I am in love with my Mechanix gloves as well. But beware!!!! They may look like leather and they are NOT. I am just putting this up as a warning so no one else dose what I did. I had them on working on a buddys car one day. The motor was hot and I bumped the header. When the glove melted into my skin it was a real wake up call. Now as I said I love my Mechanix gloves and have a few pair now. One trick I found is... Buy them so they fit. Then when you get home put them in the washer then the dryer. When you get them out of the dryer the will fit tight. This helps with the feeling through the gloves. They will soon feel like a 2nd skin rather then gloves. I buy mine at sears. Mechanix makes them for sears craftsman and they sell for 19.95 and worth every dime IMO.

With the roof gone I must say I like it. BUT now there is none of the real Z car left on the body. IMO The only thing that said Nissan Z on the 350Z was the rear 1\4 glass. :beard:
  3. O-man THANK YOU I NEEDED THAT. o yah kmack. whats your phone number? LMAO

(Ahh yes, the donut shop jab. How original . Why not just go ahead and do the Barney comparison--you know you wanna. Before you start blaming the cops for all the problems in the world, just consider that there might be some Po-leece that drive Z's and are members of this board.) Now I will stand up and say I dont judge anyone for what they do for there job but only on what they DO and how they ACT. If your a cop and act as a power tripped azzhole then yah you will fall in under donut munching jerk. But there are lots of police out there that do care and do a job that most people dont want for very little money. I just hate the fact that they are going overboard with the amount of police around here. With such a large force they are almost fighting each other for the tickets and busts in order to make there numbers for the end of the month. You dont even wana think about going on the roads @ the end of the year around here.

Oh...the sale price is 50% of receipts.... Take some time and ask anyone who dose street rods. Receipts dont mean JACK for anything but being able to prove the cost in the fight with your insurance company and crying over at the time of sale. Not saying its not a nice car it is. The thing is they could toss out 50k in receipts and still only have a 10K car. Thats the thing with custom cars. I like that car alot but IMO it will be lucky to pull 9K But thats just from looking at photos. I am happy ta see that I am not the only one that fills the sidemarker lights.:classic:

Anybody have any other solutions? Its called fuel Injection Sorry I had to. I know a few people that have spent what seems like days on the linkage. One of them had found that the return spring\springs where way to strong. He put new springs on that where not wound as tight and it helped. (note I said helped not fixed) But when dealing with 30+ year old plastic parts helped maybe worth it. VS, broken linkage. :tapemouth

Around here N.E. Oklahoma ( on the line of three states ) Most of the towns make ends meet with traffic tickets. Around here they go as far as road blocks ( I hit about one every two weeks ) The police pick a spot that you cant get around and set up shop. Late at night with no lights on until you are on top of them. Then they turn on the lights and put you through the paces and ticket you on what ever they can. I am a safe driver with a good record and spend at least one day every two months in court because of trumped up tickets. They see out of state plates and start drooling. They know if they ticket a person from out of state that the chance of them just paying rather then fighting it are grater then ticketing a person that lives there. Now there are also towns near here that have had enough people put up big enough fights with the courts. Because of these fights there are three small towns that have had the courts take away the power of the police to write traffic tickets. There are so many police around here its NUTS. We have about 10,000 people ( that number is going down.) The city police dept. has 10 marked cars and 25 unmarked. There is the sheriffs dept. with 20 marked cars trucks and SUVs with another 25 unmarked. Another is the FBI who has a office here with 6 cars. Then there is the OSBI Oklahoma state bureau of investigations 5 cars. Highway patrol has 6 cars (in town). Now you would think around 80 some odd units would do for 10,000 people. NOT HERE I have not even started with the Indian police depts.. We have 6 or 7 tribes here. Every tribe has there own police dept. with 4 – 8 cars each. Oh yah almost forgot I live one block from the collage and they have there own police force with 3 cars. Now this list is just for my town of 10,000 people. They wonder why our town is going broke. Other then the ford dealership that sells them the cars. Sorry just pissed about the ticket I got this morning. Now I have court in two weeks. AGAIN. This time for window tint. I would not be so pissed but the tint on the cops windows was darker then mine. :stupid:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2401351188&category=6755 I dont know anything about this seller. I just wanted to put up a post with the LED taillight that will fit the Z I think its the 1157. They sell led lamps that can fit all the lamps on the Z front rear & side in any color. I have found that if you use the clear ( if you can find them) LED inside the stock tinted lens. It dosent look ( ricer ) just nice and bright. I cant say i have used them on a Z yet. But I did use them in my vette and they are twice the lamp of the stock bulb.
  11. Not sure if its the same but.... I have seen this on another V8 Z. With the lines running on the frame rail the header was real close. He pulled the lines up just enough to slip header tape under the lines and wraped them. Another way would be a heat sheild. I would say put it on the frame not the header. Just some sheet metal bent over the lines should help. For what it would cost I would do bolth. This would be worth a try first IMO before you try moving the lines.

I use ANPAC http://www.american-national.com/index.html They are very good with there classic car insurance. Look at there program they call CHROME. They offer mileage allowances of 7500 miles a year. They also offer insurance for cars under restoration with a true replacement value set up front.

