My personal opinion.......not my flavor, but if you like the leather dash...you might want to go with black stitching. Or, if this is your dash, dye the stitching. Interesting at best, but someone sure put some labor into it, for sure!!!

That clicking sound is likely a wiper motor relay and it's not getting suficient voltage....probably due to a poor ground or a corroded connector. This happens in old cars. Get yourself a service manual, ohm meter, and a power probe (awl like devise with a light in the handle and a lead coming off the handle with an alligator clip). It's just basic electrical circuit troubleshooting!

Yah, that was part of the show as well! The school bus races were all women drives.

Watchin TV last night...saw a pretty funny offshoot of racing! Three cars are strung together via chain or cable, front car has an occupant who has control of steering and an engine only, middle car has no occupant, last car has the brakes and steering only. The really funny part is that the teams that were doing the best used old Z cars as the middle car. Talk about some tail whipping action! Just wondered if anyone else saw this funny form of racing?

With the 17" wheels...if you intend to go with a wheel wider than 7" you may likely need to convert to coilovers for additional clearance they provide.

Heat soak is pretty much self explainitory. A part becomes saturated with a temperature.....in the case of a racing clutch compound verses street clutch compound, a typical race clutch is intended to have a high rate of grab but is not intended to see multiple engagements, as does a street car when a traffic, which involves a certain amount of slippage (causing heat build-up). A race clutch will not live long under street conditions and take offs will be much more abrupt. Does this explaination help any?

Well, about 6 more weeks until the West Coast Nationals @ MSA. Hoping for excellent weather of course....(raining = me no go)!!! As I mentioned weeks ago, I"m not entering my 240 in the show this year, just a spectator this years. This way I hope to meet more of you folks in person! Of course I will be driving my Z to the show...I mean, how could I not!? Anyway, I plan to wear a name tag with both my real name and website call names displayed for easy recognition. I'll be attending on Sunday, for the car show only, and hope to meet some of you there! See ya then! Who's all going?

#2 looks like a "PAMPERS"! You guys with kids know what I'm talking about! If your head gets splattered it wouldn't mess up the interior of your Z.
  12. Hey, as a last resort try putting it at the curbside with a sign that says "FREE RUNNING ENG/TRANS...just take me away". I don't know how it is where you live, but in some places it would be gone by the next morning!!!
  13. I think if you look real close at the front suspension, you can see that the standard strut has been removed and an upper control arm assy has been added......very interesting!!! Looks pretty classy on the out side, but I would fear what I can't see underneath the car.
  14. Good comparison Dave! Vic's eye for detail is getting pretty good. I agree, the undercarrige seems to be lacking TLC. Did you notice the front suspension configuration?

Somehow I get the feeling you need more than a helmet to protect us from you....... :stupid: Sorry, but you opened the door for that one.

My recommendation is to go with a solid, non metalic, color...no matter what color you decide on. I'll likely get blasted for saying this, but IMO metalic colors just don't do any justice to a sports car....with the exception of maybe a silver, similar to the factory Porsche color.
  17. Check out MODERN MOTORSPORTS website! These guys are quite familiiar with the CV conversions.
  18. Have you talked with the ring manufactures tech reps about your issue?
  19. ZSaint, I've been doing a little homework on the subject myself, as I have been thinking about a CV upgrade. Oh, and Gary is correct about visiting the HYBRIDZ site. They have archieves full of great technical info, but if you've never visited the site...use the search function first to seek out what you want because as with most car sites people tend to just ask questions without doing a little leg work up front. However, if I remember correctly the LH side drive axle does require less length than the RH side drive axle. I believe by disassembling the outer CV and reversing the assembly you will shorten the axle by the needed 3/8"....at least that's the info I got from the MM site that makes the adaptors. (MM = name of adaptor manf. that I can't recall their exact name, sorry). Check them out and good luck!

Well, that interesting! Were there any other early Datsuns, using the L6, such as sedans that may have used the heat shield with the upper positioned spring perches? Will be interesting to find out.
  21. I believe the doors are the same. The strech takes place behind the door. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Sounds really good but, it also sounds like you could use a closer ratio gearbox. I like it!!!!
