very sad story about a 240z imported to australia
Sad experience. It may be worth checking a recent resto thread here where a similarly damaged Z is repaired with a complete clip welded on from a donor.

Cannon Intake Manifold rod end possible solution
I put the pics and suggestions up reluctantly (and more so for others who stumble across this) as I know you (and skills and attention to detail, and striving for excellence and.... the list goes on and on and I have seen that wonderful machine in the flesh!!! Shortening A and experimenting with an eccentric to make the pedal stroke non-linear could be fun for you, I, CO, LaZeum and a few other geeks on this forum to explore

I saw the name mfgr once. I'll try to dig up. I think they are "ok". My buddies did not like them. They seem to be a Japanese design.- Identify these wheels
- Cannon Intake Manifold rod end possible solution
I think your A may need to be shorter to gain mechanical advantage (the push rods with the ball and socket joints may need shorter centre sections). The arm connected to the cable should also have symmetrical angles swept between fully open and fully closed just like A&C. This could be a first step. Re-drilling and tapping the middle support would be good (or updating to a larger diameter stiffer rod) Note: symmetry of sweep relative sizes of A and C relative parallelism of A and C at start- Carb Tuning with IR thermometer?
Measure the temp front to back on the spark plug side to see if there is a gradient. You can measure this along the head and along the block. Measuring spark plugs is nice data too.- Cannon Intake Manifold rod end possible solution
Pierce make this universal lever for the rod end. Difficult for your application but here in the thread for others who may stumble across it. It looks like machining two flat surfaces is required.- " basic settings first gen su " guidelines anyone?

I'll be doing this on my next resto starting in the spring. Every fastener will be sized and photographed and put online as well as an xls. Some data exists on line now but it is not complete. An online car parts manual is the best I have seen so far.- Cutaway Engine
Hi Alan, Still looking for the licence reference. Here is Hiroshi Iida's comment. He worked in Nissan's Second Engine Unit designing the L6's: "Mr. Iida said that they used the Mercedes Benz OHC design, wherein 12 valves are driven by a single over head cam shaft via adjustable rocker arms. The Cam is driven by a double row, roller chain with power taken off the crankshaft." Source: Nissan/Datsun L Series Engines- My Datsun 240Z

It is like a work from Leonardo !!! Brilliant! I guess once digitized, it can be mathematically analyzed to highlight structurally weak and strong areas then modified to improve. It would be great for designing after market parts and proving ones that already exist as well as roll/structural cage mounting locations..... probably aerodynamics too! Great tool!- Back

Yeah it is tough putting it together with the sealant however you can remove the excess sealant when it starts to tack. With no sealant, water will weep in..... especially on the bottom edge of any glass seal where it pools.- cleaning windshield washer bottle
