I live in Portland Oregon
I live in Bend Oregon, I was in Portland last month I think (at a Holiday Inn Express no less) Right now I have a 73 240 Z, a 67 1/2 Roadster 2 liter, a 68 2000 roadster, I have a Honda Element for a daily driver. We also have a Toyota Sequoia 4x4 for the family wagon in the high desert. Currently in Abingdon Virginia. Tomorrow I start my 12 day work shift. The work truck is a 2001 Bell 206LIV Longranger. Seven pax helicopter. Looks like we may have a wildfire to go work on. Phil

Z therapy carbs...how good
Ditto, I have bought 2 sets and one rebuild kit so far. Z-Therapy is the first thing if you have the jiggles in your throttle shaft. On my Roadsters which are basically the same, the carbs solved 100% of tuning, and idle problems. The guys are alos the best to work with and are very patient. I also still have the video. Just follow directions and it will work. 2 Thumbs up. Phil

Ebay starting price
Well.... The great thing is I don't have to sell anything. I am justing pondering re-aranging the fleet. Maybe. I have a 68 roadster the yellow one which is totally original. All paperwork since new, dealer sticker, black Ca plate, sales contract you name it. In 1968 they bought the car for 36 payments of $90.14. It is a car with some historic responsibility I feel. I was looking at the scale and it is a mid to high 3 car. The car also has the B cam with new Solex carbs appropriate to the year with just 150-200 miles on them. I can't really do much with it. It has some small dings, chipped paint here and there. The original paint is still very nice other than a few small things. The interior is beautiful it is a very nice car. I feel if i mess with it and make it perfect it would be worth less. I consider these flaws a kind of patina. It is kinda like on the antique roadshow when they find the killer Boston chair. Worth $XXXX. Now if they hadn't re-finished it it would be worth $xxxxxx. I have my 67.5 2 liter which is a nice driver but the frame number dosen't match, although it is registered as a SRL 311, the color isn't stock it needs this and that. I love sourcing the parts, driving it and fussing over the things it needs. I am picking up the 73 240 in the am and for what I paid the sky is wide open on what I could do. I could fix the bumper, paint the car and flip it, or since it isn't a historic low number car I wouldn't feel guilty If I added some cool things, if the parts aren't perfect, or exactly the right thing. Anyway I know that most cars like my yellow car are sold "back channel" so to speak. I have let one guy know it may be available. It is worth every penny of the high blue book. 19-20K Due to the condition and documentation. My wife likes the cars and thinks I am crazy to even consider it. I think a survivor is more valuable than a restored car in some cases. Like I said I have been off for 5-6 months from my real job of fire fighting and the mind wanders. I have been trying to kick this cold all week and spending waaaay to much time on the computer, although I do notice Arne, when ever I log in your usually hanging out as well. See you tomorrow. Phil

Ebay starting price
Hi All, Just thinking here... I know scary thought. How much does the starting price of a auction effect the final outcome. If you start out the auction with too low a price it seems to have a hard time building up steam. Even if a guy is willing to pay alot for something he can't get there without competion from another bidder. I have had to deal with this on parts quite a bit. I have sold 1 car on Ebay but I watch auctions daily. I sold a roadster for a BIN of $7500. I started the auction at $3000 IIRC with a reserve of $6000 and the BIN of $7500. The car sold in about the 4th day of a 7 day auction. I believe a pretty good starting price is important to separate the tire kickers. Any one else have any thoughts? It is probably about time for me to go back to work. Going to be in the Abingdon VA/Bristol Tenn area for the next 2 weeks hanging out at the airport. Any members from that area here? Phil

Another what do you think price thread
Hi all, I thought I would at least let the guy have his coffee this am. It is going to be a done deal today. Now the part you are really going to hate. I figured if you thought it was a deal at $2300, actual price is $1500.:cross-eye I post more pictures when I get it home this week. This should be a fun one I think. I'll go throw it on a trailer and drag it home this week. It could be driven I think, but 130 miles through the Cascades with the snow I saw yesterday is probably not the best idea. Ok, that settles it.:classic: Phil

Another what do you think price thread
Carl, Thanks for the words. I'll have to look a bit and post his number..... I e-mailed him last night and asked a couple of more questions. I guess I am going to take it off the market for now. I may clean it up and put it back out there or keep gas in it and drive it this summer. I live in Bend but my fire contract is in Grangeville Idaho. It would be a fun car to drive back and forth to Idaho where I work in the summer. I'm sure it would get better gas milage than my boxey little Honda Element. The car came from California I believe. The owner wants it out of there before their son turns 16 next month. Springbreak is week after next and they also want to re-claim some space. I took a couple of pictures before my batteries died. I added them to my webshots site. I'll post the link here. Also you can see my roadsters. Now I'll have to find a place to stash one till I get some work done on a Z. http://community.webshots.com/user/pdfenter?vhost=community It will be nice to get back in the saddle a bit. I really liked both '72's I owned. I love driving the Roadsters. Here on the dry East side of the mountains we get plenty of roadster days even in the winter. The blue car came from Virginia and your right shipping is tough to arange and pretty expensive. My 67.5 took 15 days to get picked up. I would drive a 240 across country in a heart beat. The roadsters are great cars for shorter jaunts. 200 miles in a day would be a long day. Carl If you want the car I could probably drive it out for you.. Thanks Phil

