So after about two years I thought my Z would be ready to roll today. I charged the battery overnight, made sure it took a charge and put it back in the car. I connected the positive cable first, but when I connected the negative cable sparks started flying. I heard a low kind of humming (or frying) coming from the starter/solenoid. I disconnected the negative cable right away. So what do i do know? Ive never had sparks like that before and haven't done anything to the electrical. What could it be? I know JACK about electrical, any help would be appreciated.

I am currently re-doing my whole clutch system and I need to get a new clutch line. I plan on bending a flaring it myself but I don't know where to get the line it self. If anyone knows of a place near Rancho Cordova (outside Sacramento) that carries them I would appreciate the help. Thanks
  3. Hey Guys, Im getting ready to replace the differential insulator mount, to hopefully get rid of my rear end clunk, and was wondering what the leased painfull way to go about it is. Is there any way to replace it without dropping the whole diff and drive shaft? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey guys, I stared installing a new clutch master cylinder today and discovered that the clevis pin connecting the master cylinder to the pedal is completely shot (took about an hour to get it out). Anyway, I was wondering if this is a part I can get from the auto parts store or is it something I might have to find online. Your input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Will the half shafts off of a 1975 280z fit on my 1970 240? I can have them for free, so I want to know if they will fit.

OK,so when I first purchased my 240 less than two years ago, I had to replace the u-joint connecting the rear diff to the passanger side half-shaft. It was in pretty bad shape. Then today, while I was driving, the same u-joint broke (YIKES). So my question is, is this particular u-joint a common problem? The tow truck driver said he had a friend with a Z that had the exact same problem with the same u-joint. Just curious. Jeff

Hi all. I'm getting ready to pull a L28 engine out of a 75 280 but the engine does't have the brackets used to connect the hoist chains to the block. I was wondering how I should connect the hoist without these brackets. Thanks Jeff

Ya, lived in rancho for about four years now, I drove as far away as Merced looking at Z's and the one I ended up buying was in rancho also.

Hi, I'm not actualy a new user but I've only posted once and I've never introduced myself properly. I purchased a 1970 240z (vin HLS30-01996) about five months ago as a project car. I owned a 280Z about six years ago and always regreted getting rid of it. My plan is to eventually do a total restoration, but for now I just want something I can drive to work a couple of times a week. What I am hoping to get most out of this forum, is advise from people that have done a restoration and can help me avoid mistakes. I've taken lots of picures so far and plan to get a gallery going soon. When my restoration is done I would like to have a car that is fairly original, so I would really appreciate pictures of a good original car (inside and out). Oh, one last thing, I live in the sacramento area (rancho cordova)and was wondering if anyone knows a good Z mechanic or would I be better off joining ZONC and getting advise from More experieced z owners. Thanx Jeff

The half shaft on my Z turn about an inch before the wheels start turning. I'm sure this is the reason for the "thunk" sound I hear when I let out the clutch. Any ideas on what the cause is, u-joints etc..? Ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
