I use ANPAC http://www.american-national.com/index.html They are very good with there classic car insurance. Look at there program they call CHROME. They offer mileage allowances of 7500 miles a year. They also offer insurance for cars under restoration with a true replacement value set up front.

For those that dont know we have lost the space shuttle Columbia. They are saying that they expect parts too be falling around the Dallas TX. It broke apart @ about 200,000 feet. when coming in for its landing. NASA has ordered flight controllers to pull out emergency procedures and ordered them to retain all their records. Columbia was aiming for a touch down at 9:16 a.m. A loud explosion was heard over Dallas at around the same time, NBC News’ Jim Cummins reported. It was at an altitude of 200,700 feet, traveling at 12,500 mph when mission control lost contact. There was no further communication and no further tracking data. Reporters at the landing strip were ordered away 7 minutes after the scheduled touchdown with still no sign of the shuttle. SPACE CENTER, Houston, Feb. 1 — The space shuttle Columbia exploded over central Texas on Saturday soon after reentering the atmosphere en route to a landing at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, NBC Dallas affiliate KXAS reported. Video images obtained by KXAS showed the doomed shuttle descending at a severe trajectory and breaking apart as it plummeted to Earth. Officials in Texas dispatched search and rescue teams to the town of Palestine, southwest of Waco, the presumed point of impact.
  3. Show or Go For me I am taking my sweet time on my 240Z. I have no plans of it hitting the road before its ready (done). Now this may be longer with the way things are with money now. But I am doing this car for me as a keeper with no thoughts of parting with it at any point. I know what I am doing is not seen as a good thing in the eyes of a few people. O-WELL how much fun would the world be if we all thought the same way. For doing up a car while being a driver ( I have done many ). I start with the safety things first Brakes shocks springs bushings and so on . If in doing these I find there are parts that are better or high performance that can be worked in then they are. Then driveline. After the driveline then I move on with the body and show parts. This way I don’t find myself crying over paint damage done by a miss placed wrench or falling part. Now on to the interior again held off for the dirty work and paint to be over with so nothing can get wrecked. Another reason for the paint on the tail end of my list is IMO don’t get flashy unless you can back it up. So my vote is GO then Show For the tailgater. For me I back off big time and get them past me. I can not say I have never had a (road rage) deal myself. I think we all have. But with knowing how fast things can get ugly I find myself just letting them by and going on. You are damn lucky they didnt jam the brakes. The brake set up with the Z (stock) is ok at best for the years it was new (imo) . Now put a car in front of that with antilock brakes jamming on there brakes. NO CHANCE :dead:

All good advice. If it was me in this little game. I would call him back and tell him that I would like to know if he has the other offer. Then tell him you have a line on another car and would like to be fair about your offer with him before you spend your money with another seller. If he says the other offer isnt in yet give him some kind of time line that you need to know by. Doing this will turn the heat up on the seller and the other person that is looking at buying it. If there is another person. GAME ON

  7. I had the old school 70s chrome side pipes. 3" pipe no clearance. baron, That looks damn nice. I was wondering about the pipe size and and the brackets. I would like to copy your set up with it being proven for clearance.
  8. Yes, I have used them. It was on my vette not the Z. I dont think you would like them on your Z. The look and sound is hot. The down side is BURNS. On the set up there he dosnt even have heat gaurds :stupid: My ex has a scar from the burn off my vette pipes and they had heat gaurds. The other down side is ground clearance. With a Z you wont have any. Just call um speedbump grinders. I have plans on mine of running the pipes under the car but putting the ex tips out just in front of the rear wheels. We will see when I get that far. Along way off yet.... :sleepy:
  9. If they want it they will get it. Its that easy. The best anti theft thing I have used is a brake lock. This is like a club for your wheel but it gose from the brake pedal too the floor. It makes it so the brake pedal cant be used. On my corvette I used it on the clutch pedal. Put this on with an alarm and sleep easy. There is nothing you can do if they want it bad enough. But every little thing you do that will slow them down will make them think twice before they try. Another thing I did with my vette was a gas cut off. I put it just before the carb on the gas line. Low cost and works good. You could maybe make it out of the parking space before it was dead. One last easy one. If you are going to use a after market tach. buy one with a rev limiter. You can set the tach so it cuts the spark at the rpm you set it at. Mark the dial where you need it for use. When you park the car turn the dial down all the way. The car may start but it wont get over 1000 RPM.

