Could be an electrically controlled valve for locking the front brakes after being pressured by a foot press.... great for burning rubber.

  8. It was a blast. Nice car! Smoothest Z motor I have ever seen.

Get a 280zx 2.8litre motor with P90 head (not P90a) For carbs get triples (SK Racing. Weber, or Mikuni)
  10. Just black with dirt...the way they should be.
  11. One thing I forgot (but did yesterday) and it would be good to add to this thread [The shakedown test]: When the chains are on the motor and the crane has just taken the load, lift the motor ~ 1cm up off the engine mount then shake the hell out of the motor and crane. If anything will let go, it would be best to happen with only 1cm to drop. Also, remove the centre transmission to cross member bolt and loosen the two side bolts. Before removing the two side bolts, do the shakedown test, make sure the load is biased forward (so the transmission does not drop) then remove the further then near bolt. NOTE: The leveller has a lot of slop and when the centre of gravity moves from one side to the other, the leveller actually snaps quickly as the CG moves through center. Watch out for this as it can be a surprise. Also,as part of the preparation, have the castors on the crane turned with no load so that the crane can be pulled out w/o the wheels binding. The above lift was done with an 8' ceiling and ~ 5' of clearance in front of the car. Use short chains and the crane fully extended.
  12. It was nice to meet Joe and Matt. They are very hospitable and keen Z guys. It was a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing the Z when it is restored. Joe forgot to mention a few other things besides the Tornado warning. We tried to rescue Mothra but we were too late. We also witnessed the upside down superman flying cat and Cropella the rescue girl. That 70 has a great body. The rust repairs are all easy to address. It will restore nicely.

  15. I can't understand why the stupid bastards can't keep the same GUI's to choose from but just change the underlying engine. ie install 8 but select the xp gui... some simple intermediary translator software is all that is needed to glue the two. Heck I miss a lot of the features of the old 3.1 file manager.
  16. BTW I'd love to get a couple of valid Vista install CD's if anyone has any to donate.
  17. I hate the changes MS has done to the GUI's. The programmers took away so much out of either stupidity or trying to make it a Mac... all of Gates' work is being flushed. Even easy tasks like making a new directory suck because the file and directory tree resorts and you loose focus.... you could be 2 screens down near Zebra and make a directory called Apple but then it puts Apple two screens up and leaves you at Zebra. Even sorting is changed, it is now 1,2,3,04,0004,00000004, 4,5,6,7..... don't get me started on the "Ribbons" and how many more click you now have to do that were once just 1 click. The task bar also sucks in that you can't easily make shortcuts to directories, quick launch is gone and the show desktop button is now way down by the clock. I ended up having to write my own mouse acceleration table because the Win 7 one is crap. I actually like Vista's GUI the best.
  18. I may be able to drive up from Miami on Sat or Sunday PM me. Sunday would be better

I've never used these but I wanted to pick some up for Z restorations. A floor-pan or quarter-panel would probably be the biggest item to secure.... one at a time....maybe even a few to secure thicker ZG flares too as well as frame rail and rear valence. What selection of cleco's and tools would someone with experience recommend from this site to do the above? Clecos, Cleco Fasteners, Cleco Pliers for Sheet Metal, MRO Tools , Nova® Pneumatic Drills, Carbide Cutting Tools Any suggestion of cleco tools? I am guessing the manual plier-like tool is fine. What is the typical spacing when securing a panel? Thanks! Here are some pics I found.

  22. FYI I'll be restoring some z's for sale to Europe. ETA next year. I am located just across the Atlantic in Halifax, Nova Scotia where there is an Autoport. I can also buy cars in the USA, ship them here, restore-refresh then forward to Europe. My friend has a few 280z's forsale. PM me if interested.

I would rename the show: "2 Fools with a Camera and Car". The quest for content and reality tv product has set a new low.
