I need some help on my brake system. I will start our with the history. The brakes were working fine. I sourced and installed a vented MK63 front brake upgrade. Upon completion I had a hard pedal and poor braking situation. I took off the brake booster and sent it out, it tested good. I put the original stock front brake /rotors and calipers. Still hard pedal. I have bleed the brakes repeatedly, today I started the car and felt for vacuum has vacuum in houses to the brake booster and holds vacuum after engine is turned off. Any suggestions? I am my end on this problem. Thanks for any help!
  3. Is this still available?

Does anyone have a set of original fog lights for 1972 Datsun 240Z also looking for original switch part # 25370-E8700.
  6. Never enough bits! Jim, you already knew that though!!?
  7. I originally wanted to cadmium plate my parts, but it is very expensive, due to the toxic properties. I was told that it is used almost exclusive on aircraft parts today. Definitely more corrosion resistant than the original zinc plating.
  8. Smalls are daisy chained together, with conductive wire, as to not loose any parts during the plating process.
  9. Have another batch in the tumbler getting them ready for wire brush. I will sort black, clear and yellow zinc once all parts are ready to go.
  10. I see some bits of interest!?
  11. Once again getti ng restoration parts ready for zinc plating. Sorting yellow, clear (silver), and black zinc parts for future projects. Every piece media blasted and hand wire brushed.

The original Aviaid pan is sheet metal not cast. I do like the cast pan. I am just a little sentimental to the original racing pan from the 70's.

This is not the pan, but close to the original that was on my L24. They have priced me a single pan for $500.00 with core. I do not know if we would get a better price if we have an order of 10 or more. I want to first see if there is interest. The pans finish will be zinc plating. I am going to have one made one way or the other.

The 29 car, when I bought it, had a Aviaid Racing 6qt baffled oil pan. It, of course, went with the car when sold. I recently contacted Aviaid to see if they still offered that pan. They do not have any but are willing to make up a batch. They require a downer pan. I have two extra stock pans. Is there any interest in a group buy? Let me know. Thanks

There were basically the screw on and the snap in the cent hole styles on the slotted mags if I remember correctly. Here are a set of screw on type. https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-VINTAGE-U-S-MAG-INDY-4-DOG-EAR-2-1-2-SPACING-WHEEL-RIM-CENTER-CAP-4-LUG-/191666801020

Yes, I had a 100 or so laser cut. I am waiting to make a zinc plating run to Muncie, then they will be ready.

Anyone in the LA Area (4500 block of Worth Street)? I am semi interested in a car in that area and wondered, not for anyone to go out of their way, if someone would be kind enough to inspect a 71 for sale.
  19. I pulled the Brake Booster and sent it out, it checked out OK. I put the stock front brake calipers and rotors on and bleed out the system and I still have a hard pedal and the front calipers are not releasing rear brakes are releasing. Experts out there? Master cylinder?

Have you sold the springs? Thanks jlp
  21. Interesting perspective, but it will be hard to stop the deterioration. Just the two photos sent to me show that the battery tray is half rusted away and the bottom of the doors are in need of attention. If this were a solid survivor I would agree with your take on original paint survivors. I believe that it would be fair to equate the two photos to the common rust problems with the Z and assume those areas are in need of attention as well.
  22. I requested more pics and received them. I have no reason to believe that this is not the original paint. A survivor such as this is semi-rare, but the truth of the matter is it will need to be restored and restoration is very expensive. With the current price of restored examples it would be hard to justify paying the 20K with the cost of a full restoration being added to the investment. Members seem to be shocked with some of the prices, but as I have stated in the past until the restored examples of Series 1 and Series 2 cars are bring substantially more it is impossible to pay 20K for a survivor needing a complete restoration. Just my opinion and I am sure there will be many more to follow this post.

I have one if the others do not work out.
  25. Took the Z back apart last year to re-align the body panels. Finished putting the front sheet metal, lights, bumper, and original BRE front spook on today. Installed nutserts in the valance this time for ease of trailering, also installed the JDM grill I picked up on Yahoo Japan recently. I had to modify the mounting points, but overall it was an easy upgrade.
