Flowmaster 40 series Question
Sounds like I need to get it welded up and see what I have. I will modify the system as needed once I get it running.

Flowmaster 40 series Question
How about a 12" glasspack? Will this length of glasspack take the 'sting' out of the exhaust note?

Anyone done any cam timing lately? Need help!
I am hoping to get the car finished next month. I have a lot of interior work to do. I am hoping to put the engine and tranny in next week. The new windshield will be put in on Monday. I am still waiting for 'blue diamond plate' interior pieces from Motorsport. I cannot finish the car without the rear shock tower vinyl. I have been waiting for 30 days for my order. It is difficult to wait for these pieces. I will give everyone a performance check on the Z. It should be a great driver!

I have the specs at the shop. I will bring them in tonight and see what the lobe separation is. You make an excellent point.

Flowmaster 40 series Question
Ouch! I do not like the word, "loud". Maybe a short glass pack is needed, right?

Anyone done any cam timing lately? Need help!
I have a Web Cam, grind #91. It has .450" lift. I have it in a rebuilt 3.0 block with a ported 90A head. It is running 9.0 compression. Lots of vtp clearance. The cam timing sheet states that I should run it 4` advanced. I am wondering about that setting? I called WEB and they said it was OK to retard the cam a bit to get a little more top end. I dialed it in with 2 1/2` of advance. I am thinking I need a bit more top end power because this 3.0 engine will have all kinds of low end torque. I thought I needed a bit more power at the top end. Am I doing the right thing here? Or, should I set it at 4 1/2` (close as I can get it) advance and go with the bottom end power? It was built by an engine service company and has all of the "tricks" done to it. It will run ZTherapy SU's, electronic ignition, 3.9 L/S, 5-speed, 3-2-1 header with a 2 1/2" system. I need somone's opinion on this cam set-up. Phred? Anyone?

Flowmaster 40 series Question
Good question Derek. I have one of these in a box ready to install. I am wondering the same thing. How much noise will this thing make? I have a 2 1/2" system with headers. I do not want to sound like a Honda!

Windshield Glass -- foggy
Rick, there you go again with those strange spellings.... HUMOR not humour. I can understand most of the names but why call it a bonnet? Maybe a hat or cap or how about hood? Something that hoods the engine, right? Now I just cannot understand calling it a bonnet. Maybe someone put a 'bonnet' over the engine on one of the first autos and it stuck, right? How about glove or whisky box? What do you guys call them? What else can you put in them? Braces... How in the world did braces come from suspenders. Do they brace the pants or suspend the pants? People in this world really need to know these things! Here are some Mississippi River sayings I bet you did not know... "Well stacked" means a paddle wheel boat with nice large stacks. A thing of beauty in it's day. "Blowing your stack" comes from pumping steam into the stacks to knock the ash out of them. Watch out, he's blowing his stack! (See, they burned a lot of wood to create steam and the ash builds up inside the stack. To keep it from choking the fire they used a stream of high pressure steam to blow the ash up and out of...! You get get it, right?) It is funny how these things start and what they mean today. But Bonnet? Hmmmm? :cheeky:

Looking for a RHS 240Z mirror?
I did enjoy your perusal of this mirror. Sometimes we get excited about a ebay buy and do not take these type of things into consideration. It is a nice service that the forum provides. Thanks for the info!

Windshield Glass -- foggy
How can the Aussies be giving us a bad time... They call their body men, 'panel beaters'. Who ever heard of such a thing. Maybe in their newest dictionary it will say 'bondo pushers'. Now that's descriptive! :squareeye

Looking for a RHS 240Z mirror?
I am looking for stock mirrors. I have a '71. If this is an option on a '72, no big deal. I can use them in good conscious. I have a set of the bullet mirrors but I really want a 240 Z mirror. These look like they will do. You say they fit into the stock holes in the driver door? I can drill the holes for the passenger door? I think some of the 280Z mirrors were plastic, correct? I will look for a set of these metal racing mirrors. I look forward to rebuilding them for my car. I did Mopar A-Body mirrors but the plating go too expensive to make any money at it. I quit doing all of the work for a few bucks. Now I just work on my Datsun. It is a full time job! :knockedou

Carl or anyone, do you have a pic of these mirrors? I am interested.

Going to my FIRST Datsun meet...!
I was there and saw your Z. Nice car, by the way. I had on the Classic Z Car hat. We talked about the carb heating system. It is good to see the cars up close. I bought my Z in CA and drove it to Salem. I had it about 30 days before totally disassembling it. Now I can see where everything goes! I'll be back up in the AM.

Going to my FIRST Datsun meet...!
Well, it did not rain and the weather was good, for Orygone. Not many cars there yet. Not many venders there either. Maybe the cars and venders will show up tomorrow

Mechanic suggestions - Detroit?
I cannot tell my your pic but do you have a RHS mirror on your Zed? Do they use them in Australia?

Going to my FIRST Datsun meet...!
26th Z: I don't know what their classes are. I will let you know when I return today. I would guess they have stock and modified classes for 70-78 Z's. Maybe the entrants do the voting? We'll see!

Looking for a RHS 240Z mirror?
I have a set of "bullet" mirrors for the Z. I really want a set of OEM mirrors for the car. I guess I will just find a set of used mirrors, break the glass out, disassemble, send them to the plater, get some mirrors built, assemble and put them on the car. Sounds like a simple task to me. I know they build repro mirrors for things like A-body Mopars. Why not for Datsuns? No demand or?

Going to my FIRST Datsun meet...!
Great! I will bring my Olympus and take a few pics. I will bring my rain suit and my hat and an umbrella. You just cannot be too dry these days. I will have on a Ping rain hat (my Z hat if it is dry!) so look for an old worn out fat guy! See you guys tomorrow!

Looking for a RHS 240Z mirror?
I would like to put my name on the list for a RHS mirror. Anyone else want one? I feel that someone could do a "group buy" in England, Japan, Australia, etc. and get us a decent price and make a couple of bucks for themselves. Anyone 'overthere' interested?

Going to my FIRST Datsun meet...!
I am headed to Canby for my very first Datsun Show. I have been to many Show-N-Shine and Mopar events but this is my first Datsun/Nissan event. Hope to buy a few things and see a lot of cars. I think the weather will be dicey but what is new in Orygone?

Looking for a RHS 240Z mirror?
I ordered a new mirror from Courtesy Nissan and they eventually returned my money. I never received an explanation. Their charge was 77.68. They returned my money to PayPal. I would like to buy 2 new mirrors. Where else can I go? I am guessing the they must sell these RHS mirrors in England, Japan, Australia, etc. I can trade one of the LHS mirrors to one of the "right side drivers" for a RHS mirror! Driving without a right hand mirror is nasty. I keep looking for the image and there is nothing. Got to have a stock mirror, though. It has to be OEM.
