  1. Are you talking about his original wheels? If so, they are American Racing Vectors. I always call them "Dukes of Hazzard wheels" I have them on my 260 crapcan racer.
  2. Excellent job mally, thanks for sharing your photos! Restore another half dozen like that and you'll give Guy some competition.
  3. I need to tackle this on both of my cars. Thanks for the recap.
  4. In a word, yes. Panasports are much better quality than the Rotas, Rewinds, and SportMaxx wheels that look similar. The runout is better and the wheels are stronger. I worked with OE wheel suppliers for years and there is a huge difference in wheel quality out there. There is a big cost difference between the two, so you have to decide if you want to pay more for wheels made in Japan vs. China. You can get new 16x7 wheels on ebay for less than half what new Panasports will cost. When I bought my Panasports, there were no cheap 16x7 knockoffs. Now, Panasports are getting hard to find due to the huge price gap.
  5. I did notice the problem was solved, but I have only checked-in a few times in the past week. Now that all the cool kids are here, I'm done there.

Sounds like a fun process. And what's wrong with rolled-on paint? They didn't have rollers in the 70's?
  7. My dad owns two DeLoreans. He is the original owner of one and just bought the second one with a VIN only 28 away from his first car. I have worked on the car quite a bit over the years and it usually isn't fun. It's not a terrible early 80's car, but it's not great either. Even when new, it wasn't quick compared to other early 80's cars - and that's not saying much. The engine is a PRV which is a Peaugeot, Renault, Volvo joint effort. It was put into cars from all three companies. Since Darbji isn't around any more, does that make ME the resident DeLorean expert?
  8. Last one to leave needs to turn out the lights. Welcome to the LIGHT side.

Welcome Blue! Now that you and Tony are here along with comrade YORGO, I think I can officially retire from zc.c. It's been a good ride over there, but there really isn't any reason to check in anymore. BTW, why is Z E R O still posting over there? I agree that there is a ton of great information there. Too bad there is also a lot of misinformation in the archives.

You will always be Y0RGO to me, but I guess I can get used to the old way of doing it. YORGO (never Yorgo BTW!) only bothered the truly clueless over on zc.c. Welcome YORGO!

For those who don't know John, he's great to deal with. I run his Autopal H4 lights on my endurance racer Z.

After close to 14 years, I'm pretty much done there. As for the dregs coming here, I doubt that will happen as long as zc.c still exists. They are simply too stupid to figure out we all left.

I love the new VTO wheels that look like the old Libres.
  14. Those look very cool H3nry.

The crank pulley bolt has a 27mm head.
  16. We still love your carbs Bruce.

Can someone please measure a typical aftermarket wheel shank-style lugnut diameter? I am in search of lugnuts for typical 14x6 slot mags and I need the shank diameter. I can remove a wheel tonight at home, but I really need the info right away. I used to be able to buy them easily, but lately they are really hard to find and when I do find them, they are the wrong length or diameter. Thanks in advance.
  18. Now that I think about it, you might be right. And I too had JUST sent in my 2-year renewal when they went belly up. I'd have to go back and look at the magazines, but I think Marc was part of the Z Car and Classic Datsuns, not the original Z Car Magazine. ZC&CD is the one that took the money and ran. :disappoin
  19. Not to derail this great discussion, but what ever happened to Marc? I too haven't heard his name since the IZCC mailing list days. From what I remember the heavy contributors back then were Marc Sayer, Don Vickrey, and of course Carl Beck. I remember that Don sold his Z 10+ years ago. Anybody hear from him?

I'm glad to see you here John. Hopefully Blue even Y0RGO will follow. Tony doesn't post here for some reason. Not sure why. I've been on zcar.com since the early days and it's just a matter of time before I say goodbye there for good.
  21. Just don't get a HAMMER by mistake. That would HURT! :tapemouth
  22. Now THAT'S funny.
  23. A quick search tells me that the Hammer will do 185 MPH. http://www.fantasycars.com/sedans/HTML/mercedes_300e_amg_hammer_w124.html A second site says 190 MPH http://auto-specs.zercustoms.com/M/Mercedes-AMG/1988-mercedes-benz-300-e-amg-hammer-specifications.html
  24. For metric fasteners, the 1.5 is the distance per thread in millimeters. If you measure from one thread peak to the next peak of an M16x1.5 bolt, it will be 1.5mm across. Because the distance is small, it's easiest to measure 10 threads and divide. 10 threads = 15mm = 1.5 pitch. SAE threads are measured differently. The pitch is threads per inch. A 1/4-20 bolt will have 20 threads in one inch.

Start with 1/2 lb of ground sirloin and mix in a few teaspoons of brown sugar and some seasonings to your liking. Hand form a patty 1" thick and grill at ~425 for 6 minutes per side.
