  1. I am about to swap from my stock cam to a performance cam and I have a question. In order to pull the cam, I need to move the fuel rail out of the way as it wraps around the head and blocks the cam from sliding out the front of the towers. Since the injector hoses are so short and they are clamped on, I don't see an easy way to get the rail out of the way without disturbing the injectors. Anybody have a trick that will save me time?
  2. Welcome. Start by reading everything on this site http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/ Next, download the Factory Service Manual (FSM) here http://www.xenons30.com/index.html Finally, read every post you can find on this site.
  3. It looks like a photo of Hot Wheels cars positioned on a limestone driveway. Those rocks are really cool. Thanks for the pictures Arne. Your drive looks like a lot of fun!
  4. Aww crap. Sorry about the bad info. I forgot that the 240 pistons are flat and that the CR is higher than in a 280.
  5. You guys suck. Even if we had roads worth driving on, there aren't enough Z cars in my area to bother. It would be ME driving around for two days on straight, bumpy roads. Someday I will have the time and money to drive across the country so I can actually see other Z cars in person.
  6. Only if used in conjunction with flat top pistons from a '81-'83 ZX. If an E-88 is installed on an F54 block for example ('81-'83 ZX), it would net around 10:1 CR.
  7. If all else is stock, you should have 8.3:1 CR. If the head has been milled it will be slightly higher.
  8. I agree and do use it myself, I just go lightly and keep it off of the crush washer so there is a good ground path. I was just throwing it out there because too many people think more is better.
  9. Close KTM, but you use the '84 300ZX non-Turbo rotors. The turbo rotors are five lug.
  10. The weather is starting to turn here, but the roads are still salt-covered after last week's snow. I haven't uncovered my Z yet. If the weather looks good, I'll roll it out of the corner this week and start my planned upgrades.
  11. I have been told to be very careful with anti-seize on spark plugs. The plugs need to have a good ground path to the head and anti-seize acts as an insulator. It can and will cause misfires. We had a Viper in our shop that was running like crap. Turned out to be anti-seize on the plugs. Once they were removed and everything was cleaned, the car ran very well.
  12. I have also noticed that prices seem to be down this year. I just watched a '68 Shelby GT500 numbers matching in beautiful condition sell for $100k. Granted, this is Florida and not Scotsdale, but I think it would have brought $150+ a year or two ago.
  13. Great job Arne. It's interesting that we only have 99 pins from 18,258 members. Even if we have only 1000 active members, we're still only at 10%.
  14. Jim, I believe that tire availability is the key. I gave up on 14" wheels and skipped over 15" wheels as well due to dwindling availability of quality tires. While there are still some 15" tires in the proper sizes, the selections are getting thinner by the day particularly in performance summer compounds. I went with tried and true Panasports in 16x7, but there are many cheaper choices that bolt right up. If you like the flat face look of modern wheels, you could go with Honda wheels and use spacers to correct the offset and bolt pattern. If you choose 16" wheels, there are TONS of quality tires in any style you need. I went with an ultra high-performance summer tire from Hankook and love them. Don't let the name fool you. Hankook currently has the most modern equipment in the industry and they make very high quality tires. They have tons of grip and are inexpensive. Here is a gratuitous picture
  15. Like the new wheels Enigma. The brown/gold looks cool together.
  16. Looks to be more of a Pantera GTS shape with the notch window, upswinging (is that a word?) lower quarters and big wing. Whatever it is, it UGLY! U-G... U-G... U-G-L-Y, you ugly, you ugly, oh me oh my.
  17. Wow! That's a bunch! I am lucky to see a parts car on CL every few months.
  18. It's on right now - Saturday until 7pm EDT http://www.ustream.tv/channel/24-hour-lemons-south It's actually pretty cool to watch and has live interaction with cameraman and viewers.
  19. Here in metro Detoit, I have seen maybe three S30 Z cars on the road since moving here 15 years ago. What does surprise me is that when we have a Nissan/Infiniti show, several S30s always show up that I had never seen before. The cars are out there, but we don't have that much nice weather or good enough roads for people to put lots of miles on their cars.
  20. Nice tone. I'd guess it has triple Webers/Mikunis from the sounds of it.
  21. Hmmm, I have the exact opposite opinion. I am 6'-1" 190 and fit great in the S2000. I also think it's way more driveable than the RX-8. I had an RX-8 on a track and I didn't fit AT ALL. I needed 3+ more inches of headroom with my helmet. I couldn't even drive it, I was so cramped. My head was sideways and was still smashed against the roof. On the street, I don't want to have to abuse the car to keep up with old women in Buicks. I like a car that revs, I just don't want to be forced to beat the crap out of it 100% of the time. The S2000 drives just like a Civic below 6k - Not a ton of power, but enough to get around.
  22. Have you actually driven an RX-8? While it handles and brakes great, it has NO guts. I've never driven a more pathetic street car. The Honda S2000 feels like a big block compared to the RX-8.
  23. Thanks again. It's been running for about 20 minutes now.
  24. Thanks Jon. One more question out of curiosity - If I run the Symantec revomal client, will it tell me if Conficker was there?
