Anbody use dynamat???
I generally concur with Enrique. I have included several pics of what I did...which follows Enrique's procedures fairly close. The exception being in addition to POR 15...I sprayed in a coating of Dupli-Color Bed liner. In addition before the interior goes in... I will be laying in a 5/8's" sound deadening fiber pad with foil on both sides thru-out...floor boards, firewall, sides and doors. Some may consider it over kill ...but I consider it prudent measures to quiet down the interior noise that will be present with a 400+HP small block Chevy V8 rumbling under the hood. Something I noticed is where the mat is installed the tinny sound is more of a thump sound. IMO I would put it in as many areas as you can. I used about 100sq.ft. of R-Blox. Below are shots of my process. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/503/medium/POR_15_Process_3-12-05_047.jpg http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/medium/PDR_1641.JPG http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/medium/PDR_1649.JPG

Other cars you own, or drive?
Vehicles are listed below....I drive the Titan...not to boring for a truck..good performance if you can handle $65.00 fill ups, wife drives the Maxima, we drive the Miata sparingly on weekends when carrying space is not an issue. The Z when it is finished will be driven on occasions...but on those occasions "Oh Lord"...I scare myself thinkin' about it. :nervous:

rebuild myself or find someone in houston
I second Moonpup's recommendation...... Call Doug at Awesome Z. Doug knows what he is doing and is a straight shooter. He's the man when it comes to Z's in Houston.

Howdo Everybody
Welcome neighbor. I am just down 99 from you in Pecan Grove. I have a similar story. It was in October of 04 and I saw my 260 on ebay and watched it for a couple of days and it stayed on $650.00 until the last few minutes and then went to $900.00.... it got down to less than a minute and I bid $1100.00 with less than 10 seconds and won it at $1025.00. I only had to travel to Granbury near Ft. Worth to pick it up. Mine was not a driver. It was a mess. No rust just lots of bondo and fiberglass in the floor boards covering up where the rust used to be. So now a year and half later and $$,$$$.$$'s later I am 60% finished with a frame up resto-mod. I would be closer to completion but in January I had the brain burp to do a SBC V8 conversion. That course change required more time, modifications and more $,$$$.$$'s. I have all the parts now.... it is just a matter of getting the time to do what I can do and the money and patience with the engine and upholstery guys. Drop me a PM if and when you need some help with Z parts locally and the name and number of a well respected Z specialist in town.

Replacing Floor Pans
Just one comes to mind ....from my experience doing this last year. Make sure to give yourself plenty of overlap of the new pan and the existing floor metal. The old metal was a bit thinner and had a tendency to want to burn away.

Restore-a-Door...
Sounds from what you described it could be any number of things. Check to be sure you didn't bend the front door jam where the hinges mount. Check and be sure your hinges aren't bent or you may just have to mess with it and play with adjustment before tightening the bolts down. Some of them can be a challenge. You may even have to grab on to it and twist it into alignment. Good Luck

Z Cars Seat at the Upholstery Shop...Getting Closer to Completion
Thanks.....So far to this point I am pleased with the work. Don't mind sharing ...however per seat is a little difficult to figure since I am having all the plastic panels, the door panels, headliner, sun visors etc.. covered in mello hyde plus full carpeting done for $2,000.00 includes all the materials. Yes... I have checked fit on the seats...the top (shoulder bolster) is very close but will work.

4th of July
Just for those who need some clarification on what the founding fathers really meant by the term "separation of church and state".... The state (government) shall not sanction or create a state religion. This was written so as to NOT have a situation like England "The Church of England".... as well as many of the other European governments that were controlled by the the Catholic Church. It was not meant like many wish to interpret it today. This is fact and can still be found. The Historical revisionists have not got to everything YET. Heavenly Father Thank You for this land and Thank You for blessing me with the privilege to be a citizen of the United States of America.
