Gears
well, for doing A drag car. Your best bet would be fab up A subframe and put A cut down solid axle with wheel tubs in. The next step down would be A corvette (c3 I think) rearend. The corvette used the same style rear with independent rear suspension and can be fit in your Z. No it wont just slip in & bolt-up. But if you are going to go V-8 for drag racing you will be putting more power to the ground @ much more hp&torque then any stock nissan rearend was ment for. Just do it rite the first time. After all the first you will need to track down the nissan rear you think you want. Blow it at the track and start looking again. Alittle more money up front will save you tons later.

Block Color
The block color is blue. now I am not sure of the color code but its alittle lighter blue then mine. This is GM block blue and it is close but not (on the money)

what do u think?
I have my swap in the works. A few years back I had the chance to put A few miles on A 71 240Z with A 327 vette motor and 4 speed. Once you feel A Z with that kind of power. You will fall in love and never look back. love @ the twist of A key.

street racing tips?
Keep it on the track & off the streets Rember if you race someone and they hurt someone else you are just as much at fault. Strang & freek things go on at high speeds that you wont want to deal with on A track. No less A city street with other people or parked cars around.:dead:

update on speed hut indiglo gauges
Now I would like A set for my 73 240. But I dont like the idea of handing over my cc# in the hopes that some day they may do there 6-8 weeks of tooling. I would need A date they will be done-billed-sent. Sorry been taken for rides by aftermarket part house ppl before and wont happen again. Get real dates & I will buy.

Truck wheels?
I had found the same talk from my tire store here. The main part of this is there are few wheel makers out there doing A wheel for A rear wheel drive car. Hell 90% of the cars made today are front wheel drive. So the rwd wheel market is for the most part is truck, van, and suv. Have your tire guy call A older (been around for years) wheel maker like american raceing wheels and see if they have some older inventory not in the new books. After this year the only rearwheel drive car made by GM will be the corvette. :disappoin

Colortune Explainations
If you have a ColorTune, you simply install it in place of one of the plugs, then adjust the carburetor that feeds that cylinder (the front carburetor for 1 & 2, the rear for 3 & 4). The ColorTune will let you see the color of the flame. White flashes mean too lean; yellow flame means too rich. Blue (like a Bunsen burner) is correct, and blue with a faint orangish tinge is the best for power.
