Dreco, Here's what I've done on my 240. I've attached the shoulder belts, drivers side and passenger side, to one of the three bolts that secures the top of each rear strut towers. It's in a very good location directly behind each seat and is a very secure attachment. You may have to increase the length of the bolt slightly. Be sure to use bolts of appropriate strenght....no cheap hardware for safety equipment!!!
  2. Try typing in "Dellorto carburators" in your computer search engine.

Sounds like you need to do a little maintenance on your latch mechanism. The latch is actuated via a pull cable, as you have probably figured out by now. Anyway, disassemble the latch, inspect it for cracks, repair if necessary, reassemble, lube it, clean and lube the pull cable. It should be operational now. Be thankful your hood was not in the closed and "won't open" position. This is just a simple mechanical mechanism, not rocket science. Good luck and tell us how it turned out.
  4. Steve, The early cross-member looks like yours, but eliminate the barrel shaped bushings that mount to the chassis and imagine a flat flange that bolts directly to the chassis. So, the early units only have one method for isolation....the later units provide isolation via the rubber mount and the barrel bushings at either end of the cross-member. Does this help at all

  6. quansta, Your question is just to general to provide you an answer. You might want to do is do a little research on this site and other Z car sites. There are forums that discuss technical issues on just about anything you can imagine, regarding setup and modifications to the Z car. Be aware, in order for someone to provide you with a good answer to your question, they would need to know the details of your engine, is it stock, any internal modification like a hotter cam, what's your induction system, etc., etc. We see these questions all the time here. So, spend a little time and do some homework. It's always a good education and you will discover that with the knowledge you gain you will be answering alot of your own questions. Also, when you do get ready to have your head worked on, take it to a shop who is familiar with the Z motors and have the knowledge and experience of doing proper porting/polishing and or decking jobs. To give you an idea of cost, you can be looking at about $850.00. I'm sure there are shops that will do it for less or for more but, it's not a cheap exercise if you want a good job done.

Datto-Zed, If the lock fits properly in the original lock cylinder hole and can be secured, that will solve one issue. However, the problem will be getting the tail piece (the lever arm part on the end of the lock cylinder that does the actuation when you turn the key) of the new lock to work with the Z locking linkage. If you can work this out you will likely be the first guy to have tubular locks on your Z. Good luck and let us all know how it turns out!

260Zed, Have had no experience with the Solex brand but most tubular type locks are of pretty good quality, so they should last. Other than that they do the same thing as any other pin type lock, except the pins on a tubular lock are oriented in the axial plane as opposed to the vertical plane in your standard type pin tumbler locks. You should be really confused now!!! The good part is that most people think these type of lock cylinders are SPECIAL and they will usually avoid trying to f_ _k with them (using a screw driver).......this is a good thing. Also, the tubular type lock is harder to pick open. Are you going to install these on the Z doors?

Try looking for Terry Oxandale's website. He has docuemented a couple of different brake upgrades, using nissan parts. One is for the track and one is for the street. I actually did his street conversion. It's pretty easy and I am more than happy with their performance. I'm using METALMASTER pads by the way. Good luck.
  13. The only advise I can offer, based on my experiences with different seats, is.........If you are a tall person and don't want your head right next to the headliner, purchase seats that have suspended type butt cushions (like the original Z seats). A lot of aftermarket seats use a shell and the butt cushion sits on the shell. By the time you install sliders on these type of seats you will be sitting relatively high. Now, a person can eliminate the stock seat supports (not my preference of course) and modify as required but, that's a lot more work. I'm 5' 11" and I have installed SPARCO SPRINT seats (without sliders) and have used the stock mounting. I had to drill a few new holes in the stock mounts and used some of the stock spacers to aquire my correct attitude but I now sit perfectly in the Z (240). Anyway, I hope this info is of some help to you.

Well..............the stuff may be just what the body shop guy says it is and all, assuming you can trust the body shop guys work. That's not to say he could also be extremely good. All I'm trying to say is....If you won't be able to sleep well at night knowing that you didn't apply the primer and POR-15, then go ahead and do the primer and POR-15. What's that old saying......"A ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Just some food for thought!!

Tanny, Definately some cool information. I was always curious about the sparkplug life on the top fuel diggers. P.S. I know some people, were I work, that can produce more hot air than the 3000cfm blower and they don't even know what a Hemi is!!! Do you know what I mean?

Ahh heck Ben, Be brave and just do it. If you think it will be cool, then it will be. Seriously, if you surf around this site and other Z sites I'm pretty sure you will find what you are looking for. Good hunting!

Easy there Larry! Sorry if any offence was taken but, I think you took my comment out of context. What I should have said was.....But hay, any old car that's been subjected to salt on the roads during the winter will look like that. Am I forgiven?

It's a beut!!! Did you notice the custom rear mounted radiator and fan. I hear it makes for good weight transfer! Oh, and the limited edition WONDER tail lights! You gotta wonder where they are? But hay, its from New Joyseee. I also like the color fade job under the hood on the fender wells....cool stuff!!! Seriously though, it definately looks like a parts car at best. The iron oxide monster is winning that game for sure. Steve.....you a funny guy! See ya on saturday

Yah, You guys are right about the red color, it is definately a ticket magnet. Years ago, when the Z was my daily driver, I was heading north on the freeway near Camp Pendelton and going with the flow of traffic. In fact I was in the middle of this particular pack of cars. Can you believe it, I was singled out and pulled over and ticketed for speeding. After leaving, the CHP left first, and about 5 miles down the road he had another RED car pulled over. I quess it's all a matter of tempting fate. Driving a red sporty car gives you the feeling similar to when you were little and you would take cookies from the cookie jar, then wondering if you will be cought! Oh well, you play you pay. The CHP that nabbed me last saturday was hiding out under a big shade tree with his radar gun. How petty, 67mph in a 55mph zone.....he probably spent the previous night on the couch because his wife wouldn't give it up!!! Or maybe he just couldn't get it up!!? Anyway I'm going to do the traffic school thing on the net, pay the ducks, and be done with it. Maybe I'll do a like research into radar absorbing paint for my Z. By the way, if your in the Santa Barbara area this saturday Steve from CCZCC is having a lunch gathering. Check out his post.

You might want to think about mounting the fuel pump with shock mount pads. It worked for me. Also, I went from a diaphram type pump to a gear driven pump. Instead of a thump, thump, thump, I now have a whirrrrrrrrrr. With the isolation pads I only hear the pump just before ignition, then I hear only the sweet music of my SU'ed L28.

Hay Carl, I would have thought one of the Ozzy guys would have been all over this post but maybe it's just the time difference. Wouldn't it be a hoot to drive one of those babies? 600 HP worth of fun!!!
