broken hood release cable, this looks like trouble
We, (fire department), carry a rod with a t-handle on the end the rod has a cut down the middle, approximately 1”, on the business end. We, when a cable has melted or is otherwise not working find a way into the cable according to where the cable and or latch is located put the cut over the cable and start turning as the cable tightens it releases the latch. jlp

Rubber piece on top of radiator core support
The metal piece is shaped as a reverse of the underside of the hood and the rubber strip slips on the metal and seals to the underside of the hood. I have the metal will have to look to see if I have the rubber. I am sure that the rubber seal is a standard piece that can be cut to length. jlp

'78 280Z replacement seat foam
Foam is relatively simple to replace, remove seat, take back off, there is a cord sewn into the bottom edge of the seat cover. The metal frame has metal prongs which go through the seat cover and over the cord. Bend the prongs up and remove the cover and you are ready to replace the foam. I don't think factory foam is but there is reproduction foam available. I know that Classic Datsun Motorsports in Vista, CA offers it. jlp

Brand new to Z's need a little guidance
The ID tags are located on the "B" post of the drivers door (left) and on the (right) shock tower in the engine compartment and there is a Vin tag on the left side of the dash visible through the windshield. The Vin can also be found etched into the firewall by the brake booster. The tags will give you the build date, VIN, and Engine number. The engine number is also on the left side of the engine block just below the head. The original color will be indicated on the radiator support it is a 3 digit number on a small sticker. You will find that there is a wealth of collective information on this site specific to your project. Good luck and keep us posted. We like photos!

Question
Your compressed beams see a set of elongated beams approaching, you realize that you are passing yourself as you are being drawn back to the vacuum left behind from your leaving your original space-time continuum. Then you realize that you can never go back!
