Nick....Ive been BUSTED by the Newport Beach CA. police....caught in the act itself....they drove by and it took them about a full block to realize what they saw happening in the tiny Z...then raced back to bust us...and im not a tiny guy...6'1" though the girl was like 4'11'' -5'0" ish....and to make it more difficult...it was in the drivers seat of a 71 Z. I never thought i could dress myself in the mere seconds it took the cops to double back. But welcome to the site

  5. Do you guys Prefer the handle with thumb trigger Over a "palm" type control DA? Personally I like the palm type better.
  6. Great Point E...I felt the same way. though I paid a touch more for mine...6700. but I really didnt hesitate on the price, its amazing that "almost orginal owner, all the paperwork history, orginal paint,no signs of rust, garage kept,117k miles etc etc" will make me drool too...
  7. Jackboxxx. No...its not a porn name (( xxx )) It is just a variation of my orginal name in the 1st online computer game I ever played years ago. something called "tradewars". It was orginally Jack in the box like the fast food place. I think i was at the point where you have to pick a name for yourself in the game and one of thier commericials was on the TV. since then, it somehow made it to my yahoo email address but i had to add x's to get the name. and then here..not very exciting really JacK
  8. that about covers it all Enrique's the man
  9. Hey Scott, do you have the wiring diagrams for them?? if you happen to have it, just scan or take a pic of diagram and send it to me. It list in its features that it has the armed output...and a 3 rd channel that can be a Continuous output. there may be more...hard to tel just from the retail spec sheet Lance

They are real tornados, nothing wrong with the mirror side, and anything can be refinished im doing body and paint work these days, and we do old sun beaten plastic all the time. mouldings, mirrors, windows trim bumpers, quite often. the key is Proper preparation prior to painting. if you prep it right, the paint will stay on a long time. 2 stage painting might not be a bad idea..(adding a protective clear coat on top of the paint). ummm price...well let me go look them over today in the light...

  13. Hey Scott, Nope that is an negitive Input wire...that your talking about. its used for when you connect to (in the case of a 240z or roadster) a pinswitch you installed to detect when someone opens/breaks into your hatch/trunk/hood. What you need is a negitive Output wire. there are many ways to do this , but look at for example your Starter disable output wire, its usually a constant - output when armed. you can control more than 1 item with this wire, like the starter and the fuel pump idea. But if your going to do this,, you need to do it right., meaning you need to isolate each item your running the alarm wire to. think of the wiring like an upside down Y, 1 wire out of the alarm, split into 2 wires..at the point where your going to split, you need to put a diode inline, allowing the negitive current to flow through, but not back..towards the alarm or other device. the diodes need to be inserted inline with the band facing towards the alarm. . the other outputs you are talking about are for other accessories, like power door locks, electric trunk release, etc..or anything you want to control that only need a temporary output. I used to pop my fuel door, trigger window rollup/rolldown start my car. lock and unlock doors, and pop the hatch too . (this wasnt a 240z...) all with 1, 2 button alarm system. What kind of alarm do you have Scott?? If i know the system i can point out what will work best.

is this car like ups brown? http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=9696
  15. Yep like the guys said the 70 series tires, new oem replacement type struts(and bumpers) for sure, new stock springs would be a good idea too. I would be interested in how different the zx springs are to the 240's like how hard would it be to convert to them? is it just a matter of changing or moving the spring perch? ive never looked under a zx , ive got no idea.

I had a set of those...on my last Z too...they were made by "Tornado" or thats the name on them and the box. it looks like your pass. miror still has the yellow "Tornado"sticker on it. and the type is a "flag" style mirror. I did a little bit of looking on google, for like 10 minutes, but didnt find any for sale. jc whitney had a flag mirror for sale, but, it has a longer post than the old tornado mirrors did. maybe a bit more searching will find some. good luck.

is there a 340z car that i dont know about? as far as my car goes, the drivetrain is totally swappable with the orginal complete stock engine which is sitting peacefully in my garage at 117k miles. (i wasnt willing to butcher up (err I meant Modify!) my original engine.)

Ummm sorry to disturb this cute 280 thread, Buttttt...the only true Z is a 240Z! And while were at it, whats up with that 280zx anyways..isnt it kinda like a ummm Mustang II? Just doing my part to fan the fire
  20. I really want to contribute no camcorder....anyone live in riverside co. ? ) but i have : Nissan motorsports chrome 3 into 2, 1 5/8" tube header, to a 2 into 1 2 1/2" collector, into 2 1/2" aluminized pipe to a stainless Magnaflow muffler.
  21. what type of switch are we talking about? a simple on / off mechanical switch? or ignition switch? or? the diodes are mainly used for alarm or keyless entry or valet type modules, because these are electronically controlled "switches" inside the unit. unlike a "real" switch that mechanically and decisively disengages, they can still give off residual output even after turned off. the outputs normally only operate in the milliamps (100ma-500ma) range when armed/activated, but it just takes a few milliamps to trigger these relays sometimes.