Another what do you think price thread
Hi all, Been out of the 240's for a year or so and been messing with roadsters. My sister-in-law told me about a car a friend of theirs have and want to sell. The car is a '73 240. Car is silver and not messed with much. Looks like 123,000 miles. Silver with black interior. engine pretty dirty, Looks to be maintained pretty good. Owner wants it out of the garage. Has not been driven much in the last 16 years. Last tags in 2000. Car has been stored inside garage with gas drained except every year, they put fresh gas in it and drive it around the neighbor hood to keep it going. Has 4 screw round carbs, shafts a little loose. The car starts and runs very well. Someone bent the front bumper in a parking lot but didn't get into the hood or grill at all. The drivers corner of the bumber just pulled away from the fender a bit. There is some damage to the drivers door, as well as the drivers quarter panel. It was the wife who backed into it. Jam is fine looks and it real minor 2-3 hrs body work. Car has been painted once and needs repaint. I crawled all around the car today. Some flaking under the drivers floormats. Seems to be in the jute. Didn't poke with screwdriver but I think it is still pretty solid elswhere no rust. Nada. Rockers are excellent, batt tray has some flaking paint but no rust. Frame rails looked good. Under the spare was fine and under the rear hatch as well. Front fenders, and rear wheel arches. I couldn't find any cancer anywhere. I saved the best for last. Perfect dash door panels are 99 percent perfect. I saw a couple of small cracks right around the door lock but that was about it. The owner is asking $2300 what do you think? Last 2 things. looks like MSA front air dam and a huge yellow sway bar in the front, and some yellow sway bar in the back. Thanks Phil

Might be on Ebay soon...if so don't abuse me too bad
Randy, Looks like a great car. I sold one of my roadsters last Dec on E-bay. It was a good experience. Set a reserve price you can live with a fairly high buy it now. Set it up for a immediate pay-pal deposit. My buyer flew in with verifiable funds, and rented a truck and trailered it back. He could have driven it but a roadster from Bend to Seattle in Dec... I made a history of the car in a word file detailing all that I knew about the car. Good things and bad. When I recieved a question I just did a cut and paste it was real fast. I ended up getting what I thought was top dollar especially for a convertible in December. It was a good experience for me. Now that being said all comments are worth exactly what you paid for them. If you have a weekend free it might be very worthwhile pulling the engine and detailing it out. I love your car as others have said, buying long distance that batt tray would be a cause for concern. I just bought 2 more roadsters a 67 and a 68 or I would also be a buyer. Do give the guys on the club a shot though. What do you want to get for the car? Good luck Phil

4 x 108
I see... Pacifico is a completly viable currency..

4 x 108
It looks like I might have gotten stuck with some BBS wheels. The pattern is 4 x 108. Some (enter expletive here) advertised them on Ebay as 4 x 114.3. The wheels are 14 x 6 with 22mm offset I am trying to resolve this will the forementioned gent but we will see. If I do have to re-list them I would like to give the next guy the right info. So far I have found they will fit some of the older Audi cars. Hoping somebody know a good place to reverse the fitament chart or something. I should have bought the rewinds. I also wish I could talk Victor into shipping me his set of Revolution wheels. Come on Victor.. I will say please and get you a helicopter ride if I am in So. Cal..

Don't worry.. Strictly helicopters. I like going 100mph but it is way to fast to land. Should be in Washington state by Monday dropping water on a forest fire..

It lives!!!!!!!
I took my Z out for the first real run this afternoon. I bought the 72 240 I found here in the classifieds about 2 months ago. The car had been sitting since 93'. So far rebuilt the carbs (z-therapy kit) dropped the fuel tank cleaned, sealed and checked the system, battled a fierce electrical battle. Symptoms of a bad fusible link but turned out a bad ammeter will do the same thing. I have rebuilt the brakes all around. New shoes and cylinders in the back new oem rotors and toyota calipers in the front. The old slotted wheels were pretty coroded so I have been waiting on some BBS e-bay wheels. Wheels showed up with a 4 x 108 pattern. I have had some new Falken 205 60 14's in the garage for 2 weeks but was waiting for the new wheels. Decided I will work on cleaning the old wheels, order some new Rewinds in the near future. So I put the falkens on today and went for a ride..... Sweet..... and smoooth. The tires were the last thing holding me back. I tested the carbs and such but the old tires were cracked and I did not go any further than I cared to walk. I'll drive it to the airport where I work tomorrow about 15 miles I can't wait. Thanks for all the help, this forum has been invaluable. :knockedou
