Raz, Welcome to the site! Try using our search function, it has loads of info worth reviewing......and, an answer regarding your question. As one might imagine , this is a pretty common question. Happy hunting! Tom
  2. Jonathan, I think you need a bit more information on your situation before you can expect anyone to respond to your question. Also, we have a search function that is quite good at retreaving archived information! Tom
  3. Boy have you conjured up some old memories.......I know exactly what you are talking about!!! I've done mine a couple of times and for sure it is a real pain in the ( )! If only I was 36" tall with itty bitty hands....! Tom

Best regards to all, One additional note worth mentioning regarding ignition key/cylinder. Many people have a bundle of keys on their key ring and when you have all that additional weight cantilevered off the end of your ignition key (while it's in the cylinder and driving) you accelorate the wear on the cylinder and internal parts. So, to insure long life with your ignition lock, remove your ignition key from your key ring to eliminate the load caused by the additional weight. Tom
  5. With all due respect......If you can't figure it out by just looking at the engine assembly, don't attempt it on your own!!!! Get someone with mechanical skills to help you. Tom
  6. Jon, The being stuck behind a big arse truck, or any vehicle for that matter, seems to always be the case.....hmmmmmmm, wonder why that happens so often??? Regarding the margin for error on these back roads, it's usually always nil....this is what keeps me from taking any unnecessary risks. I've thought about trying a little autoX but, I fear I will love it......and that's just what I need, another expensive habit to supportROFL!!! Tom
  7. On my 1970, with 1 1/2" sectioned struts, coilovers, 200 lbs. springs front with 1" sway bar, 275 lbs. rear springs with no sway bar, 215-40 x 17 (f), 235-40 x 17 ®, I have, from the ground up to the edge of the wheel opening......front 23 9/16" and the rear is 23 13/16" . So as you can imagine, I have to pay very close attention to stuff in the roadway as well as going up driveways (front spoiler). I have just under 4" of clearance at the front frame rails. Is this low enough for everyone??? Do I like the ride???? Absolutely, I didn't build the Z to be a freeway cruiser but, to have a bunch of fun on the twisty back roads around SoCal. Tom

Your a scholar Mat....thanks for providing a finite explanation! Tom

You are correct in your assumption however, I,m not so sure of the availability of those ratios for the R180. I'm quessing that Blake likely knows the answer to that question.......Blake!!!

If you found metal shavings in the bearing assembly, it's time to change them out for new ones!

Have you checked out the archives? There should be plenty of info regarding your gas tank question, as this has been addressed many times. Please try the magic "Search" function. Tom

Your most most likely not getting any replies because this site is focused on the S30 model Z cars....nothing on later models! Sorry!
  13. Just a little clarification on "stiction"......short for static friction! And, I'm another person who thinks 17" on a S30 look great....of course, most any wheel/tire combo look great if well postioned in the wheel opening!
  14. One item I would pay close attention to, since the car is a colorado car, is the rust monster....! The car looks as though it has been repainted and may be hiding the usual points of rust....at least for a while anyway. Tom

I saw it! I was going to post it yesterday but, was a bit too busy. IIRC, it had the old slotted mags on it. Very cool to see the old Z in a current commercial. It would be interesting to know if it was intended to be included or if it was just coincidence!? Tom

Some pretty cool surprises you have aquired, especially the wind breaker. One think about the carb spacers, I believe they are fabricated from phenolic not wood! All I can say is, owning these old Z cars is just so cool. I've owned my 240 for 25 years and the longer I own it the better I like it! Tom

Just my opinion.......I've always felt that the actual position of a tire/wheel in the wheel opening is critical to the overall look of a car. If the chassis sits too high, most tire/wheel combinations look odd! On the other hand, many tire/wheel combinations looks outstanding when the ride height is such that it is pleasing to the eye! By the way, the Libres look great on a green Z.....all that needed is to lower that chassis a bit, and it will look even better! Tom
  18. A question I would be concerned about is the lose of flow (restriction) that the coolant filter will induce.....hmmmmmm! Tom
  19. Yep......240Z-Fan has it correct! It's a simple matter of piston area. Smaller = less force / larger = more force Tom
  20. Congratulations on your hard work Lee. Looks great too! Sure feels good to have a driver again...yes? Tom
  21. I seen the......Such grammar!!!????
  22. Bart, I would bet, if you do a little research in the forum and photo archives you will find information concerning your request! Tom
  23. You might want to take a visit to HybridZ, for the info you are looking for! A word of caution......before asking the question, as you did here, use the search function. The info is there if you spend the time to look! The information you asked for would require pages and pages to explain in detail.

Welcome aboard Roger! Information abounds in our site's archives. Accessing it is just a matter of a simple search with a question. Beyond that, most all on this site will be glad to help you out with whatever issue you incounter. Regarding the restoration process......Certainly make a plan of what you want as an end result, figure in your budget (it usually winds up being more than you planned), and of course do plenty of research before begining. Anything you may want to do has likely been done before and the info is here or possibly on the HybridZ site....if you are thinking of an engine transplant or are into race car set-ups. Anyway, keep us posted on your progress. Tom
  25. Filipe, If the seat belts you are talking about are original, them you may want to consider replacing them with new stock belts! Reason....these are safety items and should not be taken lightly. They likely are not as strong as when new. It's your behind however!!! Tom
