. This is the link to the Land Cruiser Club and the thread on my FJ40 Restoration. https://www.landcruiserclub.net/community/threads/new-member.140009/
  7. As I understand it Cadmium is a very expensive process and is reserved, for the most part, for aircraft parts. I believe that you are needing Zinc Plating. There is Black Zinc, Yellow Zinc, and Silver or Clear Zinc. I have all of my done at Mid-City Plating in Muncie, Indiana. I take the parts there ready for plating, (cleaned and wire brushed). Some parts from my FJ40 restoration project pictured.

Invoice for Tool Kit and pay pal information and I will pay. Thanks JLP
  9. Checked the fuel sending unit, and took the NOS fuel tank to a welder to have the return fuel line re-soldered. I believe the solder was melted when the tank was powder coated.

I have sent a PM. I am always interested in spare parts. re-webbing is very expensive if you have the material matched and new labels printed. I believe that I spent over $1,000. in few years back. I had Snake-Oil do mine. I believe they are out of Texas if I remember correctly. Link to the thread on the restoration.

I will take a look in the attic of my garage, project heaven! Tons of car parts.....
  14. As an art major back in the 70's I minored in photography. I will check to see if I have any extra development tanks. Mine are all stainless steel. I still have a Beseler 45 series motor drive enlarger, trays, easles etc... Or they seem to be available on ebay at a reasonable price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikor-Stainless-Steel-Film-Processing-Developing-Tank-with-120-reel-/162387521912?hash=item25cf0cf178:g:PT4AAOSwnHZYmifW
  15. Jim, I was not active on this site once I stated restoring my Land Cruiser. I am finished with that project and back on this site more regularly, I apologize for missing your question in 2014. If I can help your or your son in the future please do not hesitate

I posted this on the restoration of seat belts a while back. If you do not find a sleeve let me know and I will take a look at what I have. I purchased a number of sets to put together a set for my project.
  17. I will check to see if I have an early one. I believe that they were plastic from the start. JLP

The first is a picture of the 00029 car in the 70's racing at Indianapolis Raceway Park and the other is in the early 80's the 00029 car in IMSA set up. The engine is out in the second photo and the springs all the way up for trailering but you get the picture. I recently tried to buy the car back with no luck. Enjoy the photos. jlp
  19. I like the Toyo R888. I felt that it was my best option for my original 14" Libre wheels.
  20. As the black knight said "I've had worse!" If I were in the area I would pick it up for yard art!

Just pulled mine off tonight and for the most part I would call that area flat.

I am a little confused my self. I read on here that the "OIL" cap was the early cap and that the "Elephant" cap was later. My 70 HLS30 00029 car had an "Elephant" cap and a later 70 that I parted out had an "OIL" cap. So which was actually the early cap. I would have to think that he "Elephant" cap is earlier by my experience.
  23. I have a few of these hatch vent parts. Let me know if you need me to take a look for them. jlp

Finished disassembling the front end tonight. It has started to snow so I will not get it to the frame rack for awhile. In the mean time I will start gathering parts for the next phase of my 72's life as a Z. Still no luck with the calipers. Have been talking to Dave R. about a purist engine build. I will have to save for that! Looks basically the same under the cover. A car guy or gals worst nightmare is that when they die their spouse will sell their cars for what they told them they had in them.
