Trailer Size?
I really appreciate all the suggestions / ideas. Makes me think???? To answer the question of tow vehicle I have a supercrew / superduty F250 Powerstroke Diesel. I like the idea of a low profile and I like the idea of being able to set up some sort of comfort space when at events. If I make a trailer change I believe that I will be trading 2 special purpose trailers for one. I currently have a 12X8 enclosed for my construction and the 18' open car trailer. This would eliminate the idea of the low profile due to my need for head space for easy access for my construction equipment/tools. A V-nose seems to be good for numerous reasons, aero as well as storage and maybe a place to permanently install a generator and compressor. Lots of considerations, keep those thoughts coming. Jerry

Trailer Size?
I am considering selling my open car trailer and buying an enclosed trailer for my 1972 Z. I don’t want a trailer larger than I need. I am considering the 8.5’ X 20’ V nose. Does anyone have experience with this size for the 240Z? Good fit? Other considerations? Thanks for your valued input. Jerry

Made a decision on tires today, going with the Toyo R888 205/55 R14. Thought about the Hoosier Speedsters but in talking with Hoosier tire they strongly discouraged me. Using the original Libre 14's limited my tire choices but after seeing the job Les did getting the AR Lirbres restored I know that I made the correct choice. I will be sending out the last of the additional parts for my project tomorrow. Les and I have discussed the pick up date and the possibility of some fun options to coincide with the pick up. More to come>>>>>

Shipped out three boxes of parts to Classic Datsun Motorsports yesterday, these are some of the final parts for final assembly of the restoration. I am getting really stoked for the trip to Vista to pick up the car. I sent out the following: NOS Console NOS Console fuse cover NOS Under hood fresh air ducts R&L Reproduction 240Z Stripe Kit NOS American Racing Wheel centers Original white sun visors NOS Heater control panel Rebuilt original AM FM Radio Still have a few parts to ship out including a reproduction glove box and I need to make final decision on tires. I am sure that the need for a few more miscellaneous parts will come up but I will find them as needed. Although I have a NOS leather Datsun shift knob I would like to find a NOS original wood shift knob.

Desperately Seeking Tires
Desperately seeking tires! I have decided to stick with the original 14†AR Libre wheels on my 72 restoration project. That being said there are a limited number of good tire options. I posted this on my ongoing forum post with very little response. Arne did give me some good options. Les has suggested the possibility of the Toyo DOT race tires which I like but I am a little worried that they will not fill the wheel wells thus looking a little odd. Any one used or seen these used on a stock suspension Z? Arne suggested that I take a look at the Hoosier Speedsters 205/65-14. They will fit the 5.5†rim width and they are close to the original overall height but I am not sure I like the look of the tire; any other suggestions out there? Anyone seen or used the Hoosier Speedsters? Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Jerry Purcell

Small world, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law bought their home from the ****mans and it is on the original ****man farm on Nolands Fork Road. The 00029 car is now stored in their barn. Like I said small world. Jerry

Arne, Thanks for the suggestion. I took a look at the Speedsters, vintage road race, 205/65's #46008. They will fit the 5.5" rims and are close to the origianl equipment at 24.1 total height. I passed the information on to Les for his thoughts. Anyone Used these tires? If so your experience? Thanks JLP

The assembly process starts next week. I am getting excited. We are going to pick out tires this weekend. Any suggestions? We have decided to stick with the 14"X5.5" AR Libres. They have been restored, I have attached photos. We also decided to stay with the stock ride height.

A car outcast needs some input from car guys.
First what a beautiful car! I would go with original silver personally. Now for that “racy†look the yellow with the green is a traditional British combo. “I want your car!†JLP

Found 1972 Survivor with 5,400 Miles?
Could you share the additional photos of the interior etc? I would love to have this car as a starting point for a restoration. The problem is 30k is not a reasonable starting point for the car even if it were a 4500 mile car. I have her number at this point I may give her a call. JLP

Found 1972 Survivor with 5,400 Miles?
I do not see what you see in the photo, it is showing an unreadable digit in the 10K window and 4558 in the readable windows. This is what the owner represents the car to have 4558 miles. I have told him that he would have to be able to prove the stated provenance of this car. I will consider his representation of this car honest at this point. In our last exchange of information he confirmed that the car has been stored covered and under a carport for its entire life. This explains the oxidation and surface rust in the engine area. I had conversation with Les Cannaday as well as Carl Beck about this car and we can all agree that it is not a $30,000 car. If all other information is correct and as I said it is not up to me to question this young man's honesty, this would be a great starting place for a beautiful example of a 1972 240Z. I am not buying the car, if I were, as I have clearly stated, he would have to provide proof of the cars history. I have attached a couple more photos Jason sent me of the car. I kindly explained that even with the low mileage this is not a $30,000 example and suggested that if he wants to establish a realistic value he should contact Carl Beck. JLP

Found 1972 Survivor with 5,400 Miles?
I agree, it is clear that the car has not been stored in a controlled environment. All of the bare metal parts in the engine compartment show signs of oxidation. But that can all be take care of but does hurt the over all value of the car even if the car is a 4500 mile car.

Found 1972 Survivor with 5,400 Miles?
I have attached some photos of the car. I am waiting for more information this evening. The car is located in Southern "inland" California. Has reportedly been in same family since new, like I said I am not representing this car in any way and as of now have no way of confirming the provenance of this car. Will update post after I talk with Jason. JLP

Found 1972 Survivor with 5,400 Miles?
In my recent quest for an early rust free shell for a possible project I am considering I came across a 1972 Survivor which reportedly has only 5,400 Miles. Completely rust free and original, VIN#HLS30-57877. It is for sale for $30,000.00. Contact: jasonwhitney78@gmail.com I have no association with this person and can not verify the information but if interested you can confirm the information. Like I said I ran across this car by accident and it does not fit what I am looking for. JLP

"1969 Production 240z" on craigslist
Update and clarification, I spoke with the young man who placed the ad again yesterday and he explained a misunderstanding in our previous conversation. He has two Z’s listed one, you can see in the background, is a “fully†restored 72 and the other is the one in this listing. He owns the 72 and that is the VIN he gave me. He listed the 70 for a friend who is “hard to get in touch withâ€. I am waiting to hear back for one or the other of them for the details on the 70 “shellâ€. I will update when I hear back. Jerry

VIN# HLS30-57877 Late 71 or early 72? Definitely not a "69 production". It still may work for my project but a long way away!