For those that dont know we have lost the space shuttle Columbia. They are saying that they expect parts too be falling around the Dallas TX. It broke apart @ about 200,000 feet. when coming in for its landing. NASA has ordered flight controllers to pull out emergency procedures and ordered them to retain all their records. Columbia was aiming for a touch down at 9:16 a.m. A loud explosion was heard over Dallas at around the same time, NBC News’ Jim Cummins reported. It was at an altitude of 200,700 feet, traveling at 12,500 mph when mission control lost contact. There was no further communication and no further tracking data. Reporters at the landing strip were ordered away 7 minutes after the scheduled touchdown with still no sign of the shuttle. SPACE CENTER, Houston, Feb. 1 — The space shuttle Columbia exploded over central Texas on Saturday soon after reentering the atmosphere en route to a landing at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, NBC Dallas affiliate KXAS reported. Video images obtained by KXAS showed the doomed shuttle descending at a severe trajectory and breaking apart as it plummeted to Earth. Officials in Texas dispatched search and rescue teams to the town of Palestine, southwest of Waco, the presumed point of impact.
  14. Show or Go For me I am taking my sweet time on my 240Z. I have no plans of it hitting the road before its ready (done). Now this may be longer with the way things are with money now. But I am doing this car for me as a keeper with no thoughts of parting with it at any point. I know what I am doing is not seen as a good thing in the eyes of a few people. O-WELL how much fun would the world be if we all thought the same way. For doing up a car while being a driver ( I have done many ). I start with the safety things first Brakes shocks springs bushings and so on . If in doing these I find there are parts that are better or high performance that can be worked in then they are. Then driveline. After the driveline then I move on with the body and show parts. This way I don’t find myself crying over paint damage done by a miss placed wrench or falling part. Now on to the interior again held off for the dirty work and paint to be over with so nothing can get wrecked. Another reason for the paint on the tail end of my list is IMO don’t get flashy unless you can back it up. So my vote is GO then Show For the tailgater. For me I back off big time and get them past me. I can not say I have never had a (road rage) deal myself. I think we all have. But with knowing how fast things can get ugly I find myself just letting them by and going on. You are damn lucky they didnt jam the brakes. The brake set up with the Z (stock) is ok at best for the years it was new (imo) . Now put a car in front of that with antilock brakes jamming on there brakes. NO CHANCE :dead:

All good advice. If it was me in this little game. I would call him back and tell him that I would like to know if he has the other offer. Then tell him you have a line on another car and would like to be fair about your offer with him before you spend your money with another seller. If he says the other offer isnt in yet give him some kind of time line that you need to know by. Doing this will turn the heat up on the seller and the other person that is looking at buying it. If there is another person. GAME ON
  17. I had the old school 70s chrome side pipes. 3" pipe no clearance. baron, That looks damn nice. I was wondering about the pipe size and and the brackets. I would like to copy your set up with it being proven for clearance.
  18. Yes, I have used them. It was on my vette not the Z. I dont think you would like them on your Z. The look and sound is hot. The down side is BURNS. On the set up there he dosnt even have heat gaurds :stupid: My ex has a scar from the burn off my vette pipes and they had heat gaurds. The other down side is ground clearance. With a Z you wont have any. Just call um speedbump grinders. I have plans on mine of running the pipes under the car but putting the ex tips out just in front of the rear wheels. We will see when I get that far. Along way off yet.... :sleepy:
  19. If they want it they will get it. Its that easy. The best anti theft thing I have used is a brake lock. This is like a club for your wheel but it gose from the brake pedal too the floor. It makes it so the brake pedal cant be used. On my corvette I used it on the clutch pedal. Put this on with an alarm and sleep easy. There is nothing you can do if they want it bad enough. But every little thing you do that will slow them down will make them think twice before they try. Another thing I did with my vette was a gas cut off. I put it just before the carb on the gas line. Low cost and works good. You could maybe make it out of the parking space before it was dead. One last easy one. If you are going to use a after market tach. buy one with a rev limiter. You can set the tach so it cuts the spark at the rpm you set it at. Mark the dial where you need it for use. When you park the car turn the dial down all the way. The car may start but it wont get over 1000 RPM.

The dealership I worked for in Las Vegas did this. They had a company that came out and etched the windows on our stock. Now this was two years ago. At that time they used a little keypad palm pilot that would print the tape that had the numbers and letters on it. Then stick the tape on the glass and wipe the acid over the tape let it sit for a few sec. and clean glass. They where very easy clean and small. I am not sure how they could do the lettering and numbers theres so many just for one car. But who knows. If somone knows please post it.
  21. There are so many places for rust on Zs. I think the list is endless other then saying the whole car can rust out from under you. This is just a small part of where rust hides on the Z car. One of the first things you can look at easy is the front frame rails. From the front bumper too the firewall. If you see ANY rust here plan on new frame rails or keep on looking. This may just be me on keep looking. But I have torn the frame (when removing the front bumper mounts) on cars that didn’t show much but little rust bubbles in the paint. Another one that can cost you a lot of money . Take a knife and pull back the lower edges of the rubber on the windshield in the corners If you see rust in here. Again I would just walk away . This is the point of the car that should not have any rust for safety reasons. Most of the cars I have seen with any rust here has very deep rust ( from the inside out). This means that the point that links the roof too the firewall is bad and very weak. It also is not a easy or cheap fix. If the car is a driver I would find a shop with a lift and swing in on the test drive. It should not cost you much of anything. But I would never buy a Z for a driver without getting under it for a good look first. You should take some time and look back in the site. There are so many posts on rust you could read for well maybe days. :tapemouth

This is not hard. They sell kits now that are starting around $150 US. It comes with the new latches and micro switchs that you mount where ever you want. Most ppl hide them under the car. Now the switches are just a back up. Most kits now use remote keychains like an alarm. The way it works is you mount solenoids and actuators. When you hit the remote or switch they act much like a spring that kicks or pops the doors open. Downside. A dead batt. can and will lock you out of your car.
