Check out the Mallory pumps, they are a gear type pump and generate the least amount of noise.

I'm thinking you meant -27mm offset....a +27mm (1.063") offset would move the wheel out. Tom

Fun, fun, fun..............nice pics Victor! I'm sure we would have noticed each other if we had crossed paths. Was a super nice day for an outing in the old Datsuns. Tom

I'm always open for getting together with other Z'ers for an outing! It's as simple as a PM (private message) to get things rolling. Tom

Juan, It is unlikely the screw will plug the fuel outlet line....however, stanger things have happened! The odd are, if you had to replace the filler neck, all the vent hoses on the tank likely need replacing as well. What this means is, it is best to remove the fuel tank from the car. At that time you should also inspect the tank for rust and address that as well. Rusty fuel tanks are common in these old Z's.

Tom, You are on the right track......be advised that the four fasteners attaching the driveshaft to the differential can be a pain so, a day before you tackle this project spray these fasteners with a penetrating oil of some sort and let them soak. However, after you do get them taken off, the driveshaft will need to be removed by pulling it away from the tranny.....you will have some tranny oil run out the end of the tranny. I believe there is a wiper and a seal behind it. Remove both....they may become damaged so get new ones. Install the new seal and wiper, re-install the driveshaft, and don't forget to check the tranny oil level. It's a pretty simple job. Tom
  7. Welcome aboard Tilman and welcome to the world of Z. Hope you find a Z soon! I've been to Germany a couple of times over the last couple of decades and would love to be able to drive my 240 on your wonderful roads.....I'm jealous! My first visit to Germany was to Hamburg......hmmmmmmm, the Reaperbon (likely misspelled). My second visit was to Miesau, doing work at an ordinance center not to far from Ramstien Air Force Base. Anyway, happy hunting! Tom

Eric, Fist off there is a ton-O-info in the archives on headers....check it out! But basiclly, the 3-2-1 header works a bit better on the bottom to mid and the 6-1 header on the mid to top. However, with a stock motor you are not likely going to notice much improvement over the stock manifold. On the other hand exhaust tone will improve. Tom

Just wanted to share my Saturday drive with you all, as it was soooooo enjoyable. Heading out of Ventura and around Lake Casitas, starts the drive with some nice twisty back roads. North of the lake wanders around until nearing Carpenteria (I'm now on hwy 192) and head toward and though Santa Barbara. This section of 192 goes though the gettos (just kidding) of Santa Barbara with many many curves but, since there are also many homes driving is very relaxed and slow. Leaving Santa Barabara I head up San Marcos Pass (hwy 154) and over the hill and head toward Slovang. So far the day has been super nice with not too much traffic. Ahhhh, the smells of tasty pastery while cruising through Solvang....kinda makes you want to stop and munch. Now I head toward the coast and Lompoc where there is the sweetest section of PCH......nothing but big sweeping curves with about zero traffic for about 15 miles before joining up with hwy 101. I decide to take 101 south and just cruise and enjoy the sights and sounds (especially the sounds of the old Z). I think to myself, life is grand!!! Anyway, nearing Santa Barbara again, traffic begins to slow and for a few miles it's slow going. At first chance I get off the fwy and head back to 192 and the twisties. With little to no traffic again I enjoy the ability of the old Z and how it eats up the corners. Coming back down around Lake Casitas, I eventually hit hwy 33 and back toward Ventura and then home to Santa Paula on fwy 126. All and all the little trip was soooooooo nice and of course the Z ran perfectly. This drive is approximately 160 miles and makes for a great weekend drive. Just wanted to share a day of fun driving with you all. By the way, it would have been much more fun with a group of Z's! Tom

I don't know what it should feel like but, I can tell you what it does feel like......like maybe a ticket at any given point during a drive!!! Tom

It is possible that the charging system is over charging the battery, hence boiling out the electrolite. Once the electrolite is gone the battery is doomed. Just a thought! Tom

  15. All that you guys have said is sooooooooooo true so, it would be hard to add anything else! Ain't nothing like you, the Z, and miles of twisty roads. Gawd, I love these old Zs!!!! Tom
  16. Yeah, it's an interesting mod on the front but, I gotta say the guy (or maybe a gal) is pretty brave to be parking where they did.......can you say door dings??? Tom

I believe he has a 240 so, EScanlon would be correct....it's located at the front of the fuel tank and is pretty simple to replace without lowering the tank. Just be sure, when installing the new unit, you get a good seal between the tank and the mounting plate! Tom
  18. This is a SWAG but, it's most likely 2" to 3" shorter than the rear end is wide. Tom
  19. Good question!!! You have me curious now. I'm sure one of the history gurus like enlighten us. Tom
  20. Took the words right out of my mouth Carl....I'll second that thought regarding it being fiber glass and easily modified. Tom

It's a nice feature and some will like it and some won't but I quess knowone is obligated to use it....you know, that free will thing! I like the added versitility of it but I decline from giving too many specifics, considering it's access is available to the entire planet. Tom
  22. Looks like the one eyed, one horned , flying purple people eater. Hey, somebody loves it!!!!
  23. Are you refering to the front or rear spoiler? I have both on my 1970 and there are no flat surfaces I can think of. Tom

Well, Mother's Day I had just finished up a MTB ride and was pulling out onto the Pacific Coast HWY just south of MUGU rock. Anyway, as I'm watching traffic go by so I can merge, I see this very low silver convertible approaching and of course I'm wondering what the heck it could be......WOW, it's a Porsche GT live and inperson!!! Oh, the sounds were heavenly and as one might imagine quickly disappeared out of sight. Man, what an absolutely awsome looking machine....shoot, I'd even trade my 240Z for it......like anyone would take me up on that offer! Anyway, it was very cool to see this car in person, however briefly! Just thought I'd share my Oh wow with you all! Tom

When in doubt or need to drain it quickly, just remove the lower radiator hose.
