  1. As promised I took some new photos of the project bottle in better light. I also took one with the bottle in place.
  2. Honestly, In review of the photos and list of mods it has a fabulous power pack but the work looks to be less than impressive and superficial. The important details seem to be literally undercoated or painted over. Look closely at the photos. Not a 40K car it appears to be a half baked cake well iced. Just my opinion. jlp
  3. I am disappointed with the evening photos of the completed bottle. It looks much cleaner and better than the photos reflect.:ermm:I will take some photos tomorrow in better light and although not NOS you will be impressed with the results.
  4. Dan, you are correct Banzai Motorworks is selling reproductions for $195.00. That is where the reproduction label and new washer motor came from for my refresh project. I have one of his reproduction washer bottles as well. I have to say that it is nice to have the reproduction available, and I was one of the first to buy one, but I prefer the refreshed bottle. The reason being that with all the effort of an accurate reproduction the plastic in the reproduction is of a different appearance. It is less translucent and has a rough texture. In the spirit of full disclosure, I refreshed a bottle, I purchased a reproduction, and being on the quest for the best my car can be I have just purchased a NOS bottle and forked out the big bucks in the end. But the refresh or the reproduction are viable options. JLP
  5. I gathered my parts for assembly. I had already removed the old washer motor from the rubber housing and cleaned and dressed the black rubber housing. I then installed the new washer motor into the old rubber housing. The other parts were a new piece of clear 1/4" washer hose and a reproduction sticker. I assembled the bottle and although not NOS it did turn out very presentable and is a vast improvement on the 40 year old washer bottle. The finished bottle is not as yellow as it looks in the photos. I will try and get some better photos tomorrow in better light.
  6. I made a solution, as mentioned in a thread on this site. The solution is made up of hydrogen Peroxide, Oxi-clean, Glycerin and a little Xanthan Gum to make the solution sticky. After mixing the solution I put a cap on the bottom water outlet, and poured it into the bottle. I shook it around and poured it back out. I them brushed the solution onto the exterior of the bottle. The process is reportedly activated by UV light so I put the bottle in the sun. I reapplied the mixture to the exterior from time to time and left it in the sun all day. After cleaning the bottle I made a mixture of the same products with the exception of the xanthan gum and poured it into the bottle about an inch deep when laying on it's side. I put the bottle on it's side in the sun and rotated it every half hour for about 4 hours. Then Cleaned the bottle with soap and water.
  7. I first cleaned the bottle using a strong soap and bleach solution. My wife loves these projects in our bathroom sink! After a good cleaning I let it soak in the soap and bleach for a couple of hours.
  8. Can't justify $500.00 for a NOS washer bottle? I was reading post on the site on refreshing a washer bottle and decided to give it a try. First you have to start with a viable washer bottle.

Bruce, as you know the rarity of a NOS cable then you know that I let go of some serious cash. I have been paying for my project by selling my excess parts new and used. I will be selling the used sets that I have once I receive the NOS assembly. (two assembles)

Yes, and the reason they use in their video is that bicycle cables (braided or stranded) are not designed to push. JLP

My 72 Z would not run at idle last Friday. I limped it home and watched my Z Therapy video. It refreshed my stale memory on the SU's. I found a couple of problems::disappoin The choke tube was sticking, lubed the linkage and took care of that. Then I found that the choke cable had some issues.:ermm:I have a couple good used cables but while going to the work of changing them:disappoin I would rather install a new one. Anyone have any leads on a NOS choke cable assembly for a 7/72 production 72Z? Thanks JLP
  16. Dan, Thanks that is what I was looking for. JLP
  17. I feel lucky to have picked up a set about 18 months ago for $900.00.

If you shop around you can find a good driver needing very little work in the 15 - 20K range. You can have the enjoyment of working on the minor issues and the pleasure of driving it if you shop wisely. JLP

Dan, I sent our a NOS set with the car. I will assume that Les used what I sent. I will try your process and see how it works. The door is binding on the weather strip at about 1 inch from closed. Thanks for your advice Dan, I was getting very frustrated with the doors. I just took the car to a local cruise in;) and of course the Z was the only foreign car. I was amazed how the Z was accepted by the non-car owner people at the show. They liked the Z over all of the restored classic american cars and hot rods. I liked the turquoise Hudson myself:love:.
