  1. Hmmm... Thanks guys for all of the input and info. A few years ago, I bought front and rear coils, and front and rear sway bars from a buddy of mine from a parts car he had just aquired. All of the components were factory-painted yellow. I was told that they were all parts for a vintage BRE stage I kit (At least that what he was told by the PO). My understanding now is that they are probably Suspension Techniques. Can anyone confirm this? Here is a pic of the driver side coil that I pulled out to install the Tokico coils...(Please excuse the dirt caked on the spring) Please Note: My mechanic and I had cut a coil and a half (If memory serves me right) from the coils in front. Also interesting, I measured the ride height before and after I installed the Tokico coils in the front, and it was within 1/4" of each other.
  2. I just installed a set of Tokico 5020F Coil Springs and the attached pic is of the front driver's side installed on my 73 240Z. This doesn't look right to me, as I thought there should be more travel than this. Does this look correct? Any clarification with this would be much appreciated. Thanks, Richard
  3. Do you have a 280Z voltmeter/fuel gauge?

Wow, good feedback guys. I appreciate it. I have been doing a great deal of research on this, and while I do love the visibility of the HID system, I am very certain that I don't want to blind other drivers with my headlights. As much as I am wanting to, I have decided that I won't. So now it brings me to what is the best H4 bulb out there that will work with my Hella E code glass enclosures? And by best, I mean the brightest natural light and possibly the most efficient (?) bulbs. I know H4's are somewhat power hogs, so is there a good, efficient bulb out there? For the record, I do have Dave Irwin's headlight relay harness and it works perfect. I HIGHLY recommend it. And secondly, Has anyone replaced their incandescent bulbs (Brake, turn, park lights, etc) with LED bulbs in their 240z? I am currently in the process of attempting to go 100% LED to spare my 38 year old wiring some current draw. I have done a great deal of research on this also, and I am making some headway on what works and doesn't work well. I will be sharing the process in a writeup in about 2-3 weeks when I have everything installed. Thanks again guys! Richard

I am wanting to improve my Hella H4's by possibly upgrading them with an HID conversion kit. Has anyone done this? If so, what kit is the best for the money? And how are the results? Thanks!
  6. Here is a picture of the mustache bar end, and one of the new OEM bushings. Thanks!
  7. Ok. I have a '73 240Z. I installed urethane bushings in my mustache bar after burning and tapping out (Thanks Beandip for helping!). I quickly realized after driving that I hear all my transmission gears Very clearly now, which is not what I wanted. I got the new OEM bushings and two of the Large OEM rubber-covered washers. So tonight, I pulled the mustache bar out, and took out the urethane bushings to reinstall the new OEM bushings. But do I have to cut out the sleeve inside each end of the mustache bar to install the OEM bushings? And if so, what is the best way to cut out the old sleeves? I have some pics of this if would help. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!! ~Richard

  10. I got my wiring harness in on Saturday. I was expected good quality, but I was not expecting a harness that looks bulletproof. The overall quality and fit and finish is Top Rate! All of the wires are larger guage, and all of the connections are heat-shrinked. it all looks very professional. I am Extremely Immpressed. I look forward to installing it. It is definately worth every penny. Thanks Again Dave! ~Richard
  11. Does anyone know the spring rates on the original BRE Yellow Springs? I believe it was part of their "Stage I" package. Any help would be greatly appreciated! ~Richard 73 240Z

Does anyone know what these seats are out of? They are both (Driver and Pass) leather, and electric forward/back and tilt. I was thinking possibly Acura, Honda or Mitsubishi. Can you name them?? Any thoughts on this would be great! Thanks! ~Richard '73 240Z
  18. I lost commpression in my #4 cylinder, and a big loss of power in my original 240z engine. I am thinking that I need to have new rings put in, so I am in need of a good, experienced mechanic in the Portland, Oregon area (Somewhere closer to Beaverton or Hillsboro would be preferred) to install these. Any help of suggestions or referrals would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, ~Richard '73 240Z HLS30 163405 "A real sports car chooses its owner because it has a soul. 19. Wow, thanks guys! I appreciate all of the input. I am going to call the adjuster tomorrow morn to see if we can get to a happy medium. And as Brad-Man stated, I agree with your sentiment; all I want is what I had, nothing more, nothing less. Thanks again, I really do appreciate it! ~Richard
  20. I was rear-ended, and their insurance is wanting to total my baby. I have had three estimates to fix, and they are all running around $3,000. She is in fair-good condition, having many parts I have not put on/installed due to weather. I am just needing some advice on how to proceed with the insurance company. I truely want to keep her, but don't want a reconstructed title to ruin the value. What can I do? Thanks!!! ~Richard dr_rich007@hotmail.com

I have the same question as Scott. I need to replace my windsheild weatherstriping and the rear hatch glass weatherstriping, so is it really worth it to go OEM on those opposed to VB or any other aftermarket brand? Thanks, ~Rich

That's a great idea. I will need to pull the dash again to replace my heater hoses and replace the heater water valve, and I will be numbering wires that time! Thanks! ~Rich

Cool! Thanks for the reply. everything is back together and working! It took just over an hour to pull the dash out, and 3 1/2 hours to reinstall... But it all works! ~Rich

I have a '73 240. I just pulled the dash and am ready to reinstall. My first question is in pic on the left, the arrow points to what seems a ground housing. I have an illumination bulb that has a socket that is different than any other socket under the dash. It just happens to fit inside it perfectly. does it go there? And secondly, what plugs into the male spade plug on the block on the back of my speedometer in the second pic? I hope these aren't dumb questions, I just want to make sure everything is plugged in correctly. Thanks! ~Richard Dr_Rich dr_rich007@hotmail.com
