Any Member in the RENO area?
Rob, I will contact the owner and get an address where the vehicle can be seen. It is rough but looks to be solid and most of the parts are there. It does not run but does turn over. The current owner obtained it at a storage auction. He is currently in the hospital but said the vehicle was accessible. I don't want to inconvenience you so if the location is too far from you don't hesitate to beg off. Thanks JLP

Any Member in the RENO area?
I have may hat in my hand! I am looking at a Datsun Patrol in the RENO area. Is there any member in the area willing to take a look at a vehicle for me? I just want someone to put eyes on to make sure I am not being scammed :pirate:before I send out the cash. If you can please PM me. Thanks Jerry Purcell

Datsun Patrol?
Les did not indicate that he had any parts. He said that he had a customer whom has seven (7) Datsun Patrols. And to Montezuma's thoughts: We would not be worried about an accurate restoration. It would be a frame off total rebuild but lights etc… would be updated. We just thought it would be cool to have at our lake house to run up and down the hill to the lake and put the toys in the water. I'm just a little hesitant, the Z is to be finished first of December (to be picked up in Vista), I have a Miata to sell, I am considering upgrading my Superduty Diesel, (taking off the CAT and installing a new engine computer control system), in the process of remodel of my home in Tennessee, etc... just a real busy time right now. Datsun Patrol?
Yes, It is one and the same. My son did not find it in time to see if he could arrange transport so he did not bid on it. The winning bidder did not follow through so it has been offered to my son. JLP

Datsun Patrol?
I did contact Les, his advice "stay away":finger: unless you find one which needs nothing! He said that parts are near impossible. But my son is still interested. jlp

Datsun Patrol?
Keith, These are photos of the one he has been looking at. It is rough but for the most part solid and most everything is there. I see that you own one, what do you think about this as a project? Thanks for your opinion!

Adam Corrolla's "Ther Car Show".....hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!?
As “Datsun Guysâ€, we need to support Adam and his new show. His love of Datsun’s and their racing history is great for our passion “DATSUNSâ€. So let us not be overly critical but supportive of his efforts and remember he did not get where he is by luck or accident. I am confident he will find the correct formula to make his new show a success given the time to work out the wrinkles. Watch, laugh, learn and most importantly support his work as he supports our passion. Break a leg Adam!

My son is interested in buying a 60's Datsun Patrol. Anyone have any insight? What to look for, what to avoid. Experience with this vehicle? Thanks JLP

Oiluj, Great question! I am starting to wonder why I didn’t finish it myself. It all started when Les contacted me about my 70 Z (000029). I sent him so photos and he noticed my 72 in the back of my garage. When I explained that I was the original owner and had parked it in 1976 and worked to restore it on and off for 30 years he offered to make me a deal I could not refuse. I sometimes wish I had finished it myself but I could never seem to find the time. In the deal he gets 00029 and I actually will hate to see it go.

If you get by to see the car let me know what you think of the work. I was originally going to do a pre-paint inspection; it was scheduled for the middle of last December (2010). Now that it is ready for paint I was not able to get out for an inspection. I would deeply appreciate your eyes on opinion. I am thinking of trying to get out after paint and prior to assembly for an inspection.

My current plan is to be there for pick up of the car the first week of December (2011). That will mark 5 years, how time flies.

September, not July next year? That might be a possibility, we spend July in Tennessee each year which we would hate to give up. But a trip to Phoenix in September that works. My boys and I are planning a rim to rim Grand Canyon hike next year we might be able to work that in that time frame. Jerry

Finally some color! I just received these photos of the project this morning. I am glad to finally see some form of progress. The wheel wells are, if done as agreed, primed, painted to color, flexible-paintable undercoat, and then painted again. It is what is planned for the complete underside of the car. What do you think?
