Hey Zedyone, Check your PM, I sent you a reply to think over.

VTO Le Mans Wheel.. anybody try these yet?
Yes, one wheel is no problem. I just shipped one 15x6 +3 Retro 4 to a gentleman in Texas to test fit on his '65 Mustang 6 cylinder. I'm sure once you see a LeMans first hand you will order the rest of the set.

VTO Le Mans Wheel.. anybody try these yet?
Let me see if I can answer a few questions here. The LeMans wheels on Adam Corrolla's Roadster are 15x7 +18 offset. VTO uses the same "blank" for all wheels of the same rim size and width. The offset is adjusted by machining the hub mounting (inside) surface of the wheel. The face of a 15x7 +0 will look the same as a 15x7 +18. The only noticable difference between the different offset wheels will be the +18 lugnuts are recessed less into the lug bores. As for durability, I use the VTO Retro 4 13x7 +0 wheels on my Datsun 1200 racecar with no issues. The wheels are factory tested and comply with DOT, JWL and VIA standards. These wheels are low pressure injection molded for added strength and durability, not gravity cast like the original LeMans and Libre wheels were. All VTO wheels are sold with center caps, lug nuts and valve stems included. The 15x7 LeMans wheels are sold for $180/each plus S&H online at www.FutoFab.com FutoFab as an authorized dealer of VTO Wheels can drop ship any order directly from VTO's warehouse, saving time and money on delivery.

VTO Le Mans Wheel.. anybody try these yet?
They come in 15x6 +3 and +24 offsets and 15x7 +0 & +18 offsets. The 15x7 +0 would fit great on the Z. I wish I had pictures on a Z, but these wheels only became available mid August.

Wheels & tires for 77 280Z
In general 15x7 or 16x7" rims at +0 offset work well. Section widths in the range of 205 to 225 are popular. Section width and profile ratio (as well as diameter rim) will determine the tire OD. Places like Tirerack list tire specifications on many popular tires. They are a good tool to determine what size changes do to OD and width. Most Z car wheels sold today are the typical 8 spoke deign. VTO is one of the few that offer throwback designs cued on the American Racing Libre and LeMans 4 spoke designs. These are available in a 15x7 +0 offset, but not in a 16" wheel.

Anyone see a difference in these Master Cylinders?
One thing that came up in a discussion with Datsun 510 owners doing MC swaps was the type of braking system. The Z's like the 510's have drum rear brakes. The ZX is disc all the way around. It appears that all Datsun MC have residual pressure valves built into the bottom of the master. They are captivated by the big hex nut at the brake line connection. The MC for cars with drum rears have a higher residual pressure setting, 10psi +/- on that circuit when compared to a disc brake (front or rear) at a residual pressure of around 2 psi. There wasn't any noted problems using the all disc brake ZX MC with rear drums but there were a few with issues with using the Z MC with disc rear brakes. Some reported that the higher residual pressure in the rear circuit caused the rear disc brakess to drag. In some cases hard enough that the brakes over heated and expanded to the point that they all but locked up. I guess what I am saying is if you are changing out your MC make sure the new master matches the rear drum or disc brake system that is in the car. And if not you may need to change out the residual pressure valve on the rear circuit for the right pressure setting, they can be sourced by buying a rebuild kit for the correct MC.

Wheel Spacer Help!
Motorsport Technology has spacer/adapters where the spacer bolts to the hub and the wheel to the spacer. Running longer studs and 30-35mm of spacer would be asking for trouble. If you give them the hub OD and wheel ID they will custom make them both hub and wheel centric. I have a set on the front of my Datsun 1200 racecar. http://www.motorsport-tech.com/

Latest wheel selections and personal reviews, which one is your favourite?
Here are actual VTO Retro 4's in 14x5.5 on a 510. Sorry about the sad shape of the 510, that is what many years of SCCA improved touring does to a car.

New Front Control Arms
Yes, these are FutoFab parts. The design is quite similar to those we already sell for 510's. The set John (gnosez) has are our first run for the Z car. I had hoped he would be back to comment, but his road trip seems to have had some unexpected delays. More pictures are available on our web site as well as online ordering for buyers. Link: FutoFab Adjustable LCA's & TC Rods This is our package offer shown below: LCA's & TC Rods for $465. Rod end dust boots are offered at $15/pair additional.

Retro 4 (Libres) & Classic 8's Now in 15x7
Al, I do not have good weights at this tiime. What I have on feedback is the 15x6 +24 Classic 8 is 14# and the 15x7 +12 Retro 4 is 16#. These are not the lightest wheels, but they are in the same range as the Panasport Ultralights I have. When I get official numbers I will post them.

Retro 4 (Libres) & Classic 8's Now in 15x7
You are correct, currently the Retro 4 15x7 +0 offset is only available in black. As wheels are re-ordered if silver is popular (which it certainly seems to be) I'm sure the 15x7 +0 will come in silver as well and maybe by next November.

Retro 4 (Libres) & Classic 8's Now in 15x7
Let me comment on rim width with regard to tire section width. Always use the manufacturer's recommended rim widths for the particular tire and size you are using. If you cannot find recommended rim widths listed (Tire Rack seems to have them), I go to a fallback that I learned years ago during a BFG/D!ck Turner autocross seminar. No wider rim width than 90% of tire section width. So a 205/60-15 is 7.3" (15x7) and a 195/60-15 is 6.9" (15x6) maximum for VTO wheels.

Retro 4 (Libres) & Classic 8's Now in 15x7
Goose52, The sizes for future VTO wheels aren't stopping at 15x7". By Late Summer 2011, Classic 8's will be coming in 15x8 (-4 offset, 4.3" B/S), 16x7 (+12 offset, 4.5" B/S) & 16x8 (+ 3 offset, 4.6" B/S). Unfortunately, current plans for the Retro 4 sizes are being limited to 15x7 as the biggest. And Bruce, thank you for the kind words. Yes I am an enthusiast, owning and competing in Datsuns since 1984. I currently have a Datsun 1200 that I race with SCCA in GTL and a '71 510 that will be going thru a complete restoration this winter to Vintage race as a TransAm 2.5 Challenge car in 2011. I thank you for the welcome and please keep an eye on our website for more Z Car products beyond our BRE style Spook air dam and rod end equipped alternator adjusters we currently offer.

Datsun Enthusiast in NH
Hello, My name is Dave Patten. I am what most would call a rabid Datsun enthusiast. I own several Datsun 510's and race a Datsun 1200 coupe. I have owned a couple 240Z's in the past and truly enjoyed driving those cars on the street. I also operate a small on-line business called FutoFab. We are primarily a source for Datsun 510 composite body panels, but we do have a 240Z BRE style spook spoiler in our offerings. FutoFab has been approached to expand its line of products to include more Z car parts. I have joined Classic Z to help better inform myself of the needs of the Z community and to help out where I can. Thank you, Dave Patten Dunbarton, NH www.FutoFab.com
