  1. One thing you might want to check, especially after a direct short as you described, is your fusible links. Check the repair manual for their location. It is likely that they are fried!!! Just a little food for thought!

I prefer to drive with combat boots on! Makes the heel/toe thing a real challenge! I'm just kidding!!! I have thought about some inexpensive driving shoes (under $150.00) as they look quit comfortable and I'm quessing they provide better pedal control.
  5. As Stephen said, the N47 works just fine with carbs....mine is internally stock and runs like butter. I used the intakes/SU's from an early Z. Regarding the 79 5spd trans...I remember reading some time ago that this was kind of an oddball tranny (hence it was used for only one year). I would think it would be OK as long as you didn't want to put big HP in front of it. Anyone care to add to this?

Well, I knew my memory was shot......I kind of figured I was wrong, but it drummed up some replys, as I could not open up the attachment. Thanks guys for being kind!!!
  7. I think the guy is dreaming, if the reserve is $19K. Time will tell what the market will bear! I'd give him $5K for it right now!!!

Man, my memory is not as bad as I thought......the "G" signifies RH drive for an S30!!?

deadflo, before you install the new belt, take a piece of 400 to 600 grit sandpaper to the belt wear surfaces on the pullies and knock off the shinny glaze. This will assist in a quiet running belt.

Welcome aboard.............lesson #1 - Learn to use the search function. lesson #2 - When asking technical questions, provide as many details as possible about your Z. lesson #3 - Only use profanities when sending PM's, not on regular post. Do these things and replies will come. And yes, a L28et will bolt right up to your stock 280Z 2+2....check out HYBRIDZ for V8 conversions

If you want the most happening studs, call up ARP fasteners and tell them the size and quantity you need. They are very helpful folks and truely support the motorsport industry. Their studs are a high grade SS and they have an allen socket drive on one end for easy install. Another good tip for reliability on the gasket.....be sure to check the torque on the stud nuts every once and a while...especially right after the first couple of engine heat cycles.

After doing some homework on plug wires, I chose the Magnacore KV85 wires. As Blakes says about his wires.....nary a problem! They look great and clean-up well too!

FYI, The Sparco (GRIP) pedals I purchased were about $65.00 (US). Check out their website.

Is it possible that your V-belt is just worn out. When V-belts are old and worn they have a tendonecy to squeak and or squeal. Also, if the alignment between pullies is off, it will speed up the process of wearing out a V-belt. Just some food for thought!

What a beautiful motor..........if done correctly (as installed in an early Z with the proper chassis mods) I believe it would be one impressive Z. For people with doubts....remember the 427 Cobra! Like one of the TV guys always says..."Does anyone need a car like that......no, but would you like to own a car like that.....absolutely!!! Can you imagine the rush you would get?

Sweet looking units, for sure. I happened to purchase a set from Sparco that are very similar. Anyway, great find Seerex!

    What you said Carl......excellent answers!
  22. If money is your limiting factor, drop in a remanufactured L28 (probably around $2K). You can use all the accessories items from your current engine, including induction, exhaust, and trans. Doing anything else will up the $$$ amount. Also, if you decide to stuff a V8 into your Z, it's a good idea to do the chassis improvements necessary to handle the additional torque. If you are so inclined to do the V8 thing, you may wish to visit the HYBRIDZ site.

Vic, that's really funny! Here's one...."Never get into an arrgument with an idiot, cause they'll bring you down to their level and then whip you with experience". This one has a bleeper in it. (used on people who just won't shut up) "Speak where I f_ _ked you last....and if you liked it, don't say anything"!!!
