  1. One extra thing I forgot to mention. I have seat upholstery new in the box. Best I remember......it is the same as these. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-Seat-Upholstery-Kit_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6755QQihZ019QQitemZ290196573126QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW If interested....just email me. Will gladly send pics.
  2. Hey...no offense taken. I have already beat myself to death over this decision......so at this point, I'm pretty numb on the subject. As for pricing, I have already gotten some email inquiries on specific parts. The emails came before the thread replies, so I will be fair and try to respond to those in some sort of order. Once again.....feel free to email me at: jvoncanon@gmail.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Somebody was asking about glass. The windshield is not salvageable, but the rest of the glass is intact.
  3. Ok...will make this short. I have a 1972 240z....the one that initially got me hooked on this site. Well, time and money constraints have helped me to arrive to the conclusion that......it ain't gonna happen. The project has been on hold for months, and it looks like the final cost after sheet metal repairs etc. would put me way beyond what it would have cost me to purchase a solid car from the start. You have heard it here a million times before....and it's true. Start with a structurally sound car to begin with. Upholstery and engine can always be remedied, but the most important thing is a good solid base. Anyway, I am getting ready to part it. I am unsure which route I will take as of yet.....whether it will be Ebay, or just local. I will also be selling the 260 parts car. If any of you are looking for particulars....you are welcome to email me at: jvoncanon@gmail.com. I have a few extras such as the aluminum Bob Sharp 4 barrel intake. The engine is from a 71 and has the E31 head. All of this is located in North Carolina. My AOL AIM user name is rcademaker if you catch me online. Take care everybody......I'm gonna go cry now. :disappoin

  6. http://www.usroads.com/journals/rmj/9705/rm970503.htm Hey....found this. Has some information about the whistles at the bottom. Don't sound too promising. Take care.
  7. Conversations with Carl reminded me a lot of conversations with my father. Don't ask a question, and expect a sympathetic answer. Answers were always straight shots that may make your day, or rub you the wrong way if you were the sensitive type. Did not know Carl well, other than some conversing with him through this site. He seemed to be a "what you see is was you get" kind of fella. I admired that. Rest In Peace Carl. You will be missed.
  8. Yes and Yes. If that's the car you speak of pictured in your gallery.....looks like a keeper to me. Good luck with your decision.
  9. My father has a Model A Ford. We recently had to flush the tank because a lead additive had be added in the past. Evidently some additives settle/separate if left standing for a time. Was a real clogger.

OK.......what in the world is keeping you guys from submitting to this contest. My submission was strictly for humor, and besides, my car is totally dismantled and looking ugly at the moment. I know for a fact that a large portion of the members of this site have some slick look'n rides that they could submit, along with the significant other. Heck, tell the significant other they can wear a parka and sunglasses, who cares. Pull that car out of the garage, stick an old 8 x10 glossy of her on the windshield, and take a picture. After all that work you put into the car.......show it off. I know its sunny and warm in NC today, perfect day for a good picture here. There are a few nice pics already posted, but there should be many by now. Go here : http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=3300 Click on the upload photos button at the top right......can't get easier than that.

Thanks for the heads up.....I wanna check that one out.:classic:
  19. 2300 miles? And you say the gas will cost you more than the initial $250 spent, plus food, possible lodging, not to mention the possibility of an accident doing all that driving. If the seller misrepresented the car, I don't know how you could be bound to the purchase. Otherwise, I would look into having somebody else haul it for you. Tabulate what you think the total cost will be just getting it home, then see what you could purchase closer to home for that amount, in possibly better condition. Hopefully the car is in ok shape, but I wonder how long that windshield has been out, and what the weather has done to an already rust prone car. I myself am in the process of trying to revive a fairly rusty car. I can surely say that in my opinion, finding a good solid chassis is your best bet when beginning a restoration project, particularly if you are already questioning a $250 dollar purchase. Like MikeW mentioned.....have someone local check it out for ya. Hope all goes well.
  20. All thumbs up here. Thanks Mike.
  21. The way I interpreted this quote was that I need to be concerned with a shifter alignment issue. From what you are saying, this would not be a problem since the 1972 was already large enough. I would surely not get in a battle of who knows what with you over this. All I was concerned with was understanding exactly what he was speaking of so that I could avoid a potential problem. I am well aware of the year differences between my chassis and engine/transmission. That is why I listed it on my signature the way I did. As a matter of fact, one of my first posts to this forum was an inquiry on the difference in numbers on the wheel well plate, and the actual engine. I feel sure the engine and transmission were in fact removed from an earlier car, and placed as a pair in mine. Just thought from the pic I attached that it was obvious that there was no alignment issue. Curtis may have thought that I planned to place this set-up into a different chassis, and was preventing me from running into a headache down the road. In the end, the hole looks factory to me, regardless....it is plenty big enough. To all that responded to this thread.....many thanks. Should finish engine removal this evening if all goes well.
  22. As you can see from the picture, there have been no modifications to the transmission tunnel, and the transmission is being taken out....not put in. As stated earlier, everything fit perfectly, boot, center console, everthing. Either my body plate is mistaken, or the need for modification is a myth.:paranoid:
  23. No plans at the moment to swap transmission, just pulling drivetrain out as one unit to allow engine compartment and underbody work.
  24. Please elaborate on the shifter hole alignment issue. Everything seemed to be cool with the way the shifter aligned with the boot etc. when entering the cockpit. Am I misunderstanding you? Whatchu talk'n bout Willis?
  25. Good deal. Will remove A. Was just worried that the rest sticking up might not clear, but will find out soon enough. Thanks again.
