Original seat cover option?
Another newb question: Although I havent had a chance to look yet (just got the car and I'm so swamped at work I cant even get free to register the car! ARGH!), when did they stop using the seat support straps and got to a more fixed base (springs?). When I sit in mine, the seats feel awefully sunken. I dont remember my 260 seats feeling that way.

Not enough clutch adjustment
Well, I did learn one thing, it's much easier to crawl under the dash after diner and a small cocktail, rather than first thing in the morning! Pedal and linkage are tight as a drum. Thinking to check the fluid level, when I pulled the cap off, the hydraulic fluid looked like... pond water, muddy pond water. The PO drove this car very rarely, and lord only knows when or if the fluid has ever been changed. It it possible that the fluid has picked up enough moisture over the years that it is losing it's "strength"?

Not enough clutch adjustment
I've got a similar situation (me thinks): Clutch grabs strong but the pedal is damned near on the floor before fully engaged. I tried poking my head up under the dash to inspect the pedal pivot point/hole for wear but I cant see it (I am DEFINITELY not as limber as I used to be). Question: Are the pedals grouped as an assembly, and/or does the pedal need to be pulled in order to inspect this? Or do I just need to get my son (infinitely more limber than me) to crawl under there to see it properly?

Original seat cover option?
Hehe, I was thinking that very thing. Living in FL, the cloth might just be a better option for summertime, those seats can get might hot. Thanks to all for thier input.

Original seat cover option?
Question: I've added a link to one of my gallery photos (hope that works). My 240 has seat covers with cloth in the center section (base and back). The stitching pattern appears to be exactly as it should be (from other 240's I've seen). Was this a factory/dealer option. or are they aftermarket? The driver side cover is going to need replacing, and before I got the car I was sure I would go with the traditional all vinyl covers. However, now that I have the car, these cloth insert seats are kinda growing on me. If they're original (offered from the factory, or even at the dealer), I may consider trying to hunt one down as the passenger seat is in great shape. Anyone have any ideas on this? http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=14587&cat=500&page=1 Sorry, not the greatest angle on the photo to see the seat, but that's all I have right now.

DCP_1433
Additional Info: Wheels are 14x6 (maybe 7) Appliance Wire wheels. These are true wire wheels, not the "dish" wires that were popular back in the day (because of thier lower prices). Appliance has been out of business for quite some time, can't find much of any other info on them. These were on the car from the original owner as best I know (I am the third owner).

Finally Arrived!
Many thanks, I just uploaded some new photos into my Gallery after I gave her a bath from the long trip. The PO kept everything, original owners manual, even the dealer sales broghure. Even has a maintanence logbook. Weston is as far west Ft. Lauderdale as you can get before you are in the Everglades. It sits right at the corner of where I-75 turns west to head towards Naples, and where I-595 begins. It's about 4 hours from Tampa. It's nice to meet fellow Floridians, it is a rare site to see a 240 on this side of the state. Dunno why.

Finally Arrived!
Thx Alex. I was out this morning looking some more. I think that might be what it is, although I doesn't seem to work. Oh the fun of exploring a "new" car!

Finally Arrived!
I thought that too, at first, but it only goes bidirectionally (left/right or up/down depending on how you physically orient the switch). You can see what I mean by looking at the two arrows on the bevel - I dont know the correct orientation. The mirrors on the car, although not original, are definitely not electric.

Finally Arrived!
Started to examine the car this morning when I ran across this "mystery" switch. It's located on the center console, it's a momentary toggle (left/right or up/down depending on how it's oriented). At first I figured it must be some kindo of add on switch as it does nothing that I can tell, however when I looked at the bezel/faceplate of the switch, it looks strickingly like something from the factory. Any idea what this might be? I havent had a chance to start tracing it's wiring, probably wont for a while but I thought if it's factor someone might know. My old 260 never had anything like that, no have I seen anyone else have one. One note: THe PO put a stereo EQ in the car years ago, tucked under the original radio position, but in front of the Choke/rear defroster panel. Could it have been there originially? And if so, what is it?

Zedd Findings?
Bean, if you don't mind my asking, what did the welder charge you for this? ($)

After nearly 2 weeks in transit, my new "baby" finally arrived to much fanfare! Okay, not alot of fanfare, but we're all excited!
