  1. Wished it wasn't over 2,000 miles away and that It hadn't been 4 1/2 years since I've seen it. jlp I want to drive it again! I haven't driven it for 35 years!
  2. Frank, Z Therapy has a DVD that you probably need to get. From what I understand it is the answer to fully setting up your SU's start to finish. One of our members Bruce Palmer:bulb: is an expert on the subject. Bruce if you could jump in I have talked by phone with these folks and he needs our help. Thanks JLP
  3. Post photos and progress we love to follow along. JLP

  5. I believe with today’s new glues that you might be able to just glue it in place. If not I think I would try removing the old string rounding out the interior, glue the new string in place then drill a small hole through the shaft and string, glue a small rod through the hole and then when the glue dries file off the rod even with the outside diameter of the shaft. That would definitely hold over time and use. jlp
  6. Arne, As my memory serves me your are correct. The end of the nylon string was attached by a "mini" clip. The mast replacement was easy but it did require that you open remove the interior panel and the reel cover to remove the pin. I have never heard of anyone being able to just replace the nylon string. jlp

DITTO, I have explained to the owner the location of the VIN on the firewall and requested that he post it for those who might be interested. He did reply but still has not posted the VIN.
  11. Not something I would do but if one were to want to run a support it would not pose a clearance problem if it were ran centerline front to back. JLP
  12. Do you know anyone skilled with a gas welder. My old racing buddy, George could take the cutting tip on his gas welder and blow out broken bolts without damaging the threads. No Joke!

I would say that they are expecting a lot more. The reserve has not been met and it requires a post auction $600. deposit. jlp
  16. In this thread I put the wrong part numbers they are actually: Part #'s 56205-E4125 & 56105-N3785 That explains the 56205 and the 56105. But these do not have the same E4125 second half of the part number they are E4125 and N3785. They are wet and ready to install. I know that when you use inserts you need to put a measured amount of oil in the strut tube first to dissipate the heat to the outside strut wall. This tread was started as a result of not wanting to hijack the Bilstein thread. In that original post on this subject the correct part numbers were listed. jlp

  19. "Originally Posted by Zedrally The original struts didn't have "inserts". The FSM gives instructions on rebuilding them, but to my knowledge no one ever did, rather replacing them with after market inserts. NOS Factory Shock inserts, Part numbers 56205-E4125 & 56205-N3785.

Went to the body shop to see how the repairs on my F250 were going, (Woman hit me in the left rear the other day. She said that she didn’t see me. Superduty F250, Super Crew Diesel. Didn’t see me?:tapemouth), and had an interesting discussion with the body man. He was talking about towing his drag car and when I inquired further he explained that he had a 69 Z28 Camaro and his friend had a Datsun 240Z that they took to the strip on the weekends. I inquired further about the 240Z, he said it had a big block in it pushing 1200HP. Now I’m not into such things but that’s a lot of HP for a Z. He said that it was a 7second car. WOW! He asked me to find him a vendor for fiberglass hoods. It’s a small world!
  25. If you want the original look I would have it soda blasted, (gives a natural smooth finish without the polished look), and maintenance is as simple as going over it with a coat of wax now and again. On my 70 I had it soda blasted and then used wrinkle black between the two top ridges and then cleaned the lettering off to highlight the Nissan 2400. That was also a good look. jlp
