Frank, I think your theory is very plausible. I experienced the same thing with a '71 Corolla....by the end of '73 the dash developed a split during a spell of colder weather. Then again with a '76 Mazda RX3...by the winter of '78 or '79 another split dash pad. I remember forever cleaning the fog off of the inside of the windshield as well. I agree with Enrique. Install a dash cap and then it can be painted or covered with much less hassle and better results than repairing and fiber glassing the original surface.
  2. I applaud the effort. I am not a big fan of matte black used for the entire car...but that is just a personal taste thing. It appears to me the doors contrast in color from the adjoining body panels. Did you paint the doors off the car?

  4. Glad that you and the Z are OK... just a little sore.
  5. On top of that without the "trickle charger".
  6. Here is a video that has a mix of Euro, Japanese and American tones with emphasis on the Euro tones.
  7. That, it is. :classic:
  8. Frank...I really enjoyed your video. Although not as much as you I am sure. Now the question I have is...what tone is that?

Nice job...Juan. If you haven't already done so... be sure to use the mat on the roof and door panels.
  10. Nice find. It looks like with this addition you have a small fortune in restoration projects.
  11. Great job. The engine and undercarriage look especially nice.
  12. Sounds great ...but the pics did not load on your post.

C'mon.... Stephen you didn't have disco fever? Thankfully.... by 78 I had two kids the club scene and music had dropped down on my list of interests pretty significantly. Your list though from 78 does point out that the music did suck and to me has never recovered....at least for my taste. I like your 71list much better. Long Live Rock N' Roll.

Great idea! I have had fun going back in time. It caused me to realize that the month my "early model 74" was built was the same month that my wife and I started dating. Culminating in 35 years of marriage this year.Geez....hard to believe. Other ...memories of that year for me was in April of 1973, I bought my 73 "smoggified" Chevy Nova SS 350. I traded in a 1971 Toyota Corolla 1600 that as a 19 year old I had managed to run the _ _ _ _ out of running 510 Datsun's, MG's and the like. I always liked the 240 Z and for what I spent on the Nova I could have bought one but my best friends dad was the GM for AJ Foyt's Chevrolet dealership in Houston and constantly berated me for driving a Japanese piece of tin. He made me a deal on the Nova. My fondness of those cars created the desire to build my Z with a modified SBC in it. Great thread...... thanks for sparking some great old memories. # 1 Songs the month my Z was born: July 29 – August 11 1973 Maureen McGovern - The Morning After 2 August 12 – 18 1973 Diana Ross - Touch Me In The Morning 1 August 19 – September 1 1973 Stories - Brother Louie

Unfortunately ....you are probably correct. However, a friend and I were talking about that today and he holds to the opinion that with enough exposure there are buyers out there that would be interested in my car purely because they like the car for what it has been transformed into.... versus what it was. He contends there are buyers willing to give 30K for the car. He said this as we were looking at a 1967 Camaro RS with a 327,4 Speed and not matching numbers that was maybe a 5 on a 10 scale that was sold for 29K. But its really not an issue because I am not through playing with it.

That's a good one.... If he gets his starting price that could indicate that our cars are experiencing a big jump in appreciation. That means I might get close to what I have invested in mine.

  22. I guess he subscribes to the adage a picture is worth a thousand words. In which case he has 26,000 words. He also states for more information to call.
