according to the spec sheet if I sand the base coat I must apply 1 to 2 additionakl coats of base, seams to defeat the purpose , so I sauid wizz on it and cleared it, The last coat of clear seemed to take out 90% of the orange peel, one fender with runs, but aint gonna show you that one

Ive got that setup on my 77 and wouldnt do it again, the struts seem alright but the springs as most know are shorter and ALOT stiffer although Im getting old at 47 i would have likesomething in between the tokicos and stock! my 2 cents worth!

Thanks E, the run i dont think I can fix, it was in the sealer!!!!!!!!!! And I had no patience to let it dry for a day the sand it out then re seal!! sorry!! but the base looks damn good , and thanks for the sanding base thing, I was gonna ask if I could. The spec sheet says after 7 Days I would have to resand before clear so I think Ill sand base today and try to spray clear this evening! Yes the buckets were tack welded in and then filled, they are not perfect forgo I am NOT a body and PAINT man!!!!!!!, this one is just another toy anyway will prob end up selling it, it was just something to do in spare time which ended up FULL TIME!! And in the mist of all this some chick pulled up and asked if I would like to buy her 92 300zx with new motor and new trans, for 2000.00, like I need another, oh well Ill prob add it to the colection hehehehe.

Its all in the latch mech. I know the 240 have a larger openeing for the large catch that mounts on the door pillar where as the 280 has the smaller opening with a completely different post type latch on the pillar, wont work without major rework!

Hey "E" would you start from the bottom up or the top down, I would think top down because of the overspray/misting settleing down?
  23. TBK1 posted a post in a topic in Body & Paint
Thanks "E". Already did the hose drag bit, only took once to remeber that!

Well a big thank you to all you guys for the "coaching" along the way. Think I have gathered enough info to give it a go. here are a couple "BEFORE" pics. gonna be in the 70's this weekend, think it is time!!! Been talking to the paint rep from napa (guy that services all the paint and body shops) and here is my intentions. first step is WHITE TINTED SEALER, not a primer sealer cause I used rattle can duplicolor high build primer and he said that is laquer based and could have an issue spraying primer sealer over it! second step of course base coat, getting a gallon so should have lots with left over. then clear coat, all are supposed to be ureathane based! got to go start taping things off! Oh already did single stage in engine compartment underside of hood and underside of hatch for those that have been following along! And yes I did end up tacing the buckets to fender and hiding the seam! Why, Just because!!!
