I know we have discussed this before, but I could not find the thread with multiple searches. I was looking for original brand and pictures of original battery from the early 70's. Thanks JLP

Added to my obsession this week. I was able to find and purchase the following for my hoard. A JDM grill from Japan, an original used electric fuel pump bracket part # 17033-4200, NOS original electric fuel pump, and a NOS bullet tip antenna mast.
  5. Received the bracket today. Bent, no rust, easily straightened, but the first thing I did was drop it off at a custom rubber stamp vendor to have a stamp made to replicate the part number on the bottom of the bracket. Once that is complete I will straighten, sand blast, powder coat, and stamp the part number back on it. It will then be ready for the NOS pump. Will post more once project moves along.
  6. The Village Green is paint code. PPG44664 http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?ditzler=44664&con=4&page=1&rows=50&size=large
  7. Most profession paint vendors have paint mixing and matching capability. If you have a paint code most body shops have the capability of mixing the paint.
  8. Looks close to a Subaru "Village Green".

I guess when you have owned the car for 46 years the term "period" is relative. The first four years of ownership when I was auto-crossing and bolting on performance parts such as 44mm Mikunis, headers, etc...taking the car to hill climbs. That is the period that I am interested in.

Picked out the material today, the original shop is going ahead and cutting these out with a laser cutter. Will post when completed. I believe the minimum order was 50 so I should have plenty of shims!
  11. Picked up the used bracket and a NOS fuel pump. Another project!
  12. I know that the car was pre-wired for the fuel pump, but I was not aware that the bracket was part of the preparation package. I will have to have someone else weigh in on this one. I am also wondering if I can run both my mechanical and an electric fuel pump. I know you could blank out the mechanical, but I want the original pump to stay in the system for appearance.

I am going to take the one I have to our High School machine shop Tech class. They have a plasma cutter and are always looking for projects. The metal may be too thin for that process, I don't know. I will let you know if that does not work our.
  14. Exactly what I was looking for. The bracket attaches to the cross member just in front of the fuel tank. Thanks
  15. Anyone with photos of the bracket?

These shims are specific to the three bolt pattern of the hinges. There were one or two in the top hinge and sometimes in the lower hinge as well. I currently have body shop shims in place, but that is not correct.
  17. I took a look under the car today and do not see any obvious mounting points. I did see two holes in the cross bar just forward of the tank and in prefect location for the pre-wiring that is in the harness.

I have one which has been with a fabricator for months. He says that he cannot find the correct material to cut them out of. I ordered 50 of them and then planned to have then zinc plated, but I am now on plan "B".
  19. I am thinking about sourcing and installing an electric fuel pump. I had one on my car at one point but it was lost in the restoration. I believe that I have found an original pumb but cannot find a bracket. Does anyone have photos of the original upgrade kit or the bracket?

I am looking for door hinge spacers. Thanks in advance for you help with this.
  21. I have sync my carburetors and still have a stumbling problem. I am beginning the process of completely setting up the balance and fuel mixture. I first will set the needles and the float levels. Then the mixture. I have purchased a couple of items to help with the process. The "Float Sync" setup and I have a color tune tool on order. I removed the air cleaner today and installed the "Float Sync" tubes. I have attached photos of what I have discovered.about my float levels. The "Foat Sync" instruction indicate that the optimum fuel level is 14mm above the base of the "Float Sync" tool. See photos. The front carburetor looks to be much lower than the rear and the rear is just a bit shy of 14mm. I will attempt to adjust and post more photos. I hope this works and that it will help others work through the process as I am doing.

I see that, It will be interesting to see the actual grill once it gets here. It is an original, I will not know true condition until I have it in my hands. I hope it meets my expectations. I want to use it on my 72 to go with the other period correct modifications. Sport mirrors, Datsun Comp front spoiler, AR Libre wheels, MK63 brakes with vented rotors, and the factory accessory side stripes. With the exception of the MK63 upgrade this is how I purchased the car new. The grill will finish out the look. I have all of the original parts restored or NOS put away if the next owner wants to go back to stock.

I made my first Yahoo Japan purchase today. I picked up (yet to get it obviously) a JDM Grill. It will need to be restored but overall in great condition. I have been wanting to pick one up for some time. I will post more once it arrives. http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/u182914369

I happen to have a pair I might part with. I will have to look but I believe they are early take offs or NOS.
