240Z fiberglass frontend
I know someone here in NY who *may* be interested, but can you give anymore detail? Is this a G-nose, or is it the hood/fenders combo, or other? How much/what damage? Do you have any pics available? Thanks, hopefully providing more info will get you a sale. Jeremiah

Fender mounted mirrors
I looked into purchasing a set- found that Yuichi from www.strictlyz.com could get them for me (NOS). The downside is that they were $180US! He offered some discount, but still.. It has been suggested to get a similar style from Moss, or Long motors, one of the MG or Triumph suppliers, but i haven't looked into it. HTH, Jeremiah

miles?
its a best judgement thing. 150K should have much more wear. Carpet very compressed, etc etc. If the pedals are really worn, i would think its over 50K, but its really a hands-on judgement. JA

headlights (heehee..headlights...)
well, you can take the "bad" light to an auto parts store- they'll hook it up to 12V so you know for sure. May also have a bad or partially bad fuse (each side has its own). I spent 4 hours one day to find a fuse was partially burned out! Good luck, Jeremiah

IGNITION Problem
I have never used either, but i always thought (maybe i'm wrong though) that you used EITHER the pertronix OR the msd, not both?? If so, that may explain it. Hope someone else who runs either system chimes into help you out, good luck! Jeremiah

I too am interested, but not 60 bucks worth yet. Jeremiah

I don't have one (yet), but one of these days i am going to tear apart the fuel system. Get my gauge to read again, and sort out this pump, check filters, etc,etc Thanks!

I'm scared
ZCCR (z car club of rochester) has i think 20 confirmed entries to go. I'm not positive, as i am taking my yellow 260 to a local show on Saturday (which happens to be my wife's birthday). She may not be totally gung-ho on 2 car shows in one weekend as a birthday present....(but i sure would!) I'll work on her- if you see a bright yellow 260 with sunroof & black interior- come say hi! Oh, and look for a white 73 license plate "1 tuff z" Thats Dave Palermo, our club president got an L28 with a JCR supercharger..nice ride! Zya, Jeremiah

check-valve in fuel system?
Hi everyone- Can anyone tell me if there is or should be some type of valve to prevent fuel from draining back to the tank when the car sits? It seems that since last fall, when i put 72 SU's on my 260 & replaced the mechanical fuel pump (it leaked), when the car sits for any extended time (like overnight)- my fuel flows back to the tank. So I must crank the engine quite a bit to pump gas back up into the engine compartment before it will start (or so it seems). When the car has run recently, it fires immediately. I have noticed when i am under the hood at times, i can hear some sort of noise from the mech fuel pump area, like there is vacuum from the fuel flowing backwards. Perhaps my electric pump is faulty? Any ideas out there? It's not major, but an annoyance, and probably wearing my starter prematurely:( Thanks, Jeremiah

storage mount
Po did the same to my 260. removed lids from the stow boxes & screwed 6x9's in, over the carpet- the downside is removing the speakers to remove the carpeting (but then, how often do you take out the hatch carpet?) Jeremiah

Backfiring on decelleration
Do you still have the ABV in place still? (anti-backfire valve) It allows fresh air into the system to prevent the backfires- when i put SU's on my 260, i removed mine, and get minor backfires whenever i decelerate, or use the engine to brake. I try to think of it as the Z "burping" after chewing up some road:cool: Jeremiah

Does anybody have wheels like these?
I have a very similar set for my 73 i bought last year, in fact i mounted them today! They look great on my car, which is silver/black like yours:D Mine are 14X6 (just looked today) and have 185/70/14 on 'em, but i prefer 215/60/14- seems to be just about right for the Z. Jeremiah

I'm scared
I agree with Keith. A 50/50 mix will cool better, and offer the best protection from corrosion in the innards of the engine. Agreed with the oil pressure too, though it is weird that it acted up after an oil change, when it had been fine. Seems that most z cars aren't particularly accurate to begin with, and many show zero pressure at idle. A mechanical check sure as hell won't hurt, but it sounds fairly normal. Oh yeah, Redline "water wetter" added to the coolant will drop your operating temp around 10 to 12 degrees, i'm told. HTH, Jeremiah

280z 2+2 Update
Damn! Sorry to hear that Mike- though it makes me feel better about giving up the chance at that "free" car... I have only heard of the rebuilts- what is it- ATK, or something like that? Seems i've heard only good things about them, at any rate. On the upside, it looks like a nice wifey-driver, and even putting a rebuilt engine in, its not costing THAT much.. More than either of us would like, but... Good luck, and thanks for the update, Jeremiah

carburators
Hi Jay- May not going to see alot of response because this has been discussed here alot. Try doing a search for carb posts & read up. As a rule, most of us (okay, I..) prefer the 70 to 72 SU carbs. Very good for a stock car, EASY and plentiful. You can find webers, mikunis, DellOrto's etc and get into triples if you want, but its pricey, a major pain to tune, and there is little gain without other mods (cam/porting, etc, etc) HTH, Jeremiah

Will a stock 240 get rubber in second?
In my experience, yep- at least a bit of "chirp". No smoky burn-outs in 2nd, unless you're really into abuse:( Gets expensive when you thrash 'em! Seems to me that the Z's are built to drive/handle/be beautiful...if you're into tire chirps between shifts, sure...if you want to lay down serious rubber..Upgrade;) HTH

240Z for USD$18,000 ?????
It's been mentioned that Nissan has ceased production of body parts. We all know there are fiberglass panels available, but for anyone who doesn't know, Charlie Osborne has just started selling the rear panels at www.datsunzparts.com Looks to be a quality sheetmetal product. My 73 has damage beneath the rear bumper (PO drove like an idiot), so i will most likely use one of his panels. I'll let the list know how it works when the time comes. Thumbs up to Charlie for keeping the dream alive:) Jeremiah
