I agree Lance, with a little rerouting the e-brake hooks up fine. One practical reasons to use the ZX calipers, front/rear, and 15/16" master cylinder, is that no proportioning valve is required, to have a well balanced street set-up.

ecp48, Thanks for correcting my mistake on calling the Maxima a front wheel drive :stupid: :stupid: :stupid: You guys are right about going to the bone yard for these brackets and the effort to remove them......just buy new ones! While you have the stub axles out, replace those old bearings and seals....you know you need to do it!!!

I'm about at the end of my rope here!!! I've tried many many time to register @ HybridZ and have to date had "0" success. No matter what I do, it always gives me a message that says................Unsuccessful login try again or something of that nature. How in the heck do you get on to this site? Please help. P.S. If the administrator of HybridZ reads this post, PLEASE HELP!!!

  5. TomoHawk, Just out of curiosity, how did you arrive at 12a/11.5a!??? Maybe a typo? Watts divided by volts equals amps. Or volts times amps equals watts. Would it not be as follows....85w @ 7.0amps / 80w @ 6.67amps?

Chris, Another tidbit of info that may be of use to you. Of course, go with S.S. flex hoses on all four corners and I recommend the AXXIS Metal Master pads (manf'd in Australia) as well. They work great and shead minimal brake dust, if any. These pads are rotor friendly and claim to last up to four times longer than standard issue pads. So far, I am a believer!!!

Chris, Without accessing my files at home.......As I recall there are two different rear discs to choose from on the 280ZX's. Basically one has more offset than the other. The want to use the one with the least amount of offset. I'll look for details tonight when I get home and post the info tomorrow......unless one of members can help us out here.

Lance, Looks like the price hasn't gone up! Got mine from Courtesy Nissan about two years ago. I just think its so cool that so many parts interchange between models.............thrifty engineering I suppose!!!
  11. Hey guys, A couple of days ago, there was a post that discussed the rear disc brake conversion on early Z's and some of the folks were interested in what to use for the rear caliper mounting bracket. Well, I looked through my files last night and here is the info: When installing 82 - 83 280ZX rear calipers on the early Z cars, use the following p/n DAT 4415504S10 ADAPTOR C (2req) These are caliper mounting brackets from 81 - 84 Maxima front wheel drive cars and they are the ticket, as opposed to fabricating your own brackets from raw stock. Yes, a factory Nissan (Datsun) part that bolts right upto your early Z.
  12. Courtesy Nissan in Texas.......check out their website

sblake01, I concur. Last year I thought we would get to the Sunday show pretty early (6:00am) so we could get a decent parking spot.......well, it wasn't early enough and was put out at the farthest end of the show......It felt like we were stuck out in the south fourty or something. Hell, you needed a GPS just to find the rest of the show......OK maybe that's exaggerating a little but you get the drift!!! Hey, wasn't that one heck of a line we were all in waiting to be parked........it definitely tested the batteries with the start stop, start stop, start stop!!! I did push my Z some. Oh well, I guess that's just part of a LARGE show. Looking forward to seeing some of you at the show on Sunday

I've always liked to watch the B/J auctions, but sometimes you gotta wonder how knowledgeable they are about the cars! I was watching one of the shows when these two particular Mustangs where being auctioned off and they were being called 1969's when actually they were 1970 models. Come on, anyone with knowledge of Ford Mustangs knows that the 69's were the only Mustang that ever had dual headlights.....one set of headlights within the grille and the other set outboard of the grille. The 70's had the headlights within the grille only with two little slot like fake vents where the 69's outboard lights were!!! Oh well, I suppose we all make mistakes now and then........but hopefully not when that kind of $$$ is involved!!!

malder, Without being an authority on the subject, I would say that there is going to be some play, as you have described, form the clearance between the crankshaft gear, drive spindle and the distributor itself. Also, went you have the timing light on the marks, does the reading vary alot or does it look pretty steady? If it is steady, I would think things are OK and the play you have described is pretty normal. Just one man's opinoin!!!
  25. Steve, Talk to me about the LSD!!!! Regarding difting........It's probably the same evolution as the obnoxiously pumped up bass you hear coming from the kids cars now days. And they actually think it sounds good.....wait until these kids reach mid life, and all they will be saying then is......Uhhhhhhhhh, sorry I can't hear you, could you please repeat that!!!! I think it's always been considered cool for young kids to have and do things that are totally different than the generation that brought them into this world.....I know when I was that age, God I can actually remember that far back, I did those sort of things. Hell, who wants to do what your parents are doing anyway??? So, time marches on and thing continue to change..........get used to it. P.S. Some may call it the generation gap! What ever!!!!
