Best springs?
Well, Eibach is without question a good springs company. I run'em on all four corners of my 240Z. The fronts are 200 lbs. and 275 lbs. rear. Yes, they are a bit stiff but, that's the price you pay for high performance cornering capability. Just remember, it's the correct combination of chassis components that make for a good set-up, not just a good set of springs. Contemplate the following.....bushings, springs, shocks, anti-roll bars, adjustable camber and caster plates, adjustable transverse arms, relocating the front pivot point, strut shortening, strut braces, alignment settings, light wheels, tires and tire compounds, rollcage, etc., etc..............

Hydrogen fuel Means Trash your Z!
TomoHawk, Come on boy! Focus! I don't think you need to worry your little heart out about a fuel cell being implemented in the next day or two!!! Remember, the almighty dollar has incredible vetoing power and don't you think the oil companies won't milk every last drop of crude off of this planet for a profit? Relax, get in your Z and go for a drive.........you'll feel better!

R89-R90 Group C car
Another little know fact.........when these NISSAN IMSA cars were winning just about everything the engines were actually being tested and tuned in Southern California by a guy named Jim Fueling. Jim's shop was a short drive from my home and it was one of those places, that when you drove by the it, you would never guess what was lurking within.....very low profile!!! So, with the money from Nissan and the smarts of a SoCal guy.......well we know how that turned out!

Dazza, it's interesting that the Aussie cam cover doesn't read....DATSUN 2400, like the early USA model.

Engine Carb Side
mdbrandy, have you ever noticed that only the very early Z's have the brake booster vac line coming out of the back of the balance tube as opposed to out the top!

Very rare 240Z emblem
Interesting information. This site always amazes me with the info that pours forth. On my HLS3002126 (USA) the emblems in question are the chrome version.

Shots like this just get my blood pumpin! This pics is as good as any photo I've seen taken by a pro photographer for any car rag. Nice. Let me guess, if we could pan back we would see a Porsche trying to catch this pack.

Trouble finding rims
SuDZ, As a suggestion..........look around until you find a Z and or picture of a Z with the wheel set-up you want on your Z and then contact the owner of that Z car and ask him what was involved. I can tell you I've seen 14", 15", 16", 17" and even 18" wheels on the series 1 cars that fit well. As you already know, most of the custom wheels now days are for front wheel drive cars and have alot of offset built into the wheels. Wheel spacers and different length wheel studs are likely required. IMO, one of the easiest and most attractive wheel set-ups is the 16" x 7" Panasport wheels with a 50 series tire. These guys will bolt right up and will have the right offset. Another thing that is important and contributes to how good a car looks is how the tire/wheel sit within the wheel well.....basically you may have to lower the ride height from stock to get the correct look. Now, going to wide (8" to 9") 17" or 18" wheels you will have to install coilover shock to gain the additional clearance the wider wheels require. There are no easy answers and no one particular method for installing custom wheels/tires! But, I can tell you this, getting the right tires/wheel set-up on your Z and having your ride height correct is going to make the biggest impact on how your car will look. So, take your time on this effort and you will thank yourself later.

Aftermarket Seats
axelr8, The SPARCO seats I have installed are a model called the "SPRINT". Like I mentioned earlier, Sparco calls these their entry level race seat (their #1 seller) and utilize a steel tube framework as opposed to their more expensive fiberglass and or kevlar seats. One difference between the two styles is that the tube frame type mount via the bottom and the kevlar/fiberglass units mount via side brackets. I absolutely love the fit and comfort of the Sprint seats. Compared to the original seats, and of course this is subjective, there is no comparison. IMO the Sparco Sprint seats look way cool and better yet.....are comfortable as a pair of kid gloves. Would I do it again if given the opportunity? Yes!

Aftermarket Seats
axcelr8, FYI.....I have the entry level SPARCO race seats ( approx $200.00 ea) in my 240Z. I did not use the seat runners because I didn't want my head that close to the headliner. I'm of average height (5' 10") and was able to properly position my seats so the distance to the pedals was correct (mainly the drivers seat of course) using the stock Z seat mounting cross braces. The mounting studs on the SPARCO seats allowed me to just redrill holes in the cross brace. I even used some of the original spacers under the seats to aquire the desired seat angle. Be aware, these seats are not the easiest seats to get in and out of but once your in them and strapped in.....you are just part of the car....your not going to move around at all.....a very good thing for performance. Pretty easy install and really cheap for new seats. Hope this helps you a little. I love mine anyway!!! P.S. If you have a wife or girl freind with a wide rear end, they're not going for a ride with you in these seats!!! No disrespect intended ladies, just the facts. Oh, I might pay for that one:finger:
