  1. Sorry, got my wires crossed...........this is what i was eventually told once i spoke to the right guy :classic: Get a set of Jap Spec Z31 strut, Remove the spring and spring lip from a 1970-78 Zed and install it on the Z31 struts, Install the Z31 strut into the 1970-78Zed - which is a straight bolt in (as both are Macpherson struts), You swap over the springs because the Z31 is much larger than the earlier Z spring, If the strut is from a Z31 non-turbo version should have 4 stud bolt pattern, ifs its the turbo version it should be 5 stud bolt pattern (if you go the 5 stud bolt pattern, than you have to modify the rear drums - or just use different wheels front and back :classic: ) Now you have vented disc's and 4-spot calipers, But the cool thing is, apparently, if you want to upgrade your brakes later, R32 Gts Skyline rotors and calipers are a straight bolt-on, but only if you use the Jap Spec Z31 struts, Does any of this sound like its possible????????

Richard, Yeah pretty frustrating finding wheels, i really like the look of the sirocco wheels though, just dont know if i wanna spend $1600Aus, this is wheels/tyres/fittiment, Just wanna be absolutely sure first :nervous: What do the "Performance Challengers" look like?

Im just looking at upgrading my front brakes - so i gotta get bigger wheels, Thinking of going to 11" rotors with 4by4 hilux 4-spot calipers or 11" ventred rotors with WB single-pot holden calipers, But both will need atleast a 15" wheels, Dont really wanna be spending massive amounts of money on wheels though, but i got the stock Z rims, with the Z hubcaps and it looks a bit plain, But im not set on anything at the moment, the Sirocco's fit and just seemed like a decent price and i would be able to fit some pretty decent brakes in there, But i would prefer to spend less than $1600, Dont suppose anyone in Aus has got a set of rims they wanna get rid of that will fit a 260z? :classic:

Drunkenmaster, I'll buy one of you for sure mate, no-one sells a complete kit and i havent heard the greatest things about CRS, But im going to do this conversion eventually and i aint going to be making it myself, Send us an email mate, tlawless22@dodo.com.au
  5. Dont know if this true or not............but someone told me, that the "R32 & 33 Skyline GTs Strut Towers" are a straight swap for a 1970-78 Z Strut Tower, well will bolt in with no modifications, Has anyone ever heard of this? or done this?

Yeah i think your right, might not be the best looking wheels for a Z, I think im going to go with a set of "SpeedyWheels, Sirocco 11" - 16"by7", can see them at www.speedywheels.com.au nice looking wheels and they fit too :classic: Just curious, but what is a reasonable price to be paying for a set of rims and tyres? I was quoted $1600AUS for the Sirocco 11's with tyres and fittiment, seemed like a pretty decent price, but i havent ever actually bought brand new rimms before so a bit in the dark..........

Has anyone used Castlemaine Rod Shop engine mounts to mount an RB into a 70-78 Zed? Just wondering if there any good and where they sit the engine in the engine bay

Toletero, Just wondering what did you do for engine mounts and gearbox crossmember? Did you make them yourself or use something from another car?

Drunkenmaster, I have a 1974 260z and im pretty sure its got a return fuel line, your saying if i went with an RB25DET for instance, my stock fuel lines would be sufficent? I was thinking of whacking in a set of Toyota 4by4 4-spot calipers - but should i also swap over the front discs? Should i just leave the rear drums as is, or is it worth it going to hassle of converting to discs on the rear?

Just wanting some clarification, I've looked into putting a rb series engine into my 260z and this is what i've figured out so far - tell me if im wrong or if there is an easier way to do things please, First choose which rb you want Then (this is from a point of view where i wont be making my own fabrication stuff, as my talent in this area is kinda limited) This is just to get the engine & box in place, Castlemaine-Rod-Shop sell engine mounts for the Rb30 into a Z (this should fit all rb series engines though?), These mounts are supposed to sit the engine low and pretty far back in the engine bay (or that i what i've been told) They also sell a gearbox cross-member, but this is for the Rb30 boxes (dont know if this will work the same with later rb25's and 26's), Sump is front mounted so you gotta go and get an Rb20det Z31 rear mounted sump & pickup or a sump from a nissan hiace (i think - it was a hiace) install it onto your Rb engine and you have a rear mounted sump&oil pickup, Then you can install the drive-line, Then you gotta deal with the wiring harness - do you need to go after-market ECU or can you keep it stock? Have to figure out the fuel system - someone told me if i go turbo i should not use the stock fuel lines as they are to restrictive? Install an EFI fuel pump (like one from an R31 skyline), you can go internal or external (whatever you like) and wire it up, Surge tank for the turbo versions, What kinds of mods should be made to brakes & suspension? Cant think of anything eles at the moment............what eles would i need to do, any better ways of doing this???

Saw that site, but its not the guy im after.........pretty sure hes in Australia, The first one had weird engine mounts that came off right at the front of the block and used the stock crossmember mounting points, looked as if it didnt use the stock Sr20 engine mounts, but custom ones that were heaps further forward along the block, The sump was almost on top of the front crossmember and looked to be a right-hand drive car, The one from sr240z.com cut off the original Z crossmember engine mounts and has welded supports on the chassis rail, this one is a left-hand drive car,
  15. Is there any updates on the RB Conversion kit for Zeds?

Saw the pics of the bloke who did an Sr20 conversion into a Zed, looked really awesome, If this bloke is still around i would love to pick your brain about how you got it in and what the car was like to drive after the conversion??? and how you made the engine mounts???
