  1. Expecting any kind of refinement from an abused 45 year old car is unrealistic . Exhaust smell issues are a problem when not addressed on these cars. There is a ton of info available on this issue. These cars are easy to work on and have good support and are relatively inexpensive to work on. And as your said, the smile is there when you drive it. Dodgy electrical is from abuse and age and just takes a little effort to set right- but it’s not an old English car. There’s hardly a better true classic sports car for the buck these days . Good luck. Also make sure the hatch inner vinyl panel is in place and sealed . Exhaust will suck in from there Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  2. When I looked at the site - it shows the grill with only to attachment points? Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  3. Make sure they click in place when you install them. I had to pop them with a dead blow to get them to seat - nice tight fit! Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  4. Funny thing is the steering wheel looks like the exact one that was on 4858 that I acquired - if my memory is correct Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  5. Good point on the valence and the fact there’s a spare valence laying in the hatch. Those are a PITA to fit also- no properly curved Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  6. Did you just acquire this ? Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  7. No- lightened a 240mm flywheel to 16 pounds . Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  8. I wouldn’t mess with it if it was all stock components that came from that motor. I think factory balance is fine if nothing was changed . I’d be more concerned with the condition of harmonic balancer and balance of flywheel and clutch assemblies . Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  9. CZCC FOREVER !!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  10. My buddy had/has a similar experience . Always leaked from day one around number 5&6. He was told it was within spec and try 2 gaskets :0 I will add that when checked with a straight edge the flange showed a bow and a twist . I have been fortunate with mine that I’ve had for many years . Maybe came from a different vendor .
  11. Though I called the short block assembly “toast “ , the pistons are off to the machinist for evaluation . A good set of mics and a much more experienced set of eyes to look them over. Got a cheap ball hone to run and up and down in the holes to see if they clean up enough to measure accurately . The crank should polish up! The head is getting ready for heat and straightening ( fingers crossed ). Don’t have any experience in this but it’s time to try. I know it’s been done before - so here we go . Resurrected the dead here -maybe
  12. Entertaining ! I am starting to remember how much work it is to strip a car down as I do my 71 part out. I tell myself it will be the last one - but wait I have two more to tend too
  13. It’s not a complete project - I don’t even have the title yet. Just looking at possible direction with the build. I would actually like to find buyer that would allow me to build to suit . Not sure how I would pull that off.
  14. Did a majority of these people see it in person and or ride in it and or previously owned one? I do think you have a specific market with a resto mod and you might have to sit on it for a while to find that certain buyer . This is a learning experience for me since I will be doing a resto mod on my 70. I don’t have the original motor so I’m kind of stuck in that direction . I was going to go more for a period hot rod myself . Like said above , stock seats and other stock interior bits , but maybe a modified L24 or L28 . Exterior wise I was going to be modified like yours , but wonder if I shouldn’t stay stock and have a sleeper ! interesting indeed

  16. As many of these Z’s as he has going at once I was worried the value of mine would go down when he floods the market - lol. Maybe there is hope for my resto mod on my 70! No way to make mine numbers matching so I’ll have to hope that it gets a twinkle in someone’s eye . I think the fact that everything is freshly done , paint , interior , etc... elevates value - especially on a clean car to start with. At 38 k , not sure how much he made for his labor . Correct or not , it’s a nice car and tastefully done . I’d much rather have had Hazmats car for that kind of money myself:)
  17. Any REPUTABLE machine shop should be able to do it. If I was a bit closer I’d offer to help , but I’m 4 hours away . TimZ on hybridz lives up there and is pushing 700 HP :0
  18. I didn’t take the front struts out to see if they were also Bilsteins . The springs on the back are ST ‘s , but front - not sure . They aren’t progressive so maybe a matching set to the back? The front shocks look like they have some kind of adjustment on the top- don’t know if that’s typical of Bilsteins. The car is just a shell now with only suspension to keep it rolling
  19. Well your Abarth system is as close to Ansa duals as your going to get . I actually went as far as contacting Ansa and talked to Mike ( I believe) who has been at Ansa since Datsun systems were around. He basically said that he would make a run of Ansa exhausts if someone could bring in an exhaust to replicate . The original dyes are whatever was used burned up in Europe many years ago , so he would have to copy a system .
  20. Yes I would call it a very tasteful resto -mod . I'd say your price is good if the body is as good as it looks . good luck and my condolences
  21. Not sure what you call my system - split pipe might be right Cliff. Mine does sound a bit different than a lot of 'twice pipes' I've heard . I doubt if anyone has the exact combo of mufflers too. I do think the pipes being separated on my car attribute to the difference in sound .
  22. WHATEVER you do - don't waste your time running duals all the way back - its loud and exotic sounding and a waste of weight and money
  23. Why would you assume that? Is it oil residue? Valve guide seals maybe Take a propane flame to it and see if it burns off .
  24. Just seeing if anyone has some performance valve springs for a high lift cam laying around . Maybe a matching cam too