The dealership I worked for in Las Vegas did this. They had a company that came out and etched the windows on our stock. Now this was two years ago. At that time they used a little keypad palm pilot that would print the tape that had the numbers and letters on it. Then stick the tape on the glass and wipe the acid over the tape let it sit for a few sec. and clean glass. They where very easy clean and small. I am not sure how they could do the lettering and numbers theres so many just for one car. But who knows. If somone knows please post it.
  11. There are so many places for rust on Zs. I think the list is endless other then saying the whole car can rust out from under you. This is just a small part of where rust hides on the Z car. One of the first things you can look at easy is the front frame rails. From the front bumper too the firewall. If you see ANY rust here plan on new frame rails or keep on looking. This may just be me on keep looking. But I have torn the frame (when removing the front bumper mounts) on cars that didn’t show much but little rust bubbles in the paint. Another one that can cost you a lot of money . Take a knife and pull back the lower edges of the rubber on the windshield in the corners If you see rust in here. Again I would just walk away . This is the point of the car that should not have any rust for safety reasons. Most of the cars I have seen with any rust here has very deep rust ( from the inside out). This means that the point that links the roof too the firewall is bad and very weak. It also is not a easy or cheap fix. If the car is a driver I would find a shop with a lift and swing in on the test drive. It should not cost you much of anything. But I would never buy a Z for a driver without getting under it for a good look first. You should take some time and look back in the site. There are so many posts on rust you could read for well maybe days. :tapemouth

This is not hard. They sell kits now that are starting around $150 US. It comes with the new latches and micro switchs that you mount where ever you want. Most ppl hide them under the car. Now the switches are just a back up. Most kits now use remote keychains like an alarm. The way it works is you mount solenoids and actuators. When you hit the remote or switch they act much like a spring that kicks or pops the doors open. Downside. A dead batt. can and will lock you out of your car.

Almost any sign shop sould be able too make what you want. The more colors you use the more you will spend.

Park bench I love it. I dont care much for the 350 anyway. I am looking to see what the HP numbers are in the aftermarket world of the 350Z. I do wish that somone would make up a 350Z just for HP. But I think we all know they cant (wont) make a sleeper 350Z with the way the aftermarket world works now days. This is why I am stuck looking at the cars with the body kits and thinking maybe theres more there then a bunch of stick on plastic wings and body kits. Just a Z guy wondering what the top hp #s are with this motor in the aftermarket world.

I know a few people that work at autozone and we took some time and looked up there parts listings for the early Z. I was shocked at how many parts they had listed. I would say just go in with a list of what you want and see. You will want to write down there price and part #s. Then look and see if there the best price. On ther other hand if you find the parts from a retail store it will make things easy for returns if the parts shipped are wrong. So spending alittle more on the parts retail may make life easy in the long run.

Guess my West Coast (salt free) bias is showing badly by now. Sorry. JMO Its ok. I have my shell TG. But going out looking for parts I have found so many cars just falling apart that would make a shell job nothing more then work. The bone yards around here have many 280z - zx and they dont want much for any of them as whole parts cars. But on the other side around here you just dont see rust free shells so.. I never should have moved from the west coast :tapemouth
  21. carguyinok replied to carguyinok's post in a topic in Internet Finds
That maybe true unless it grew old in vegas. If that was the case it would be a nice shell with little rust.

I have seen this in more then one. I have found that the return spring will strech over time. The linkage will also start getting hung-up with a worn\streched spring. Oil all the joints on the linkage replace the spring and see if that dose it. It cant hurt and wont cost much of anything. hope it helps.
