Jag rearend
I dont see it as cheap. But I think you also need to keep in mind what the cost of A corvette irs + the headache of mounting the disc brake. This just looks like one nice/neat set-up. On the cost so far online I have found them starting @ $1200.00 I can do better I am sure.

Jag rearend
Has anyone looked into A jag rear end ? I had A buddy over talking about doing A disc set up on the rear of my Z. He asked if I had looked into the jag irs rearend. After looking this over I think this may be the ticket. With the v-8 going in this will hold the HP. and look @ where the brakes are at.

Flared Z at junkyard...
Thats the kit I saw in the boneyard in vegas. You are 100% on with the square headlights. They look nasty. The kit looked like it COULD have been nice. But this one looked like they glued in on and took the car in for A $99.95 paint job.:disappoin DAMN Z KILLERS!!!!!!!!!!:dead:

Stripping and repainting
First on the rear 1\4 glass. There are four screws two on top two lower. If you have rust these are not going to be fun. I would say grind or drill the heads off the screws. Pull the glass out then deal with that rust. The glass will come out easy frame and all as one. I will put A photo in for you. Front 1\4's PULL THEM. here. http://www.240z.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3077 Read this it will help. Black. Please think about what you want. The darker the color the more flaws in the body pop out. You will also want A carwash at your house. Black shows dirt and dust more then any other color. But A Z in black would look good.

Flared Z at junkyard...
I have seen the same body kit. But I saw this one at A junkyard in Las Vegas. Hmmm this may tell us something about this kit.

Datsun Scarab Info
I have been collecting information for about 1 year now and can get most info first hand. My father and uncle were the original engine builders for Brian Scarab in the 1970's. There respective shops were back to back in Campbell, CA. Basic progression started out with Chevy 350 Crate motors, with a Warner T-10 Tranny, custom Drive line and Radiator connected to a T-Bird rear end. Some minor Suspension mods and custom motor mounts were fabricated as well. Later versions of the engine were more performance oriented and included up to a Twin Turbo 280z clocked at well over 170 mph in So. CA. The Scarab car was either custom built (the owner supplied the car to Brian for Mods) or a kit could be purchased for self-modification. Hope this helps. Good luck. -Andy Tencati

Datsun Scarab Info
From what I understand scarab was for the most part A mailorder kit. If I am wrong sorry this is just what I have been told by many people. If that is the case you wont find any kind of production #s.

pulled front fenders
Thank you for the note on the drain tube. I will be doing the same. The welding I was talking about was on the top seam and the lower frame rails. I dont think that the welding on the top seam would do much as far as making it stronger. But I cant help think that it would help them hold up over time. Better then the stock pinch welds. The caulking & tape parts. I went out and took photos of each side so I could look back and see what was done where. But thanks for the heads up on the truck camper tape. Now thats thinking. I was talking with my body guy today and I think we are going to sandblast the whole front just to be sure it's 100% clean then give it A coat of paint (stock black ). Thanks again.

Thank You. That was what I thought. I just wanted to be sure.

pulled front fenders
I wish I had done this long ago. I had always thought of pulling my front fenders. I just never did this due to the fear of how hard it may be. I was wrong. Each fender took me about 15 minn. each. Wow am I A happy camper.:classic: . I do have A 90% rust free Z. I would say to anyone going deep into there Z PULL THEM. I found alot of sand and road grime in there that would have started some real rut problems. Most of this was stuck up near the frame work in the lower part of the front 1\4s just in front of the door. I did find the little surface rust dots here and there but nothing that I would worry about. I do plan on scuffing off the rust dots (size if pin heads yes surface not from the inside) and running A solid weld up the frame work. Then coat it. Is there anything I should be looking for that may not be seen very easy. I will post some photos soon.

Stainless exhaust systems for 240z
Jet coat \ cerama coat. Now I was looking @ the jet hot coat for headers on A small block chevy I have. Jet hot coat has A life time warranty covering discoloring & rust on headers they coat. I also saw that MSA offers there headers coated by them but for some reason they dont say A word about the warranty. Just thought you may want to look into this. Then have the stainless pipe bent up to run from there back.It would be cheaper then getting A header (that fit) made from stainless. P.S there coated inside & out

Honk if you drive a Z, or Where's the love?
Now as far as that gose yes I do. Or should say did when I had my 70 240. I can say that when I get my 73 on the road I will do the same. fast honk with A wave out the window. This is A brotherhood we are in and I have found the same with the corvettes. But I will say this ( dont hate me ) I dont do the same when its A zx. unless its early (round headlights) and very clean. Most ZX drivers round here are in them because it was and is A cheap driver not because of A love for the Z.
