Braxton, Give Wilwood a call. I believe they make a small caliper, it mounts ajacent to the regular rear caliper, that is used for emegency brake only. Go to their web site for their phone number. Hope this helps you along.

Texasz, The gas strut looks normal, although it's obviously shot, but it looks like someone fabricated a quick fix for a worn out gas strut and added it on (clever anyway).....but that's just one man's opinion. I have a 1970 and have noticed that with the one gas strut and years and years of opening and closing it puts a heavy load on the same side hatch hinge and the hatch wants to twist with resistance, as most people tend to close the hatch by pulling it down from the center of the hatch. I've learned to close the hatch by pulling down on the gas strut side. This way your not putting a twisting momment on the hatch.
  7. Zv, You might want to give Ground Control a call about your cartridge requirements. I have gone through the exercise of cutting my struts down an 1.5" and installed their coil-over kit. My memory is not always the greatest, but I believe I purchased the strut cartridges from GC also. Anyway, they will most likely help you out.

Does your driveshaft rotate when you rotate the wheel, while the other wheel is not rotating? If it does, you are probably OK. It's probably normal wear. Speaking of a Diffy, have you seen the new pic post on the Z babe gallery? Now that's a Diffy!!!

The early model turn signals on a later model front vailance!!! Ya, I thought the trailer hitch was a nice touch, as well. But let's remember this is a special S30 thats rare!!! $3000 tops Also, I'd bet that the quicky paint job is hiding more than you would want to know about.
  12. It's still an H patern, but it a very tired and loose. The shifter bushing are most likely worn out and require replacing. I recommend you purchase a factory manual or a Haynes manual and conduct a little research on the subject.

Open the hood and look at the exhaust exiting the head. A stock unit is a heavy one piece cast iron assembly and a header will have six separate tubes that converge into a collector. Two types of headers are available, 6 into 1 or 6 into 2 into 1. Hope this helps you out TEXASZ

Just looking for some input! Has anyone out there, using 17" wheels, tried the new Yokohama AVS ES100 tires. I've been running the Yokohama A520 tires (215-40 17 fr. 235-40 17 rear), which seem to work pretty well for spirited canyon running, but it's time for some new skins. What do you think guys? I'm open for suggestions.
  15. Thanks to everyone for your input. I feel so much better now! Maybe sometime tomorrow I will see some pics of my Z, and you all can enjoy them as well. Thanks again everyone for your help.
  16. Thanks for your help Mike. The links you mentioned didn't show up until I logged in (I though that I already had!!?). I added two photos and a message said they were successfully loaded. So, I went to see the results and all that appeared instead of a photo was a message saying "photo awaiting approval"..............say what? Is this normal or what. I'm not totally computer stupid but I've never had so much trouble as with this site.

Just a thought, if you will, on oil preventing corrosion at the bottom of the strut. I'm not saying it will or won't stop corrosion, but oil floats on water! So, if water can find it's way into the strut, it will sink to the bottom. By the way, I use oil in my strut housings, as recommended.
  21. Give Dave Rebello a call in northern California. I don't have his phone number on hand, but you can get it from his website. He modifies early SUs to 50mm and may have the info you are looking for. I had a set done by him for my L28 and as I remember the needles were hand profiled.

Not to bad mate, based on what is visible in the photo. Looks like you've got a sun roof as well! Are those down-under override bumpers on the front end??? Well, I guess you've got your work cut out for you now with a restoration. Good luck and stay focused.
  24. Let's face it! For some people, their taste is in their mouth. Maybe the guy works at an abortion clinic..............sorry, I just couldn't resist that little dig.
  25. If by chance you've done a transplant in your series 1 Z (I am assuming you have an early 240Z), using an R200 differential and R200 drive axles (flanged type) from a 1981 to1983 280ZX and you haven't shortened the right side drive axle, you may want to check for U-joint binding on the right drive axle when the suspension travel places the axle perpendicular to the differential (the shortest length the drive axle will obtain in it's travel path).
