I took out the smog pump, and next to come out is the tube that has six tubes to the exhaust manifold, i am going to remove this all, does anyone know the size of the bolts, or the plugs needed to plug them up. I would be able to see but i'm an hour away from home down here at college and I wanted to know before I got home so i could pick up the proper tools and plugs. Thanks
  3. I guess like i have said many times before, my shop manual must not be the right one, it tells me very little, no no make that nothing about where or how to check, the tranny fluid and what to use. I do trust the shop manual that i have even though its lack on somethings and i do trust the post, and i did read your post #6 and #10. Thank you Carl

Well i can't seem to find the right size wrench to use, I have tried both metric and regular, any ideas?? I was also wondering what size plugs I would need to plug these holes up. If you have any info, please let me know! THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!

  12. I know this sounds dumn, but, I was thinking of things to do before I get my car running and take it out. The tranny came to mind, I thought maybe I should check the fluid, and it dawned on me I dont know where or how to, and what kind of fluid to add when i do find it?! Sorry for my ignorance, But please help
  13. Here is what my carbs look like, I have dual weber 32/35 dgv-5a, they need rebuilt though.
  14. well i think i found someone to rebuild the carbs. The question is, do i try to adjust my valves, or take it to have the mechanic downtown do them and charge me both legs and an arm for that and then the other for something he'll make up that really doesn't need replaced. I have read and I think i'll start out adjusting them cold and see how that goes. I bought the gappers today, i know cold is .008intake .010 exhaust and hot is.010 intake and .012 exhaust. I personally don't know how to do this, but it can't be that hard, and if all fails I always have my cousin who went to wyo tech to have help me. I have read all the fourums and they say dont' use new plugs, untill done because they will just get fouled up. Is there any other tips andtricks to this. I hope this will be easy! So what do you think should i give it a try?

Just think of it happening for a reason, , maybe if you hadn't done that and engine hadn't fallen and you got it put back in the car one day eariler, maybe on that one day ealier you might have taken it out on a test drive and blew up the engine, wrecked the car, ect. I always think that god must be giving me a shitty day for a reason! Best of luck my freind!
  16. Does anyone recommend I take it to have it tuned by a pro, that way i know its right??
  17. WOW thanks alot Gary, your advise is a major help. First off my engine has about 75000 miles on it. It had been sitting for i think about atleast 2 years. Like i said it runs but is spits and sputters, I know i need the carbs rebuilt , and It seems to get smoothing running the more i run it. when i do run it it spitts and sputters and sometimes shoots a ball of fire out the carbs. I think the rebuild on the webers will help that alot. As for the rest i''ll check compression, and all of that, but i hope its just the valves which I'm pretty sure are far off!! Thanks alot for you help, hope to hear from you soon!
  18. Great Thanks for the info. I'm heading home right now to try to fix the prob.!

I can't wait to get the engine running strong, even if it is the original. I just love shifting throught those gears!!! Oh and new 2 Z its not the speed that cost the money its the tickets you pay when you have speed that cost money!! TRUST ME!! 117 in a 60 $232 75 in a 60 $185 54 in a 35 $89 racing 3 times all warnings (THANK GOD!!) Priceless
  22. My 2nd cylinder had low compression, the guy that looked at it said you thought the piston ring from sitting for 2 years was not good. I got it to run and drive finally. The dual webers need rebuilt I think, it was doing alot of spitting and sputtering, not much power, most of the time! Please tell me what you think I should do, are the webers easy/cheap to get rebuilt, and what about the 2nd hole, how much $$$$ do you think it will take? Thanks guys!!
