  1. I just put these on my 75 280. I'm very impressed with them, but size is 20560R14 so you might need to look elsewhere. http://www.yokohamatire.com/TireIntro.asp?TireID=9
  2. Cool, glad to help.
  3. The negative side of the coil should hook up to the #1 terminal on the ECU. If you have a signal generator hook it up to the #1 wire at the ECU side 35 pin connector and trace it out. If not you'll have to ohm it out and see where the wire goes. (unhook battery first just in case). When battery hooked up and the ignition set to "on" you should have battery voltage between #1 terminal and chassis. Hope this helps. And Tomohawk is right the negative side of the coil sends rpm info to both the tachometer and the ECU, so maybe the ECU picks up from the Tachometer connector. Don't know for sure. Good luck.

Ok all you Aussies(and Kiwi's maybe) Since all Aus Z's had the smaller bumpers (240 style) for all years 70-78, can you guys find these bumper with great regularity at junkyards or even for sale in local classifieds easily? Did the mounting brackets change from year to year? Is there a mounting bracket used in the later years that used similar mounting places (on frame) to the 280z bumpers in the USA? i.e. same mounting location but with only a bracket instead of the 5mph shocks used here. Thanks.
  6. That all makes perfect sense. Thanks for your input.
  7. OK?.... Bambikiller240=Is your only issue with the seller's shipping cost? Do you think the idea or purpose of the product is viable? hls30.com= So you're vote is No Merit, right? ezzzzzzz= So you think there is value to the products intent, but suggest a homemade variation. Perhaps I should have elaborated more. I apoligize, let me do so now. I have a 75 280Z and was wondering if the ECU, being 30 years old, might need a little insurance from surges and errant voltages or currents in the electrical system. I am not looking at this product as some type of performance mod or a magical doohickymaabob. Only as a source of additional security from above stated problems (surges). Having said that, if there is some value to ensuring a good ground then I would make my own custom setup like ezzzzzz suggests and not send money out to a guy for some Nismo stickers and some wire. So the question as I should have originally posted, again sorry, is...Is a Poor ground a real threat to system or does the existing Datsun wiring harness do an adequate job of protecting it's parts? Thanks.
  8. I know grounding kits have been covered before, but does this one with the "stabilizer" have any merit? I would think it is a sort of surge suppressor and it makes sense to me that it would be a benefit. But then again I'm not an eletrical/electronic guru. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33574&item=7963517651&rd=1 Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

I know this thread is a couple months old, but since I am also considering removing my bumpers, I thought I would chime in with another question. Isn't it true that the Z cars ride low enough that the likelyhood of actually making bumper to bumper contact is not very high. I live in colorado and let me tell you it is SUV and truck heaven. It's hard for me to see the safety side of having the bumpers installed, at least the front. If I think I'm about to hit the car in front of me I will hopefully be on the brakes, which, providing there is any kind of traction, will cause the nose(and thus the bumper) to dive even lower. The rear bumper may be more practicle since the car behind will be the one with the diving frontend. All this being said I only plan on driving my Z on pristine days with no chance of adverse weather, hopefully reducing my chances of being in an accident. Now as far as the legal aspect, I hadn't even considered that. I guess i will have to look it up and see. Here is a link to a local 240Z that met a nasty end. Don't think the bumpers did much. I know it is an extreme example but it looks to me that the car was impacted well above the bumper line. http://www.klode.com/Kws/Napplications/display_pics.aspx?Stockid=722551&Exit=Close

Is it over?................Can I just say nice pics Zguitar!.........OK all yours.
  11. Chris that interior pic is very similar to mine. I'll get some pics posted on Monday.
  12. Where are the prices on the american racing website? Was wondering about the slots price for 15x7
  13. I'll get some pics posted up soon of the interior and let the experts see and decide.
  14. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you all. As you guys have already discussed, it is indeed a 280, FI and all. Thanks for the suggestions on the photo posting, will definitely come in handy. Bravo- Yeah gotta love bronze!! I have never been too big on brown cars, especially sportscars, but this color is absolutely Beautiful. As far as mods go, I'm not real sure. We won't be moving into a house until fall/winter this year so I won't be doing anything in the near future anyways. The car is real clean. The interior is even nicer than the body. Very well maintained, everything works, including radio and power antenna, heat and A/C. The upholstery is perfect, but I believe is aftermarket. My 260 had vinyl seats and I'm not sure if any other option was available in 75. This one has a velour type cloth on the seats and the door panels. Looks nice though. I have 14" wheels with bias-ply tires on right now I MAY put some radials on there but not sure if there will be any sacrifice to ride quality with them. So I guess I'm torn. Part of me wants to put in an aftermarket stereo with more than one speaker and maybe some performance mods to the engine. but like I said it is all really nice now so probably not. The biggest thing that I would want to change is the bumpers, but it's kinda hard to justify screwing with a clean original car.
  15. Ohh I just did resize..... :stupid: :stupid: Thanks
