Harness hold downs
In the past I was able to cut them out of pliable sheet metal and dip the ends in the rubber tool coating then spot weld them in place prior to paint. Looks as factory. jlp

Stilko External Oil Filter with Toilet Paper Replacement
Did a touch of research, the TP oil filter is not to replace your high flow filter but is used to supplement the filter system. It uses a by-pass system as explained in the attached article: "The diverted flow is quite small, and poses no risk to overall lube flow and pressure. A stock oil filter is typically adequate in filtering down in the 10-20 micron range - but a bypass filter like the Frantz pictured above will take out stuff down in the SUB-micron range! Why is that significant? Because wear particles larger than 2-3 microns are capable of bridging the usual layer thickness of oil film in rings and bearings, and causing accelerated engine wear - and obviously, the stock filters are pretty useless down at those particle sizes." This make some sense to me and I now understand why the TP doesn't blow or fall apart. JLP

Stilko External Oil Filter with Toilet Paper Replacement
I don't believe it could actually filter the oil through the roll of toilet paper. JLP

Anyone know where this wire goes
I just brought up a wiring diagram and it looks like a wire labeled as to "stopper motor". What’s a stopper motor? But in looking at your photos it looks as if someone has bypassed some harness wires for some reason. The red, blue, and yellow wires they do not look factory. I know little about 74's but those wires look to have been post factory. Could someone have bypassed the yellow wire in question? Also in the diagram it shows an unused wire in that general area but give no further explanation or color. You might want to find a better factory wiring diagram, the one I found is not complete. jlp

Should I worry?
Ditto As you have already been advised, the worst case at this point is a warped head. If that is the case your temps will not stay down, your oil will become milky (water) and possibly oil in your cooling system. That would require milling your head and installing a new head gasket. jlp

240Z chrome taillamp strips
Holding on! A new pair just sold on ebay. Two separate auctions, right sides are still available but it is rare to find a NOS left, and yes I know why the lefts are all gone. I was going to bid on them but I could not get conformation from one of the sellers on the markings on the lens. Collectively they sold for just over $700.00:ermm: I would purchase a set of new for my 72 but I would still want to finish the restoration of the sets I have. I have 3 or 4 sets of near perfect lenses, reflectors and backs needing either refinished strips or replacement strips. When the reproduction taillights are available do you think it will be possible to purchase the strips and rubber plugs separately?:nervous:

Fork oil in SU dashpots?
I removed all the oil from mine and kept a light spray, silicone or the like, on them. It resulted in a quick response. JLP

240Z chrome taillamp strips
The biggest problem with restoration parts is willingness of the needy parties to pay what a part is worth. With a limited market proper custom made reproduction parts are going to be pricy. I was quite surprised at the poll results. I don't know how one could expect a proper reproduction part to sell for so little. That is why the parts are not reproduced. JLP

Keith, If the part is indistinguishable from the original I would still possibly be interested. jlp

Bin Laden’s Widow Embarrassed House was Such a Mess
Not just in the country, in the middle of a city occupied by a military academy and the home of a large number of retired military personnel. I believe I heard a number of somewhere around 200,000 military personnel in the general area. Great place to hide! jlp

Bin Laden’s Widow Embarrassed House was Such a Mess
Steve, I probably would have been better off to have not tried to be the peace maker or bridge. We older fellas have a tendency to do that. That being said, I personally found nothing inappropriate in your funny bone post. In fact I found it humerus and shared it with some of my family and friends. JLP

Bin Laden’s Widow Embarrassed House was Such a Mess
Whamo, I hope you don't interpret my comment as a negative comment on your joke. It was just a comment on the fact that some people need time to absorb events and then put them into perspective prior to laughing at them. AS for the mourning of Bin Laden, I lost hundreds of brother firefighters on 9-11. In 2001 I had the privilege of chairing and hosting the International Firefighters Golf Tournament. The dates were Sept. 10th, 11th, 12th of 2001. I had the task of going to the courses on the 11th and telling the teams of the mornings events and making arrangements for the east coat members to get back home to help. I am not mourning his death! JLP

1970 240Z carpet kit
I have a NOS set, (with 72 at Classic Datsun Motorsports), but the mats behind your seats do not look right. They do not go under the seats but should go up to the bulkhead behind the seats. But I am comparing them to the Series II, the difference could be the tool box locations. JLP

I will roll under it next time I go visit it at the storage facility. When I purchased it, 29, it had the typical rear mounted bar, if I remember correctly. jlp

Stilko External Oil Filter with Toilet Paper Replacement
Has anyone used one of these? It seems, by the nature of toilet tissue, that it would break down and clog up every passage in your engine. jlp

This may be a case of "TOO SOON". At the fire station when a situation arrises the jokes that follow are sometimes labeled as "Too Soon". Simply put for some it may be too soon to joke about this. jlp

Way cool find! Looking at the rear suspension it looks as if the sway bar is mounted on the front side of the rear suspension. I have not seen that before. jlp
