Whats under your hood? There has been alot of talk about the best combo. But wonder how many Z's we have here that are pure ( the way they came from the dealer) VS. Done up with Nissan combos or V-8 power? There are so many combos out there so I just put some gen. mods on the poll. If you wish please list your mods.

Yes they can be (cleaned). I have never done this. There are shops that can clean then seal the inside of your tank. I know there are do it yourself kits out there for sealing. But without the tank getting cleaned first I cant see it working well. I am sure there are others here that have done this and will tell you more. How this gets past the filter. The fuel filter can only filter out so much. Small parts of "tank sh!! " pass then bulid up over time. Then things get pluged up. You can buy better "finer" inline filters that will slow it down. But fixed & slowed down are not the same. P.S. I would run new fuel lines at the same time.

You will feel A diff. when pull the fan from the waterpump. The one thing you could do is buy 2 elec. fans. Use one as you where going too. Then put the other one on the front side as A pusher. You will be shocked at how much cooler your Z will run. Just make sure you cross over the + and - wires on the outside fan so the fan runs as A pusher.

There is one thing that should be done before anything. Take the tire off the wheel. You will want to paint over the bead lip into the inside of the wheel. If you dont. Your wheels will look good for A few weeks( if your lucky) Then they will start getting chips around that lip. Think of your paint as A cover. If that cover is just put on outside there will be A line where dirt and water can work under it. Now if that cover is under the tire bead it has A true seal. Atleast till you rub A curb.

I was in sam's club today and found this gauge on blow out. The gauge is not some cheap plastic thing. Its metal with A heavy rubber coating. Easy to read and holds the psi# for 10 sec. comes ready to use loaded with batteries and reads psi from 00.5 - 199.5 psi. was over $50.00 now $4.91
  11. Before going hunting around inside your dash. Have you looked under the hood? The 2 you are talking about are very easy too bump off or break.

Yes you could put A new motor in. But the chance of it working is 50/50. Most of the time its more then just that wrong. Hell its over 20 years old. You can buy A power antenna at just about any auto parts store that will fit just fine. There is tons of room in there and the new ones today run much faster and fluid like with far less noise.

A 73Z and A boxer. Are you trying ta copy me? I cant say enough about boxers.
  14. I hope to have it home tomorrow and get A better look. The way it looked from the outside was good & solid. But we all know that can change by looking inside. I will let you know.
  15. The main reason for getting it was the interior. All black with door panals roof & rear hatch plastic crack free and all the vinal for the wheel wells & center console sides are tear free:devious: I dont need any of the drive line parts. But thats not saying I am just gona blow um off. Stock A/C set-up anyone? How about the auto trans with the good center console for the auto. Make me an offer.

  18. I was going down A road about 20 miles from my house that I had never been on before. Out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw A Z. I stoped my truck backed up and there it was. I didnt even look @ it close. I just went in the shop it was sitting near and asked if it was for sale. The owner said $150.00 and shes yours. Needless to say I took it. Going to pick it up tomorrow. But get this. date 03-73 car# HLS30-150000 automatic with stock A\C. I took it in order to have A parts car for my 73 date 10/72. We will see if The rust is real deep. If not deep it may just get sealed up and set aside till this one is done. I maybe busy for A long time :stupid:
  19. I cant say forsure about nissan. But with what I have used its not like A metal rivet. Where you pull till the center pops off. With these you place it in the hole then push the center in till flush with the head. At that point it locks in place.

I have AAA gold & cell. I had the same thought till stuck with A flat no signal for the phone. hooked A ride called AAA and 2 hours later A stinger tow truck shows. That wont work with my car because it was too low and needed a flatbed tow. @ that point I told myself that will never happen to me again. spare or run flats 4 me.
  21. http://www.classicdatsun.com/ Here they sell all the plastic for the rear hatch and more. Not cheap but new in any color. I cant see them not able to get them.

(I'm going to cut out the spare tire well and weld in a box where it and the gas tank was. Mounting it above is more dangerous spill wise in a bad collision and it raises the center of gravity.) As far as dangerous not true. With the fuel cell sold in summit & jegs there made SFI certified with that they have A foam liner. With proper vents they can not spill. The center of gravity will change with the top mount. But if you want this for the street aswell where are you putting A spare tire? I would hate to leave my baby on the side of A road (after all this $ & work) for A flat. But thats just my .02 on it.:tapemouth
